Dr Madhu opposite main post office in Karama is excellent and you won't need a bank loan for the treatment. He is also very gentle and considerate.

Don't get caught out like me, the agent I was going to used was a scammer and don't be fooled, he also had a Card saying he was registered. Just make sure you have all the correct details and info before handing any cash over, and never write cheques out in the agents name.

As I recall your LL has to give you 48 hours notice for viewing, and he is not allowed to do this without you being there, unless you give him permission. When my LL was selling I was very understanding, but I would not let them view last Xmas Day, the agent was not happy at all. My LL gained entry without permission and was told he was breaking the law. His attitude was its my property and Im going in!!!!! They think they can do what they like

I lived in the Marina too, I wouldn't recommend with young children, apartment living can be very isolated at the best of times for us adults, the kids may drive you crazy. In the summer months are extremely hot too, so I would recommend outdoor space for the kids.

Just wanted to add our 3 bed apartment in JLT is 8500 per month, so a salary of 44,000 per month, you would live a half decent life and still be able to save. I'm in Doha for afew days, we hardly go out in the week and last night we did, meal with wine and a couple beers cost 660.00 Rials, never paid this out ever for a meal in the week, still shocked lol. EEEK, thats "special occasion " prices that is! I hope it was really nice :-) Meal was nice, I just wish now I could of finished the bottle wine I had, lol Where on earth did you go with a bill like that? Marriot and the restaurant was the indian.

Kein Problem :). I'ts great to get opinions from people actually living there. I also forgot to mention that he will have a 20% bonus and we get a "one time relocation sum" of 30.000 Dirhams for the first upcoming expenses. Our plan is to get a 1-room apartment in JBR and have one car(around 60-70 k Dirhams). Then our calculations looked ok. Thanks for the inputs. We don't have children and I will also start to look for a job there so we will have two incomes after a while. then you should be fine :-) Sorry to worry you

I recently booked one way flight from Sigapore. Flying into Dubsi was more expensive, so we fly into AD and then get a taxi. After booking a flight came up to AD, where you fly into Dubai then got the bus to AD, we missed this as we ready booked. EK are abit of a scam me thinks!!!?

I just joined this forum as me and my husband most certainly will have to relocate to Dubai during next year. I read this thread as we want to be able to save money and my question is if you think we are able to do so with a total yearly salary of approx. 530.000 Dirham(that is the total with basic salary, housing- and car allowance). The company will also pay our health insurances and 1 yearly trip home. As we now live in Switzerland I assume that the daily costs will be less than here as food and services are extremly pricy in CH. There isn't any problem you living here with a salary of 530,000 per year as a couple with no kids, if you are not having to pay for housing and you get your flight home paid by the company. On average we spend 2000 per week, this covers food, petrol, shopping and we go out for a cheeky cheap brunch ( we use entertainer vouchers, wherever we can) our car is 2000 per month, we will be paying it off shortly, we don't owe a great deal now. Our utility bills are 1300 a month to include Du home Internet etc. Hope this helps.

We always cover everything when my mum is here, even her flight. Had DD and the 3 Kids earlier this year, we covered them too. Used to have other visitors, but they just expect us to pay for everything, if you ask me, think its real bare faced cheek, so we don't have any friends come over at all now. In general I do think that everyone assumes you are well off living here and can afford to spend, spend, spend.

Thanks, I know but I actually have been driving from Uptown Mirdiff to Al Twar then getting onto Sheikh Zayed from there, which takes a long time! So how do I get onto SZR from next to Mirdiff City Centre? :( I'm no good with road names, but head towards the mall, and you will see signs from there.

Try Bayt.com You may find it more promising if you were already here. Companies do not want to fork out for air tickets etc, and a lot of employers would rather you be on hubby's visa.

Personally I would of taken the Ipad and tried to find info on it to get it back to the owner. Last year I found a bag in a taxi, it contained over 3000 US dollars, passports and a mobile phone, it was safely returned to a very happy owner. I also left my purse in a taxi the week before and I also had it returned, I wasnt really bothered about losing any money, the cards were more important. Hope the ipad gets back to it's owner, Im sure it will.

Daisy, If your tenancy contract does not mention cooler charged, then I would assume its the LL responsibility. Actually is guess its the other way around as in the regular standard contact (blue contract) is mentioned costs like electricity, water etc. needs to be paid by the tenant. Gege, We have a standard contract, LL added the cooling charges as an extra, will check the contract tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies... Unfortunatley, nothing about A/C is mentioned in our contract! If only we had known about the installation of the meters when we moved in?! SalsB, aren't you worried you are going to get slapped with a huge bill?? I am actually worried, but i'm so confused as our last apartment we paid 4.1dhs per sq foot. Never had anyone read a meter??? I will need to see a bill before I part with any cash. Daisy, If your tenancy contract does not mention cooler charged, then I would assume its the LL responsibility.

Betty Coo, I had issues with my back from 1983 to 1998, prolapsed L4/L5, for years the pain subsided on and off, eventually I had Physio, pain relief, such as pethidine and muscle relaxants, to be honest I was in agony, really cant describe the pain, I opted to be operated on early 1998. I was in hospital for 6 days, had the stitches removed 7 days later, and was back at work 3 days later ( Office Job ). I do tend to look after my back as best I can. Since the op I haven't looked back. I would find out all the info relating to your back, have the MRI, go to Physio, as your problem maybe easily solved, hopefully you have a decent doctor that will think of you and not their wallet. Good luck, let us know how you get on, hope you will be ok, hugs to you.
