The last 3 years, I have had 3 free return flights, using my airmiles card. Only paid for taxes, quite a bargain really. Mind you they have altered their point system, used to use 105,000 point for a return to Dubai, now it was 320,000.

If you are transferring within the UAE, you may well need the companies bank Iban and swift number. I personally would write and cheque.

I so remember years ago we were heading for Scotland, when I turned to the lovely Hubby, and said have you put 2 cases in the boot, he said NO, thought he was joking!!!! the kids case was in there ( at Carlisle at this point ) Our case was sitting cosy on our landing. It was a very cold December day, and had to go and buy new clothes for both of us. Kirkcaldy was not the best place to buy!!! lol.

I know nothing about diamonds, but a friend of mine watched Antique Roadshow in the UK, and a lady, for many years played with a ring that looked old tat, she then went onto let her children play with it, long story short, she had it valued, it was worth 125,000 pounds!!!! Get it valued. Good luck.

I was recently on a cruise and a fellow cruiser's luggage was lost the whole duration of the trip. I really cant imagine having no clothes to wear for 12 days. My DD's luggage went walk about once in Dubai, lucky for her it was delivered 36 hours after landing.

You can get a sim from Qtel even if you are here on a tourist visa -- just bring your passport to Qtel and apply on the spot. Without your RP you will get a Hala (pay as you go) account -- but you can change it to Shahry (postpaid) as soon as you have your RP. I think it costs QR 50 to switch from Hala to Shahry, but you can keep your number. Make sure to let them know you need a micro-sim. Thank you, really appreciate it. My Dubai DU just doesnt work here in Doha, driving me nuts.

We are booked to go to Wafi, priced at 450 each. I have noticed a real difference in how much NYE is costing this year. We were at Channels last year, 230 each, they are charging 599???? shocking.

SalsB you are such a nice person for offering to do this for everyone. Sadly, I need stuff bringing this way. I'm looking for a travel coffee press, only costs £23 from Amazon with free delivery in UK but not available in Dubai. Don't want to pay another £23 shop and ship charges. Just bought my son an iPhone 5 adapter, cost in UK £13.99 but I paid AED 199 for it. That's a **** of a mark-up. My DD and GD were coming to visit, MIL jumped on the bang wagon and come with them, she offered to sort the flights out, I would pay her when she got here. so on paying her I mentioned that my GD ticket wasnt that price, but she disagreed, I paid up, but when I checked their tickets the night before leaving she had charged me 90 pound more. I have so many stories about MIL, would take forever to tell you. Lol.

Just came back off the Celebrity Solstice, it was a repositioning cruise, we boarded in Dubai and got off in Singapore, 12 nights, I know they reposition each year. This cruise did start in Barcelona and ends in Sydney, 44 nights. Hope this helps.

Sal - I have about 20 to go. Is that too many for you to take? If you are able to take them do you want a UK cheque to cover the postage (have worked out the cost and it's about £23) or dirhams? Thanks for that salsB, very clearly a scam and not even a particularly clever one at that. Sounds very similar to another Dubizzle scam from a couple of years ago that involved the selling of non-existent second-hand cars. The best advice from all of this is the old adage that if something's too good to be true, it almost certainly is. Has your daughter reported this to Dubizzle and the Police? At least that way she can help prevent other less-suspecting people from falling victim to these terrible people. No she hadn't as yet, but I know we need to let Dubizzle know, will the police be interested due to the company being overseas?

Sorry I was so vague, but here goes. DD seen a really lovely furnished 2 bed apartment in Rimal 1, 15th floor, 6 cheques, 60,000 pervyear. Owner apparently lives in Wales and used a management company called Property-Now, who are suppose to be based in the UK. This apartment is advertised on Dubizzle, no telephone number, just had to reply to the ad. So DD emails, said owner had basically chatted bout the apartment and said he does not use an agent in Dubai, so he wants 5000dhs to release the keys and package then the courier will show DD round the apartment, if she doesn't like it he will refund ( funny ). I have checked out the management company, www.property-now.com, there isn't one telephone number, yet lots of pics of all the staff, that are super imposed photographs. I checked with company house and this company isnt registered, so with all the emails yesterday and the so called said owner and management company were eager to assist, we ask for the company registration number and VAT number, since then all emails have seized.

We lived next to Time Place, DD has a friend that lives there, nice building etc, only problem is the pool is inside, other than that, apparently lovely. Local to Spinneys, a decent shop across the road for most things.
