Contacting her family on Skype is much cheaper than with a sim. So yes, I would get her a device that supports Internet and give her our Wifi password. I mean, these girls are far away from home and family, and for a long long time. Keeping in touch with their kids is crucial for most. I know our maid Skyped with her kids back home on a daily basis. If you don't want to spoil her, tell her it's not hers, but on loan. And to avoid her being on the Internet all day make sure to set the rules clearly. She can Skyoe, Internet etc. in her free time, not during working hours, unless it's strictly necessary. Like

Need inspiration as we are out of ideas and cannot agree. Our first little girl has an Arabic name but easily translatable to English. we would like DD2 to also have a pretty Arabic name but one that is easily pronounced for when we move back to the UK. DH likes Amber but (whispers) I think it sounds like a b*tchy str*pper name........does it??? Lol I have a cousin called Amber What about Sarah :-)

So years ago in the uk I saw an amazing dentist who instead of selling me veneers, whitened my teeth and closed my front gap with moulded fillings, no one ever believes me it's that good a job and has last me 7 years. However it's time to whiten again and replace, I job I'm scared to trust anyone with!! Does anyone know the best cosmetic dentist? I've contacted my uk one and they do zoom whitening with lasers and trays to take away so ideally I'd like to find the same here as not sure if I'm now going the uk. (Which is typical as she's there still working at the same place!) obviously doing it here would save me the flight cost. Thanks ladies DR Michaels on Al Wasl Burjuman Sky Clinic ( German dentist) My friend buys hers off www.dentist.net as it is a lot cheaper and she has beautiful white teeth

Hi ladies, I had to rant a bit, I got health insurance with a pretty high-end package. I went to the doctor 2 days ago and told her I’ve been feeling tired lately and she requested blood tests of Vitamin D, calcium, thyroid etc and she mentioned I have been feeling tired since September. My insurance company rejected the blood tests payment because I should have mentioned ‘tiredness’ as a pre-existing condition when I got the insurance in December. Doesn’t that sound kind of ridiculous? Who would mention they are tired in the preexisting conditions section? LMAO

looking to go to Italy/Rome during the spring break in April... and planning to take our parents and our children along as well so we'll be at least 6 or 7 people travelling... need super cheap airtickets to any one of the Italian cities from Dubai... any ideas?!! Good Luck! Try Sky Scanner Unfortunately the major airlines here put their already high prices up at Easter! The low cost airlines are Wizz Air, Air Arabia and Gulf Air however I do not know if they fly to Italy without going halfway around the world

Not bad, I looked for the first week in June, still over 4,000. BA are still cheaper for Easter and June! Never flying EK again at this rate! I cant get to Manchester for less than 4k Even if I go to London first and catch another flight Oop North it is still more expensive than EK direct to Manchester :-( One of the reasons we can't go home very often :( It often works out cheaper to meet somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately my family is huge so I don't have that option :-( More shopping in UK woo hoo

I will make it short! We have been having troubles with our LL. I know many of us are in the same position as well!! So, I took the morning off and went to Rera to get it finally sorted. I have to say this was the best thing I did. They are great! I got all my questions answered in no time. Very friendly Staff and they knew their Law in and out! I really recommend to do it! I did call them and got most of my questions answered on the phone but we did have many emails from the LL which they asked me to show to them. RERA or the Rent Committee? I thought the rent committee dealt with disputes over LL I am confused now

It is unfortunate that the fine for parking in a safe spot which is unmarked is bigger than reversing dangerously on the hard shoulder of a highway :) And more than driving whilst using your mobile phone!

Whatever I search on google, I finally find useful answers on here. Hence created an ID hoping to get some good advice on my problem. I was a working woman before having my baby. I quite my job due to extreme morning sickness and decided to take a short career break. Now Im ready to work but Im slightly choosy this time since I have a LO. Its been 2-3 months since I have been sending applications on selected companies and profiles but in vain. I remember last time I was able to find a job in just 2 months and I received prompt responses and many interview calls from companies without much wait. I'm really getting worried because this is the first time I'm staying at home for so long and also finding it a little difficult to get interview calls. Can anyone tell me if the recruitment over here is slowed down? (I thought expo 2020 is going to bring in more opportunities). If not, can you suggest any effective ways to get more interview calls other than posting on various Job Portals and Career Websites. Recruitment is busy however I do not feel we will feel the impact of EXPO just yet Clients are a lot more particular regarding candidates than they were pre 2009 Recruiters and companies receive hundreds of applications and can cherry pick down to the last details. Approaching companies directly may be a better route to go down Good Luck!

After yet another shopping experience where I left the mall frustrated and empty-handed, I think it's time to ask for advice. I honestly don't understand why Dubai is known as a shopping mecca - there's nothing here you can't get elsewhere for cheaper. Since moving here a year and a half ago, I've not found a single place to shop where I can find decent quality clothes for reasonable prices. I'm currently looking for office wear as my work wardrobe is woefully inadequate, and I just can't seem to find anything. It seems like everything in the mall is ill-fitting and cheap or hideously expensive. There's nothing in between. I was hoping to find something good in the DSF sales, but it seems to be all winter coats, big wooly sweaters and stuff that's 12 sizes too big. Help! UK or US websites and Aramex Shop and Ship I never buy here unless it is 80% reduced :-) I buy a lot from Warehouse, M&S, Oasis and Dorothy Perkins for work I recently bought 4 skirts online for 60AED each whereas here they were AED180 each!!! I know my sizes in these shops so don't have a problem buying online edited by sarahlou123 on 20/01/2014

Bloomingdales at Dubai mall do it regularly. They dont advertise things things though so you just have to go to the shop. Sometimes the shop assistants at the make up counters will also do it for you if you buy a few of their products. Be careful though as some of them are awful and you may end up being caked in makeup that doesn't suit you skin tone or colouring!

Never thought I would have to do this but how easy is it to cancel a villa contract before end of one year? We hold a standard contract - no 'extra clauses'. Thinking perhaps if we were to find new tenants for the landlord, this might be an option to broach to him? Thanks They may although mine says 2 months penalty

So what about FZ? for that you require labor card? Do you know how long it would take to get a labor card i.e after i submit all my documents? OSC I work for a private company and i work in jebel ali. FZ? or OSC? edited by sarahlou123 on 20/01/2014 As per the OSC you cannot be on Fathers or Husbands sponsorship By law you have to be sponsored by the OSC I have clarified this with 2 of my multinational clients there No labor card is given OSC can also clarify this I hope this helps. I have no idea about FZ tbh. Although it depends if your employer is under OSC or the FZ The Jebel Ali authorities can advise on this but if you are in OSC then you should be sponsored by them. This is law

Try Dr Allen I went to him on Saturday. They have an offer on aswell so it was 1530 for a full head He was a really good guy and I would go back again without hesitation Sarahlou, where is he at? I'd want botox and fillers done but haven't found the courage yet. is it painful? Dr Allen Rezai is in DHCC, he does my botox and I also have PRP with him. He is very good. what is PRP? sorry not very knowledgeable on this subject ;) does it involve needles as well? I think it is like the Vampire facials ( Don't quote me on this) I will be honest and say don't waste your money. My friend and I had it done and it wasn't worth the money at all
