My DH is only working 6 hours per day now, but his work colleague who is on another job hasnt had his hours reduced. Rocking the boat and complaining will go against you, I suppose it all depends if you are working outdoors or office based. Private sector is so different to Public. Each and every public holiday here my DH has had to work!!!! As he looks at it, "It is what it is".

It all depends on what is causing the problem. I had the same due to a slipped disc. The nerve pain went from my left cheek right down my left leg to my foot, I tried every avenue and nothing worked for me, after 17 years of agony I had my disc removed. Havent looked back since. Hope your DH gets sorted quickly, I do feel his pain,

The poor innocent lives lost in Oslo is so tragic. I look back to the Tsunami and watched footage, and I still say to this day I could NEVER holiday there knowing over 250,000 died. We deal with death in all kind of different ways, its our choice to pick and choose and decide what we want to say on EW, My Cousin was abused and murdered, did it hit the headlines, no it didnt, why would it, did people care, yes ofcourse family and friends cared. We should be able to express it in our own way. I do hope Amy's family now campaign and if only to save one live from drugs it will be an achievement. salsB so sorry about the death of your cousin. I can remember the day my brother was killed by a drunk driver at 21.What impacted me the most I think is that the world just carried on as usual. I wanted to stand and scream at everyone "don't you know my brother is dead, how can you just carry on as if nothing has happened". It took a long time to get over that feeling and to carry on my life as normal. With the world being so connected these days, I think we as a society are able to get a closer and more personal view of these tragedies that touch our world. With this comes an almost personal feeling of " how can the world go about its business when this tragedy has happened". Thus the varied responses we see here. Back to Amy, I sincerely hope her death and the publicity can save at least one life from ending the way hers did. edited by Nomad on 26/07/2011 Nomad, I am so sorry you have lost your brother, very hard to express on a forum, massive hugs to you and the family, and I do mean what I say, xxxxxx

Living somewhere that suits you as a family is more important, yes it does cost money to move etc, but find the ideal place and life will be much happier for you all. We decided on staying for our second year in our marina apartment, Im sure we could of found a cheaper 2 bed, but in the long run, we are happy here, its convenient for the simple things in life, shopping, close to the metro ( for me anyway ). Make your decision and be more content.

Just made a quick comparison in utility bills / council tax, UK was around 3400 pounds per year, here 1800.00. We may think its expensive here, Im not so sure. Salaries are much higher to a degree in Dubai than back home ( UK ) that is. We can moan and moan it wont change anything, lets grin and bare it, or not be here.

Here in Dubai I pay AED743 or 123GBP per month for OSN with sport/broadband/landline, calls are extra. For the same kind of package in the UK I am paying 19.50GBP for a very similar service. Why, seriously, why is it so expensive here??? Am I missing something?? BT charge 13.00 quid for the line, not sure about cable, so I think you may have your figures wrong!!!! I used to use AOL for internet, the cost as I remember was about 14.00 a month, Sky for total package was 34.00. Where do you get the 19.50 figure??? be good to know. Lets be real here, UK are a total rip off too, wages dont really compare.

So sorry to hear about your cousin, Sal, I'm sure more people than only your family cared about her death. Good point about Amy's family campaigning. It would be good if her early death could achieve something, but looking at the other members of the 27 group, I'm not so sure. Russell Brand might be able to take her death and provoke a reaction, maybe? So much sadness, very sad the world we live in!!!!!!!!!!!!! but Lives will be lost, sad but so true. We do need to reflect and pray from a happier world. xx
