The big hotels charge around 700-800dhs feeds 6-8 people, I think its not a bad price. May consider this myself this year, as the hotel we went to last Xmas day wasn't that great.

1 million pounds in severance is going to last how long? And then what are those people going to do? Let us not waste the PM's time with fanciful ideas that have no bearing in economic realities. To alot of people a million is a massive amount of money, obviously you must have lots of money stashed, as to think a million is nothing!!!! lol

Our choice to come here, ok we save alot more money here than we could in the UK. We spend quite alot too, We like being here, life is much better for us as a couple. Money wasnt our initial focus thou.

I was diagnosed in 2005, Have been having such a hard time lately with IBS. I also had a colonoscopy, unpleasant but not painful. I have never seek medication, but now thinking may have seek further medical advise, Its driving me crazy.

LL pays, depends on your tenancy they may ask you to pay for the cooler, which stood at 4fils per square foot. I get mine free now!!! saves me nearly 600 amonth.

Sorry Emirates ID isn't made easy!!! Dh goes again yesterday, Systems still down, returns there this morning at 7.30, he just wants to renew, they go and do his photo and finger printing again!!!!! why oh why!!!! he was there for over 4.5 hrs, stood in 2 queues, surely there is a easier way than this. Quick past me the bottle, am in need of a stiff drink. I was told I would get an sms today, heard nothing yet.

My MIL informs me I have a letter at home, on the envelope it reads: Time sensitive documents inside, she was frightened to open it, it case it blows up!!!! I should be so lucky.lol Anyway she is bringing it with her on 22nd.

So off I went at 7am this morning to the ID at Knowledge Village, no queue. I was informed to wait for a text message!!!! I need my passport back asap for renewal. So in theory, I will have to go back on Wednesday for the passport, then go back to have finger printing, then go back to collect my ID card. Is there no common sense here, fortunately I do not work, so I suppose its not to bad for me to run around Dubai, what about the full time workers. I did return to the ID typing office tonight for DH renewal, it was closed, so we rushed over to Al Barsha, SYSTEM DOWN, Maam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me strength. Poor DH rushed from work to get this sorted. Grrrrrrrrr!!!

I didn't go on a houseboat, I did hear they were quite nice, and the charge each night per person was around 250dhs. The price included Dinner and Breakfast.

What a mess. My passport needs renewing, now If the deadline for ID is now October, this is when my residence runs out early October too. Need my passport renewed, as the info ive read, cant have a new Visa without my Id. What am I going to do. Its really stressed me out today.

Such a shame as Eid is over and now you have to get back to work etc.... If this is a regular pattern I think you DH friend needs to look deeper into his relationship, he cant just land on your door step each time he has a fall out with his OH. On saying that I had a friend once and she did the same, yet I never turned my back. Very tricky situ, do hope his problems can be resolved for the sake of you and DH.

My eldest DD left home when she was 21, now 28, ok we now live in different countries, they still need us. I dont ever remember where Ive had a week off to her needs. Im here for her and always will be. My youngest DD decided to join us her in January 2010, 15 months without here was a nightmare for me. Don' ever think once they move out its the end of the world. Sad you maybe, but take a breather and enjoy your freedom, the kids aren't going very far. In my opinion anyway.

The British Embassy here are doing some kind of trial in September, check out UK in UAE on FB. I received a status on this the other day, not understand all the ins and out, but I think it said you don"t have to send documents back to the UK for attesting.

I live in an apartment, have no small kids, but had the Grand Kids over last August, far to hot to take them out to play. In my opinion I cant see an apartment being ideal, as its quite hot most of the year. If I had small children I would go for a villa with a pool, play park near by etc. Apartments can be isolated too but so can villa's if you are not mobile.

My daughter has just had the imupro 300 test done at medcare via the dermatologist there. Altogether it cost about 4000 dhs which included consultation imupro test and subsequent report and eating plan as well as other medical related blood tests. It flagged up wheat oats etc eggs and all dairy except soya as the main probs and 20 oe so other random things!! Imagine trying to enforce this with a 14 yr old!! This is the problem for me, as I know I have a reaction to lots basic foods. It will be very difficult to cut out most of the foods I know are causing the problems, I wont be able to eat anything really.

I have just looked into this the doctor at Marina Walk Dr Nicolas and Asp have told me its 3000dhs. I havent asked my insurance, but was told it probably wont be covered.
