Yes I was informed by the school around 10.30 am, I wonder what working parents are meant to do? I think the impending weather has been highly exaggerated although I suppose it is better to be safe than sorry. Clear skies where I am and the rain has dried up ooh - you michael fish..... :\: You must be old to remember him Izzy?. I don't ;-)

I know of 3 people personally and 1 lady on here who took the LL to court and won The rent committee at said hearings are very fair and abide by the law If I have to open a case with my LL then I will, as 3% is well spent It will cost me far more to move again Of course, I wouldn't mind spending the 3%. It's peanuts compared to money I have to spend once I move. What concerns me is, I am not 100% sure I will win the case (re: the addendum) Not unless someone out there can assure me that the addendum will not harm my chances. I can fight. You are dammed if you do dammed if you don't.. I wish you luck :-)

I am a huge fan of clothes from the UK high street especially Oasis In Dubai they are 30-50% more expensive. I go and try on what I like here and order it through the UK website. The savings I have made are enormous as the UK shops constantly have sales on Shop and Ship deliver within 5 days. I used to be an avid clothes shopper here but once I discovered Shop and Ship I rarely if ever buy clothes here Thanks Sarahlou. I struggle to find petite clothing here and many things. I know UK has sales on now which is quite unusual this time of the year. Having issues to scan my ID arghh..so itching to shop right now lol I don't remember scanning my ID.. The UK always has sales :-)

It would be great if someone can provide a link where to download a PDF file for the latest laws regarding Tenancy in Dubai. I've searched but I found a 2007 one. I can quote the articles in websites like what Meagle linked. But I think it's better if there's an actual copy of the law that I can hold on to. Use the search bar above and input the word rent/rental disputes etc There are so many links to a PDF with the laws on

Hi how did you get on with this issue. Our LL is trying to do the same thing. Madge you mention rent committee does not recognise non renewable - where does it say this? TIA The Rent Committee will advise you of this I have had so many friends open cases and get this advice It is a ploy for the LL to ask you to leave as they can only do this for the 4 reasons stated in the law.

Sarah Lou, if you are Talking about Dr. Laetitia she' s great, I agree with you, she is following also my daughter with braces. But she' s not Italian, she's Lebanese! But married to an Italian guy! The very same lady ha. I only thought she was Italian as Dr Jafar said she was ( I was sedated at the time) I love them all there, they are so nice

@Meagle Nowhere in the contract says it's "Non-Renewable" it's stamped as "Non-Negotiable" I have also been told by a Lawyer that the non renewable do not stand up against the rent committee and are not recognized :-)

Hadn't realised that you aren't allowed to sell on the entertainer vouchers you don't want... Just got a slap on the wrist from Dubizzle. That being said, does anyone want the Golf vouchers? Realise they are quite sought after but I haven't used them. There are guys on there who sell them. One of my colleague buys them from him all the time ;-) That's what I had heard, let your colleague know that there are more available! Haha I just asked him and he says thank you but has golf ones up to December ( care of his man off Dubizzle)

First of all - are you within the 90 days of end of contract or outwith that? This affects whether he can raise rent in conjunction with the rental calculator. To get you out he HAS to give you 12 months notice officially with the reason. Secondly - do not talk to him - only e mail and keep copy of all...useful in case you need later.. Keep a note of all communications e.g. calls, visits to the apartment , e mails etc etc... Rent committee - seemingly the new one is open at the Land Registry office ( google - it is in all the newspapers) - you could try going there - not sure of costs etc Advice - stay firm and polite in emails and say you want to renew according to the laws regulating this. If you want a lawyer you will pay about 1700 dhs for a consult and letter. If you have to open a case against LL at the rent committee is it 3% of your annual rent ( Money well spent)

I have the plastic see-through brace that I wear at night, is this what you are talking about? I used Dr Ali at the Mercato Family Clinic next to Mercato Mall. Really nice Iranian guy who accepts all insurance, been to him for years. Is that not the retainer they give you after the braces comes off?

hi all, I am planning on getting invisible braces done soon. On searching for the query term "best orthodontist dubai" in google.ae it shows up Dr.Micheals, Dr.Nazeer Ahmed Meeran and versaillesdentalclinic in the query results. I have heard about them already while inquiring for braces at various clinics last month, but If someone who has experience with any of these 3 Orthodontists could post their reviews it would be very helpful for me in choosing one of them for further procedure. Please mention the treatment you underwent, cost and Dr's ease of access. Thanks in Advance. I am having invisalign fitted. My dentist is currently working out a plan for me and the costs will be on there. The orthodontist is a Italian lady who works at the Jumeriah Beach Dental Centre on Beach road. They are cheaper than DR Michaels ( higher prices don't necessarily mean better dentists) I have been with my dental practice for 3 months and don't want to use anyone else They are very professional, 3 of my friends also use them and all of the staff are so friendly and put you at ease. They explain everything as they go along which helps. It is going to take a while for me to have the perfect teeth but I am getting there!

We dont use the maids room in our villa for the maid, she has one of the bedrooms upstairs with us. She has a nice double bed, 2 double wardrobes, chest of drawers, Tv unit, Tv, DVD player, Evision, laptop, blackberry and we also bought her a hair dryer. She uses all our stuff in the kitchen but tends to go out on her day off anyway and if she has friends over they just hang out in the garden or in her room Just ask and see what she would prefer Can I move in :-) haha

@sarahlou He just wants to use the apartment for personal use. Yeah right !!!! If he, or one of his immediate family members, wants to live in it, he HAS to give you 12 months notice from the end of your current contract stating that. And have it deliverd legally. More like raise the rent ;-)

@Izzy I've scheduled the lock to be replaced tonight. I know it's wrong that I postponed it for so long but I never knew this would happen. It's so unfair. What do you guys think can the LL do to me for the mean time? As of now, the apartment's contract is on going and will only expire on January 2014. Is there someone out there who can help me if this gets worse? Any hotline I can call from the Rent Committe? Do I need a lawyer for this? If all goes bad 999 is the number for the Police. He cannot do anything. What reason has he asked for you to leave?

What a lovely Man threatening a Woman then saying he will tell his Brother! Stand firm, keep a record of everything, try and record all this via email. He has no rights whatsoever I highly doubt his Brother would get involved. Good luck and keep us posted No doubt I will be going through a similar scenario next yr!

I always thought that putting your Christmas Tree up was personal preference. Taking it down though, has to be done before 12th night, always. same. My dad would have a conniption if he knew we sometimes keep our tree up after the 12th day! Sometimes its just so pretty, I don't want to! lol The same in our house. It always looked so bare once It was taken down

It's absolutely real. If you look carefully at the road, you can see the white lines on the left, which guide the left-hand truck to move away - the right truck stays straight. JCVD used to do ballet - he's extremely flexible. The splits is one of his trade mark moves. There's a making of video on youtube. When it's explained what they want him to do - the look on his face, like 'you want me to do what now?'. I was transfixed! One of the best ads I have seen in a long time

Hi Ladies Can anyone recommend a hair salon/stylist that will put up your hair for a very special dinner do? Maybe someone that comes to the house?? TIA Jet Set at Grosvenor house do amazing up do's I go there for my braids and Loveida is amazing, they give you an Ipad with many styles to chose from. I have had so many comments when she has done my hair and even guys have stopped me to ask who did my hair haha. It isn't expensive either as I wash and rough dry my hair at home. Dirty hair is easier to play with with up do's You can also valet park outside the hotel and they will stamp the card Cool that sounds perfect will give them a try...thanks I wish I could send you the pics of mine. The lady is a genius! well I will speak to them today to get an appointment since I am hopeless with doing my own hair on special occasions!!! :) Me too. If my memory serves me correctly she charged 120AED which is a bargain

Hello Mums.. My 3 months old baby girl is suferring from bad cold, esp during the night time. Her nose gets congested and shez not able to sleep at all.. finds it hard to take feed too. I really dont know whatz to be done... should I take her to doc or is there any home remedy for cold...? Pls. help... I'm a new Mum :) Also please let me know if it is ok to give her oil massage before bath when she has colds..? I'm kinda scared and itz been around 2 weeks since I stopped oiling her, I'm concerned as I think babies do need oil massage esp in winter. Appreciating your advice.. Regards Ammu edited by ammu07elvis on 19/11/2013 I would try saline nasal drops. I think they can be used in babies and will provide relief, you can buy them from most pharmacies. I think Panadol liquid can be administered with a syringe if she has a slight temperature May I ask why you think oil massages are needed? ( As I have never heard of this)
