Sorry if this seems like an obvious question but have you checked the 'silent' switch on the top left side? It is a physical switch that can easily get caught on a pocket or something. When you switch it a bell with a line through it should appear on the screen to show it is in silent mode, in this mode the phone will only vibrate. A bell without a line will show it is not in silent mode. the + and - buttons beneath this button allow you to increase and decrease the volume when switching to not silent mode (iPhone needs to be unlocked at the time of moving silent mode switch) Here is some more information (images are iPhone 3 but the switch is in the same place) http://www.imore.com/iphone-101-iphone-ringing-meet-silent-switch Image of iPhone 4 showing switch (ringer button) http://ipod.about.com/od/introductiontotheiphone/ss/Anatomy-Of-Iphone-4.htm If you have tried this switch then there is a possibility it is malfunctioning. There are a number of forums I can direct you to for possible solutions on this if it is a malfunctioning switch (of course if it is a hardware fault then it will need repair). I checked everything, all i ws doing was having a facetime conversation, and all of a sudden therewas no sound!!!! completely puzzled.... grrrrr Thanks Ruth edited by salsB on 05/09/2013

A dear friend of mine has unfortunately been made redundant and is seeking the above role. He is a proactive kind of chap and has seeked new employment, had interviews, and again unfortunately some agencies have been giving him the run around. He has been based in the ME for the last 5 years, so if any girls have any leads or know of any companies that are recruiting, he is readily available to start work immediately. Hope you can help!!!! Really appreciate any feedback. thank you xx Nothing at the moment but will keep my ear to the ground Thank you, really do apreciate it.

I find you have to turn all wifi off apart from the device you are using, interference from the laptop makes FT go off and on too. So when I use my Ipad, I turn off wifi off my phone and laptop, it works perfectly then.

I just cant see a family of 5 living on 30k per month. We all have to allow for rent increases, Dewa, cost of food, Ive seen quite big increases since 2008 on all these above. It was only recently we were given a 13,000 cooling charge bill, and this was for a 3 bed apartment, but never worked in 2 bedrooms. The initial outlay can be huge, and gave us lots of sleepless nights. I would not come and live in Dubai with 3 kids on 30k a month.

SalsB, so glad I am not the only one to feel like that! Thought I was :-)) I sound very negative too but I always like to tell it like it is rather than package it up to be something it isn't. My husband also feels the same so we have to grin and bear until such times we can sail (or fly) off into the sunset for good. Hope things get better for us both eh! We are sitting tight until the recession ends......... then who knows the world's our oyster, lol. I cant see the point in trying to butter things up, I am not normally that negative, not really sure what I want from Doha and what it has to offer me. Only time will tell... edited by salsB on 03/09/2013

When we arrived in 2008, we never run up debt for the sake of it. The initial outlay made me have sleepless nights for a long time, the rent in one cheque was 125,000, the car was 92,000 plus interest, the relocation allowance was 15,000. I panicked each and every day. We didnt take any other loans and credit card debts, as we had enough of this to deal with back in the UK. We managed, slowly but surely, cleared the car, pay rent monthly, hire a car. We wont have debt at all now. Never ever wanted to walk away owing money, fortunately we pulled thru it all, but only by our short and curlies!!!!!

going back a while ago, a neighbour dumped bags of rubbish in the rubbish room, as my foot touched the bag, there was broken glass, had a deep cut deep to the bone, had numerous visits to the hospital for stitches, cleaning etc, very nasty. So all be very careful... I found who done it, it was my next door neighbour, and to be honest, their attitude was disgusting... didnt give a hoot!!!!!!

Thanks again for the replies. Thanks kimbo61 for the heads up on propertyfinder - i'll have a look. at least we'll have a better idea of monthly out-goings then. Unfortunately i doubt very much that the employer would be covering accommodation costs or education. Its actually the same company that DH is currently working for, just a different division. I think he's going to try and see if there's any way he could work for that division but still have his visa in Dubai as, from what i gather, a lot of the work is actually in dubai anyway so he'd be travelling back here a lot by the sounds of things. fingers crossed!! Im kind of hoping that either the job doesn't turn out to be what he wants, or there is somehow a way of transferring to that division but still staying here. I could be wrong but i just dont really think Doha is for us. I think we would get bored. DH moans sometimes about being bored here but thats just because he cant be bothered to get off his bum and do stuff sometimes, rather than there being a lack of easily accessible things to do. SalsB, Im really sorry to hear you're not enjoying your time there. You helped me out a huge amount just over 4 years ago when we were thinking of moving to Dubai (I was under a different name back then tho! ;) ) Whenever i asked questions on here about moving over and the kind of package we'd be on, everyone else was just answering with doom and gloom, but you always gave me realistic, down to earth advice and really inspired me to go ahead with the move, for which I am eternally grateful. Its the best decision we ever made! I hope you start feeling more at home soon or that an opportunity pops up somewhere you'd be happier! Well, i think thats all my questions for now. thanks for bearing with me. will just have to wait and see what happens. I'll be sure to jump back on here and ask you lovelies if i think of anything else tho! Thanks again! xx Im quite lucky really, hubby is very good in letting me swan off quite often, so its not so bad, lol. Hope all works out, make sure you let us know what you have decided. Good luck.

After nearly 5 years in Dubai, then coming to Doha in Feb, I have found it very hard to settle. Doha seems to take so much effort to get anywhere, taxi's are a pain, everything seems more spread out here, unlike Dubai, its normally a quick taxi down the SZR. We dont go out much in Doha, traffic is much more of a pain than Dubai, roads here are congested all the time, so most of the time, we say we cant be bothered!!!! I visit Dubai all the time, and feel im home, even thou its not my home. I was in Dubs for 5 days came back yesterday!!! when i was en route to Dubs I was excited, when I landed back last night in Doha, I had that dreaded knot in my stomach once again. I dont have any young children, but im sure its what you make of it, each and everyone of us its different. My hubby is a very easy going chap, and he has basically said he really doesnt like it here. All it is to him now is Work Work Work!!!!! Where I live I havent even got a footpath to walk anywhere. Sorry to be so negative. Hope OP has a different view and will like living over here.

Some foods are related to other kinds of food. My Grandson had a really bad reaction earlier this year, he is 5, his mouth and lips looked like blisters, he had a rash. A right mess actually. Turns out it was a Robinsons fruit drink with Mango. When he was tested they said Prawn were related, so avoid them too. There were other foods too, just cant think at this time.

Hubby needed one to access the account in the UK, we were told you have go via the branch that is relative to the account!!! Once set up, its a walk in the park. Wish they would introduce chip and pin, think this should of been a priority before the security device. They have - we got ours before the Summer. We're in Doha, we dont use our card that often, but when we do, never been asked for pin!!! maybe its coming soon.

I had dental treatment whilst pregnant, I agree no pregnant woman should have X-rays. As we know we get free dentalcare in the UK whilst pregnant and never been told you cannot have a local.... News to me. during the time I was preggers the only free stuff I used to get done to my teeth were a clean ! My dentist wouldnt do anything else ! I got all my fillings done after the delivery as it was still free for upto 12 months after the birth ( not sure now, Im going back 9 years ) Maybe my dentist was just being over cautious but she wouldnt do it. she didnt say she wasnt allowed, just said she wont do it . Will ask my DD about her treatment as she has had 3 kids over the last few years. Take in mind im going back 30 and 24 years ago since I had my girls, so maybe things have charged?

I know it is worrying, but most lumps are just cysts, not always as bad as we think, try not to panick. Easy said than done, I know. Stay calm.

I would steer away from the World's local bank. They are useless. As for sending money home I used the UAE Exchange, you will get a much better rate than the bank. We recently sent money home thru the bank our charges were 150dhs, plus the rate was alot less than the exchange place, we lost out on 248 pounds.
