I would give the embassy a ring and ask them to advice. Its quite rare to get into a country with less that 6months left on your passport. I remember afew years ago whilst living in Cyprus my Hubby was able to renew his passport with no issues, hopefully your friend will have no problems.

Did I have the best day of my life, Met Ali at his conference, also most of the crew, we all got on like house on fire. Used the backstage passes and met the lovely man again, lots of cuddles and photo's and Matt who is in the band gave us after party tickets, free bar. What a brilliant day. Got home 8am this morning.

I think its to do with how many eggs you use. I put 5/6 in mine and use all purpose flour, as I cant seem to find small bags of plain flour here.

Both my two girls still need me, I feel very priviledged they do, as its nothing to do what a great or not so great job Ive done. I think it will be such a very sad day when they dont need me. They still drive me nuts sometimes but ofcourse I wouldnt be without them. They both know Im here for both of them anytime day or night.

My DD was bullied at school, she said nothing for such a long time, but she became withdrawn, I used to ask If all was ok, and she never mentioned anything, till one day she snapped and broke down in such a state. Even thou we know teenagers go thru a period of awkwardness, I would go with my instinct, look at change in behaviour and just say that you there anytime to help.

Just to add, I'm sure Elaine (Watson?), the lovely General Manager, would be mortified to hear of these goings on and it would be worth making the comment to her about this, just so she knows for next year, if nothing else.. Another poster said Elaine left on Friday. Alot of the staff I knew have left, so cant even advise who to contact now.

thanks for all the suggestions, I'm going to try calling and see where that gets me, otherwise I think I am going to book a ticket for me too and then change mine to when I'm actually flying. emirates sure know how to take the fun out of going on holiday :-) I do think they will let you book over the phone, but you will need to go in and pay. I do recall upto recently you could book online and was given a set amount of time to go to the airport of EK office and pay, I think this option isnt available now. I was told to get a credit card for the passenger, UMmmm what for a 7 year old Grandaughter, me dont think so. You can go into a travel agent and book I do believe, unless thats changed recently.

I went to the Culture Understanding and was informed that Emirati's like the fact that not Muslim's like to wear the Abaya. My DD was given one as a present from another Arab Lady, so I would say yes to wearing them.

You can either ring IV or book thru Virgin or time out, They will probably sell tickets at the gate, but not sure what the availability will be.

My dad booked through the phone but the customer representative told him he could book online as well... Jud, I have booked many family members from UAE and UK and all I can say is that your dad has been very lucky, unlike us, complete nightmare actually.

My two sisters (14&16) just came to Dubai to visit me. They flew with Emirates. My dad paid the tickets but he wasn't traveling with them at all. And there was no problem at all. Nobody asked us anything. Do not worry about that and book your son's ticket online! Must of booked thru an agent or another internet provider as you cannot book family members without travelling. EK have become impossible to book with. You can book via telephone and collect tickets at the airport but they charge an extra 10%, very kind of them thou.

My Hubby had his CV looked at before we came here, he was told to put alot more info on it, and even down to the prices of the jobs, size, how many men worked under him. I think alot of companies are now employing people already in the region, so thats a good pointer. I can suggest you look at Gulf Talent's website, could be a start. Sorry for being dumb, but what is a automation Engineer, is it aviation???? edited by salsB on 24/04/2011

Just found this on internet, hope it helps. Rh factor incompatibility can be prevented by administration of the RhoGAM shot. Because baby's blood does not usually mix with the mother's until birth, first pregnancies usually have no risk for problems to baby. During birth, bits of the baby's blood will mix with the mother's blood. The RhoGAM shot should be given within 72 hours of birth. This shot will stop the mother from developing antibodies to the Rh factor. Because there is a slight risk of placental tears during the later part of pregnancy, the RhoGAM shot is often given at 28 weeks of pregnancy as well. If your baby's blood type is Rh negative, the RhoGAM shot is not necessary. The RhoGAM shot only provides temporary immunity so it will be necessary to have the shot given after each birth, miscarriage, or induced abortion.

We normally start at Senyar Bar in the Westin, happy hour from 7-8, then you can use your vouchers (3) to either get free bubbly or a bottle between 2 of you. I was in RockBottom in Tecom last week, free vodka for the ladies from 10pm till 1am, the band were really good too. Barzar also do a drink package for 90dhs, for 5 selected drinks.

My mum used to show me how to clean etc when I was young, and pay me extra pocket money. As for learning to cook it wasnt that hard for me, my mum was a terrible cook, so pushing the boundries was easy for me. Being a homemaker is that hard, its all about routine, me hasnt got one at the moment.

A friend in the UK has properties overseas, she investigated buying in Dubai in 2004, and her financial advisor said No, so she bought elsewhere. She know nows why!!!! Buying here doesnt give you the right to stay, and if everything goes pearshaped, you will have to pay the mortgage off before leaving or face prison. I would rather rent. edited by salsB on 19/04/2011

Wherever you buy your goods you will need to fill in the form whilst in the shop, then go to the airport and claim the VAT back. Ive never done it myself, even thou I thought about it, all the form filling would do my head in.

Lucy, You havent got time for the kind of nuinance, get rid and get someone who you can rely on. Based on her previous employer statement and what the agency has said, it sounds to me she is a compulsive liar and will cry wolf at any opportunity. Good Luck.
