And so it starts! They said they want to do things amicably and not go through RERA lol! These LLs are unbelievable! SL It's just started for us to too -we\re in the Greens and our LL is trying to put up our rent from 70,000 to 95,000!!! We're also expecting her to go the eviction route next…. I pay 75k and the rent calculator stipulates no increase so check yours too I am willing to come to a financial arrangement regarding renting a new apartment/moving costs. That will be the next email Yes they pay all your moving costs, make sure you get your full deposit back and anything else you can squeeze out of them ;) My friend negotiated the difference in rental costs to a new apartment as one beds in the Greens are now going for 100K! I don't want to get into a row with them but will go by the law if I have too

ah that's the same as us then. my husband wants to watch the spurs match today but we have a message on our tv saying this channel is not available on OSN which is rubbish as we've paid the full subscription aswell. thanks for replying. Someone mentioned on another thread that they had scrambled the signal for people wanting to see the Rugby at the weekend Its terrible and something needs to be done My colleague said none of the EPL is on OSN anymore, you have to subscribe to Al Jazeera/BEIN

. Al Jazeera say its because people are buying the cards and putting them in boxes internationally and watching the games illegally therefore they will only show one match! He has tried to complain to no avail! actually is it the Premier League or Sky who restricted what Al Jazeera can show, and it looks like it is not in Al Jazeera's hands. Maybe to "save face" they are projecting it as their decision. Either ways, they advertised and sold the packages promising all the games live, so it is definitely a breach of contract We will never know

The only thing that I have ever missed in Dubai is Bovril. I was told that the beef used is not halal, maybe Oxo is going the same way. I bought Bovril in a jar here. I am sure I got it at Lulus in Barsha I am sure you can buy Oxo in C4 or maybe I bought it a while back They also had it in the tubes but it makes the gravy taste different to the original variety

Has anyone had any problems with their OSN/Al Jazeera subscription recently? We've heard that we can no longer watch any EPL matches - is this true?? They only show one game at the 3pm UK slot. So if Man U, Man City and Liverpool are playing then they will only show one match. My Male colleague is livid as he pays a subscription to watch all the games. Al Jazeera say its because people are buying the cards and putting them in boxes internationally and watching the games illegally therefore they will only show one match! He has tried to complain to no avail!

Hi Guys, A friend of mine has just sent me this link - thought you should know - although you probably already do - how awful for them - goes to show how much proper research you need to do before you give all your worldly goods to some companies. I feel really sorry for those people who haven't seen there stuff for months. http://gulfnews.com/about-gulf-news/al-nisr-portfolio/xpress/news/scores-of-former-uae-residents-caught-in-relocation-horror-1.1287188 and the lesson is - do your homework. Fingers crossed that they get their stuff soon. Oooh I miss Dubai :) I read this. It is terrible

I tried many different places - if you find somewhere reasonable, please do post back here 10,000 pounds for 3 rooms OMG that is shocking I paid AED 2400 for 2 bedrooms back in 2002 lol. It is the same with the Premier League football Because people are buying the cards and using them outside of the Middle East Jazeera now only show one game instead of 4 which means people pay the subscription and don't get to see their team play. it is shocking!

My friend told me that about Meetup.com also There are different groups though I believe and the heads of some of them do not allow this behavior

I'm planning to study to a nursery teacher. How much do they earn? Do you normally get benefits like flights home? I have experience working with children, but no education related to it. Thank you! I have seen salaries from 4-12k a month however 12k is usually NNEB qualified with experience working in a nursery for a minimum of 3 years

I just don't undertand how even large international banks such as Barclays or Citibank can use so unprofessional credit card sales people.. I just don't understand.. Because they have no affiliation internationally and are not regulated as Barclays would be in the UK. They just use the name here.

Hi all, a friend recently gave birth(2wks ago) and we all met up at a mutual friends house to meet the little one. Baby fell asleep in my arms so mum asked if I would put him down on the bed to sleep so I set him down on his back where they proceeded to put pillows all around him and propped him up on his side. Mum and another friend in the room told me never to place a baby on their back to sleep they must be turned on their side in case they spit up, they won't choke. I said that's strange because everything I've heard or read about SIDS indicate back sleeping is safest. I'm going to give birth soon and am confused now! Would love some additional opinions. Thnx All the Mums in my office said back too

yes, ive heard of this sandy exit, i even went in search for it but couldnt find it. Maybe like you said it must be blocked off now. As far as the new access road...I think its still only on papers as there was no news to follow up the August article. It was blocked off because someone complained to 7 Days about it as it led on to SZR and they were worried it would cause an accident. If people used the exits and roundabouts property it was solve the problem slightly but because people are so selfish they block the exits and push in The police need to be there in the morning to direct the traffic That is not the one. The one i was talking about led to Mohammad bin Zayed road The 7days complaint, which IMO was just scaremongering, was the sandy bit in front of the Gate Hotel. Now after that bit has been blocked, it has been mayhem. as you have the grand total of one lane exiting the entire area. There already has been 2 letters to 7 days in 2 days talking of over an hour spent to exit the area They are both from my colleague. I really do feel for him over this

Yes sarahlou123 I agree with you. It is actually unsafe to use such a route, I haven't seen it...but if it like what you have described then it wouldnt be a good idea. The police needs to be there each morning, i have felt at many occasions that they can really make all the traffic flow a little bit smoother. And probably putting additional cops there will in turn make the authorities consider the need for a better, more permanent solution. Where I live the police patrol each morning People sit in the far right hand lanes to turn left as they don't want to wait in a 6 or 7 car queue! There have been so many accidents as they turn illegally A policeman sat there this morning and many didn't see him. He was busy writing tickets to every one of them. The Gardens needs something like this

Hi All I am not sure if this is the right board to post on - but i need some advice for a friend of mine. She has separated from her husband (they both British) they have a 4 month old son. she is moving away from UAE and would like to know what her monetary entitlement is. The husband is not agreeable to a regular fixed amount. It was my thoughts that this is not the case here in the UAE that the ex husband has to support his wife and child. Any information that you can give would be extremely helpful as this is starting to become an inharmonious situation for all involved. Basically what are her legal rights? (she is not returning to UK or indeed inside the EU either) TIA My friend divorced and now lives in the UK, her ex Husband lives in the UAE and she was told she could do nothing with regards to child support. There was no way she could chase him whilst he lived in the UAE, if he moves back to the UK then she could

This is obviously a problem that has been long identified, something many of us face each morning on our way to work/school. Yet no steps are being taken....and no sign or news of it either. The last I read about this was back in August ( http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/no-more-traffic-jams-new-exit-for-discovery-gardens-gardens-2013-08-25-1.518644 ), following this there has been no update as to when and how soon is this work going to at least begin! In spite of this and so many other problems with discovery, rents are increasing, new communities are being built around (Furjan and some new set of buildings i can see right after Gardens across street 6 I believe). There really needs to be a solution because ppl like myself actually have no choice but to live here since there is no other community with a similar distance to both dubai and abudhabi (which is a requirement for me). The least RTA can do is to make more exits to SZR & mohd. bin zayed road. Has anyone heard any updates on this plan? Is there a way to come together as a community and file a petition on this? edited by Amyly on 05/02/2014 My colleague lives in the Gardens and has spoken to the RTA on several occasions regarding the traffic. They said they have received 1000s of calls however it is down to Nakheel It is taking him well over an hour now to get to work whereas it used to be 20 minutes He writes daily to 7 Days and has asked all people living in the area to do the same and to keep calling the RTA in the hope they get onto Nakheel

The new permitted rent rises of 15-20 percent will most likely have many ex-pats leaving this year. It's not just a matter of affordability but also how much money you want to spend on rent. I've also noticed that the cost of food have gone up. That is why all existing tenants need to stand firm with regards to LL trying to kick them out to increase the rent when the calculator says different :-)
