Decided last night to book a hotel in AD tonight, a friend and I thought it would be a great idea, and to give them a break from travelling back to Dubai. We are so thoughtful!!!!!

Jump in a taxi and go down there yourself. 1000 does seem alot just to have something attested. If the Chinese Embassy is near all the others, it will cost approx 70dhs each way in a taxi.

If your family fly in with Emirates, they will sort the visa for them. Take a look at their website. Sorry I do not know the visa procedure.

I think we are in the same situation, have a lump sum of money to put aside, and monthly savings, we don't want to put the money into anything high risk. I have heard of advisor's running off with other people's money!!!! quite scary.

Last year we had to pay for the cooler per month, I think it was 4.1dhs per sq foot per month, (600dhs per month) our new tenancy contract has it included now. Our DEWA and municipality charges per month are 950 per month for a 2 bed with maids room. So Dewa is around 400 and the rest is Municipality tax.

anyone knows the office timing in Al Barsha, Saturday open? Was just in Knowledge Village, they said they need appr. 4 days to fill application. I should leave passport. But I didn't do...just wasted money for the taxi to and from the typing centre. Don't think the Barsha is open on Saturdays, in the week they are open till 8pm, no typing after 5pm thou.

If the parcel has been sent by courier, all you need is the reference number to track it. If you have the number go online and you should be able to see where the parcel is at the moment. The parcel will be able to be tracked very easy.

My youngest DD is now 22 yrs old, and I hardly gave her any sweet things. No fillings and problems with her teeth, they are actually perfect. I made a few mistakes with my eldest DD, we all live and learn. As for salt I really cannot say!!!! but we do need it, especially over here.

I would say Nursery is a good thing, the kids start to learn and interact early. Maybe consider part time to start with and then decide if full time would be suitable.

I've often enjoyed the reality shows that this family have. At the end of the day its really just light entertainment and sometimes good for a laugh. Love or loathe this family, they are laughing all the way to the bank! Oh yeah! I've never tasted a better milkshake than the milkshakes DH and I became hooked on at Millions Of Milkshakes!!! Milkshakes so thick the straws are super-sized! So in general If Kim promoting something awful, you would try it because she has some kind of sponsorship!!!!

Dad's half Scot/English, Mom's fully English, I was born in Solihull but grew up in South Africa, moved back to Solihull, West Midlands for 10 years and now been out here in Dubai for the pasy 3.5 years! I get asked all the time, "where are you from?", because my accent is so mixed and I don't have a typical South African accent! I came from Yardley!!! lol

I'm half way through chemo for breast cancer, i have surgery and radiotherapy to come. I never made it back to Dubai after my summer holiday, I'm in rented accommodation with none of my personal belongings yet other than the suitcsse I brought for my vacation. BUT i value every day more than ever, it doesn't matter to me where I am in the world as long as i'm with DH and my 2 precious little ones - they make me smile, laugh and give me joy every day. We make opportunities wherever we are in life, change can be good even it doesn't feel like it in the short term. Stay positive :o) I do wish you a very speedy recovery, and you have friends and family around to help support you thru this trying time. Good luck, x

A rotten cold can make us feel so miserable, but I suppose it depends how severe his illness is, flu for example, no one can even lift an eye lid. Go with you instincts!!!! Just because you have to plod on with the kids, doesn't mean to say everyone else has too. As for medicines, maybe he should buy them with his own money!!!! or you do and take it from his salary.

My DD was around 18months old and she fell down the sewage drain ( it was shared with the next door and blocked) the cover was taken off for this reason. I was in the garden pegging washing out, DD walked the plank of wood and fell in, covered in Poop, loo roll the works.
