Riva on the Palm is lovely, 100dhs each on a week day. There is a pool, beach, restaurant and bar, they provide towels, wash room and showers. Alot of the hotels do change quite abit, If I remember the Westin is 280 now, even more expensive at weekends, JBH is the same kind of price. edited by salsB on 02/10/2013

A little different, but I had a Brazillian Blowout recently, had a massive reaction, it has taken 3 weeks for all the scabs in my head to heal and me pick out. My head was burnt for a week, I was in really bad pain, and you know what, all for 1500rials. ( had it done in Qatar ). Please have a skin test beforehand.

I tend to worry that a partner does not want children, I would think this would be a very strong topic before getting married... as like mt hubby and I many moons ago, children were discussed. If he was to say he didnt want kids, then that be the end of that. When you get to a certain age, especially when the clock is ticking, you cant waste precious time saying, " in 5 years".I know so many people that have had babies without planning, and they are the best thing that ever happened. If I was in the OP scenario, I would be worried... Good luck edited by salsB on 01/10/2013

You have to give the correct notice your tenancy says, otherwise your LL has the rights to asking for a penalty. Earlier this year we gave 90 days as per our agreement.

We are already paying hidden taxes, so to try and add tax will see people leaving in droves. Not all of us have very deep pockets...

Might depend on how you pay for the car, then. We bought a car in cash last October. We'll be leaving this fall and reselling it. We've had a little maintenance here and there, including new tyres, but most of the maintenance we knew needed to be done and we'd negotiated down the sale price to compensate for that. I think we've probably paid a couple thousand in maintenance plus our insurance and will turn around and resell the car for about what we paid for it (been watching dubizzle for similar cars). We may "lose" the equivalent of a few months rental cost when all is said and done, but nothing near what we would have paid for an entire year's rental. Then again, we went cheap, for a car not a 4x4, and paid cash. Add in a most costly car to operate, the fact that new cars depreciate quickly and maintenance and financing costs and I could see where it might end up being a wash if you're not careful. Hubby had a Pajero, the servicing cost at times we as much as 2000, even more for a full service. He had no major issues with the car, he had to have the drive shaft replaced, again that was expensive. New tyres were nearly 5000. So when you way up the loan costs and the frequent servicing, we truly paid out more than his allowance. A friend of ours, he had major issues with his vehicle, only the last few months he paid out around 14,000 on getting the car repaired, due to lots of faults. At one point his vehicle was in for repair for 24 days!!! who can do without for that length of time, especially working in AD. Think there are lots to consider.

I am not sure buying is the cheapest option. It wasnt for us anyway. the loan was over 5 years, but we paid it off early. Monthly payments were 2000 a month, Servicing, new tyres etc cost us a fortune. We now rent a hire car, so we have no commitment.

You can take a flight from the airport to just outside Galle. As the new road is open from the airport now, it shouldnt take to long. When we stayed at Hakkaduwa it took 4 hours to get there.

I don't think you can hire suits here anywhere - primarily because they are so cheap to get made or buy (if you go to Brands at The Centre they sell cheap suits - including tuxes). Is this at City Centre Mall, can you name any shops, hubby got to go on Friday.thanks

What I find amusing is different areas of Dubai charge different prices on goods Some cheaper some more expensive. [b'>They should not be allowed to do this![/b'> why not? wouldn't it depend on rents and also on the demographics of the area. Spinney's on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road has a lot less Western products then the one in Umm Suqeim.Where is Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Rd?? same road as Burjuman Isnt it the Old Emirates Road!!!

I never knew mums were entitled to be ill when having little ones, its a matter of rolling up your sleeves and just getting on with it.... Seems alot of people just cant be without having a maid!!! I do ask why, and the only reason I can think of is that their hourly rate is so cheap compared to Nurseries.... Society has become very lazy when it comes to having children, I just dont get the maid/ nanny thing. Sorry, but this is my opinion....
