Drivers here require a UAE drivers licence to drive here. some nationalities have their home country licence converted without taking lessons / test, others have to take lessons and test before a licence can be issued.

Our contract is signed for us to pay cooling charges, had 2 notices up in the lifts to say the meters are going to be read, both times, no one turned up. I didnt know we had meters for cooling only!!! and when we moved in the meter wasnt read. Have no clue on how much it will be, and have not received a bill. anyone know how we are billed??? we are in JLT.

ive read there's been a few drownings, a fellow Ewer lost her mom recently. As for life Guards, I really wouldn't trust them. The waters here are so unsafe, please do not go out and swim, it is dangerous.

I sometime use a private car that belongs to the Westin, fare is literally the samr price as a normall taxi, but I know he expects a decent tip, well worth it.

We have had a credit card with them for over 4 years, always pay the balance per month. I just can't believe hubby just can't get a second card for me. It's totally rubbish, what to close the acccount and re open a duplicate one, where is the sense in this!!!!! You should be able to - we do and even have a son with one on the account. SM, they have said yes a extra card can be issued, but we have open a brand new account!!!

Hubby and I were talking about what holiday wasn't the best, and we both agreed we really didn't enjoy Mauritius. If I was to go back I would stay on the West Coast. Haven't been to The Maldives yet, it's on the list.

I was Al Muna in June, sat near the door, it was open more than closed, very warm, but I do think the air con just isn't at a decent temp. Rang today to book for Friday,the price had increased now from 425 to 475. Anyone have vouchers they don't need or want, will swap for FD??? Unless you have it registered and licensed, nowhere. The police patrol the beaches (such as Jebel Ali beach) and you have to have a license to use it at Mamzar or round Marina etc. If they catch you with no registration it will be impounded and you will face a fine and stern telling off. If it is licensed, then I think you can use it from the offshore sailing club slipway but all the jetskis around the Marina / JBR are illegal. I used to own one until my b*&%$%^d of an ex-boyfriend stole it from me (never returned it when I dumped his sorry a$$), so if a fiery Palestinian sold you a Yamaha Waverunner (2010 model) that was repainted and came with a free trailer, enjoy using my jet ski lol! I would find a new circle of friends. Yes I can understand we lose our patience here, I'm the first one to admit it myself. I would say I'm straight talking but not really rude, sometimes people that don't know you, would think its classed as rudeness. Others that know you, normally know we are just being firm.

My MIL can be a nightmare, she tends to moan about food here, in my opinion, can't find nicer food when eating out, yet I have to put up loads of c%%%, she took me for for roast lunch back in the UK, it was all processed And from frozen, yet she yummed her way thru the plate. So really annoying. I think they like the sound of their own voices. @ OP, just do a food plan on what food they like, if that won't do, don't feed them, lol <em>edited by salsB on 25/09/2012</em>

My eldest DD was bullied at secondary school in the uk, school didn't really care, even thou they had an anti bullying policy in place. So hope it is so different here, as my DD was so distraught and it took ages for her to break down and tell us what was going on, really, can't explain how I felt, it did break my heart that she suffered for months, and she just couldn't share her pain.

I used to live in green community, visited the pet shop there most days, had Persian kittens, they were in a half decent condition when they were babies, shop wanted 12000 then weeks later reduced to 8000 each, got to know the staff, and tried to educate them, they just don't have the same feelings like we do, so really sad, but at least I was able to give the babies cuddles, give me fresh water and food, yes it did break my heart. Not sure what the world is coming to, to be honest. <em>edited by salsB on 24/09/2012</em>

Want to say we bought a 10 week old pup, and ended up at the same problems, I was told she wouldnt survive, but she did. This was in the uk. We just need to not use pet shops here. How much is it for a Persian or pedigree, 8000 to 12000 thousand. Most of these poor animals come from farms I'm sure. Go though rescue centers, best way to go. Hope the poor pup gets well.

Earlier this year an agent tried to pull a fast one on us, lucky I knew what he did was wrong, I made a complaint to Rera, and heard nothing. The agent is still working, actually he owns the company!!!! As for the Canadian couple, I will ring and find out, if the obtained keys to the apartment.
