It was in the local press recently that this would be the case for Dibba crossings. The article didn't specify if it was just for crossings from Sharjah, or RAK too.

What make and model is it? Can you set the cooking time followed by keep-warm? I don't have auto so I just leave mine on low all day if I'm going to be leaving it for more than about 6 hours.

I've never been to Mauritius or the Seychelles but I've been to the Maldives twice. I'm edging to going again but wanted to make sure I wouldn't be missing out on somewhere else by going a third time :)

I think some people write their comment near the part they are referring to which makes it hard to pick out. It is clearer to select the part of the quote you wish to refer to then select the [b'>B[/b'> just above the box where you type. This will make that part of the quote bold, such as in Ishehere's post then your own comment at the bottom makes sense. If it's a long quote and you only need a part of it, it is possible to delete all the text except that which you wish to refer to, keeping the [quote'> (at the beginning of the quoted text) and [/ quote'> (at the end of the quoted text). A generic "you", not "you", Ishehere ;)

And don't quote unnecessarily please! There so many threads where everyone has quoted the entire post below them. Sometimes it's needed when you're referring to a post several posts or pages down, but not for every single post. *rant over*

Don't lie! Not worth the worry and the hassle surely? I think you need to call the Min. of Labour and ask them what your options are. Is there anyone in HR who's friendly that you could ask? I think in reality though you may need to accept that if you have changed your mind mid-leave that you may need to pay them back. I think morally speaking there's a good argument for having to repay your salary whilst you were on mat. leave. Legally speaking I have no idea; it may be that what's paid is paid and you are under no obligation to repay the amount. Really worth checking with [b'>the minstry for peace of mind[/b'> and an official stance to arm you for when you speak to your management Sorry to distract from a serious thread but this made me think of the Ministry of Silly Walks. edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 26/09/2012

Apple products work best with Apple products. An iPhone (which is the Apple brand of smartphone) will be easier to use with a Mac computer than a Blackberry smartphone for example as a lot of the software/apps are shared between iPhones, Macbooks, iPads, iPods.

I love the comments about taking an hour or so to clean up. I'm on about day 6 of trying to sort just my photos (mind you, there were over 13000 of them) :D I get that it's hard but if you got anyone else to do it for you, how would you know where anything is? Especially with something like photos, I don't think a stranger would know how to organize them properly. I guess it's ok to have someone tell you what files and applications are unnecessary and can be cleared out, but I wouldn't trust anyone to decide what files/photos/docs of mine are not required.

Carrefour is advertising white iPhone 4S's on its website for AED 2399. iOs6 has the poorer quality maps, YouTube has disappeared and there's a new app called Passbook which simply doesn't work (common problem, not just me). It seems quite slow too. Unfortunately I didn't research the upgrade before I allowed it to install, I just saw negative comments on FB from friends once it was installing. Lesson learnt....

Check on the SIM for the iPhone 5. You can cut down a regular SIM for an iPhone 4/4S but I believe you can't do the same for the new SIM in the 5. I upgraded my 4 to iOS6 and regret it.

There's a program called OmniDiskSweeper which shows you a breakdown of all your files and where they are. Not sure if that would be useful? (It's free).

Ah ok, will do although to be honest I'm not 100% sure that's where it is. We always check our seat pockets and I don't think it could have slid out of my bag in the overhead locker. I've been through the house several times, I'm just trying to cover all possibilities. It's password protected so no use to anyone else but I have so many books on there. And it was a gift from DH :(

If they give them water, they'll wee. If they wee they need to be cleaned. It's just down to laziness. People have posted many times over the years on this forum, very upset due to seeing animals in pet shops with no water. Don't blame it on staff being clueless - not so many times for so many years, blame it on them being lazy ********. OP, so sorry to hear of your friend's dog. I hope the shop responsible are punished.

LDC, are you looking for a loophole? If so, it's not worth it. I'm not sure if anyone here can link to an official website stating maids cannot work for anyone apart from their sponsor but there have been several links posted on here plus people who have said they know people who have fallen foul of the law (I know of someone slapped with a 50k fine too). How much more proof do you need, or are you looking for something official to show someone who thinks it's legal? edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 23/09/2012

Another vote for The Ceiling Fan Company. They sell Hunter fans which are superb quality and so quiet. When we bought ours they didn't have a showroom but directed us to Huda lighting on Um Seqeim road where we could view some

RTA has a number you can call, I doubt they are on EW looking for comments or complaints. I have called them a few times and so has a friend of mine, and they really do take them seriously. They actually call you back once they have dealt with it, my friend got a call from RTA after she complained about a driver telling her she was wasting his time with her 10AED ride. He got called into the office and was given a written warning. This has been my experience when complaining too.

But its often safer to leave a parking bay facing forwards..... doh! Not all. If it is the parking spaces that are at a 45 degree angle it is NOT safer to reverse into them; it is actually more dangerous as your car is not facing the way of the street. I would have to question who in their right mind would think it normal or logical to reverse park into a slanted parking bay - they're meant for front entry. Although clearly many are reversing into them. yes - well we all know "who" is doing it. Me. But in my defence it's a one way car park that's had an entry at the opposite end opened and it's now two-way. To approach from the new entry means that the slanted spaces are pointing in the wrong direction so I reverse into them. Makes it easier to launch myself out of them :) We have apartment blocks near us with slanted spaces that have the kerbstones at the end so you can't pull too far forward in each space. Some idiot drives the wrong way into the car park every day and parks parallel between the kerbstones instead of butting up against them (difficult to describe).

Maybe they need to be more specific. I used to work for a major international company who insisted that all cars were reverse parked as it was safer for other vehicles and pedestrians to have cars reversing into spaces than reversing out into the car park or road.
