Hi, Just wondering if anyone can offer me some advice? I have a tenant who has rented my property for two and a half years and during this time no property inspections have occurred. The reason for this is that I am not living in Dubai and the lease agreement was directly between myself and the tenant, no agent has been involved (big mistake!) I have been asking for 2 years for photos to be taken and emailed to me to prove that no substantial changes have been made to the apartment without my approval, but they have not done so, despite promising they would. I am suspicious that they have made changes to the property that would justify me evicting them. Does anyone know if I can appoint an agent to inspect the property on my behalf, and if so, can the tenant refuse them entry? The tenant is taking full advantage of the fact that I am not in Dubai and this is just one example. I believe that you can conduct them if you give the tenant notice My LL is selling and has been arranging viewings most weekends. I have to accommodate her if I am given notice therefore I would imagine that inspections are the same Good Luck!

Hi ladies, I am searching S-shaped curtain hooks - the kind that link the hooks IN the curtain to the rings on a pole. Last time I got them in ACE but can't find them there now. I have also checked Sedar, IKEA and Daiso and places in Satwa. Any other ideas please? I think I saw them in Crate and Barrel but they were attached to the curtain on the display pole of the shower curtains! if that makes sense

Our school trips consisted of soggy sandwiches, a packet of crisps, an apply, a yoghurt and either a club or a wagon wheel. :-)

He was amazing! I was so impressed, he put on a great show. I had fun although was taking it easy, had the kids in tow and I'd overdone it a bit the night before ;) Thought it was a great event and the atmosphere was really good. What did you think? Loved it and a lot of space to dance around, nice to see kids of all ages there also

You can go through whichever agent you want and considering you are paying an agency fee to. Someone who doesn't do a lot I would have no loyalty to them at all.

To be honest there is a shop that sells salon products but you won't get any of the decent hair products from there. All the salons in Dubai have a distributor for certain brands therefore you will only find them in the salons and they cost more than they do in the UK or US. I would either open an Aramex Shop and Ship account and buy them online or get friends/family to bring them over when they visit

I haven't heard of any of them :( Think I'll stick to Clapton and Santana :) edited by Geordie expat on 13/02/2014 You would of heard the songs though :-) Not that old. I am sure we can give the young'uns a run for their money Geordie Yes I've heard the songs, just don't take much notice of the names!!! To right we can give the young'uns a run for their money. Just wait until Santana and Eric ;) Air guitar at the ready :-)

Hi, we are going out for my birthday lunch this Monday...and sooo don't want to be the only people in the restaurant. Any suggestions for somewhere with a bit of atmosphere would be soooo appreciated. TIA DIFC restaurants are usually busy. I rarely eat there but I am sure someone can advise a good place.

Thank you sooo much for all your comments and advice! I have done some research online and what I've found is that this mechatronic fault issue is not cheap :( I will definitely call Dexol and ask them what they say! Tazmin, the jerking happens only in first gear and then it's perfect. It was this jerking that made me take the car in and was told by my VW "certified" mechanic (where the previous owner and I have been taking the car for services) that it was the mechatronic unit. They then said that they can replace the parts, but it will need special coding which only VW can fix... so off to VW I went, only to be told it'll cost AED20k. I didn't get a quote from the first guys because they said they couldn't do the whole job so I thought it wasn't worth my while. Thanks again all - will be calling Dexol and hopefully have a better outcome from all of this! Good Luck, let us know how you get on as it would be handy to know incase anything happens to mine in the future
