Best thing I ever did. Had mine done with DR Khan in 2010 Minimal scarring, back to work in 2 days with no pain killers My friend had both done in Brussels and recently had the scars tattooed to the same colour as her skin. They look incredible

As far as I am aware he cannot give you 12 months notice until the end of your contract and then, as has been said he has to specify one of about four reasons, why he needs you to move out. So if your contract ends mid-July 2014 you should get 12 months notice, taking you to mid-July 2015, You are correct. I know so many people including myself who are going through this at present

Hi, We have moved to Dubai 3 months back and we have a son who is almost 3 years old. He is currently attending to a nursery and in the process of learning English with the help of the nursery which is half a day only. We are not speaking English at home and we would like to speed up the process of getting accustomed to the language. We are looking for a kid at about 15-16 years old who can come to our apartment and play with our son for about 4-8 hrs a week. We will be providing the play material, the content of the play as well as some pocket money. But it goes without saying that he/she should be living close by also. We are in Shoreline Res in Palm. It also goes without saying that they will always be under our supervision. It will also be good for the kid who will come, because he/she will be earning some pocket money as well as he/she will also be learning how to take responsibilities. In case anyone is interested in please send me a message. PS We cannot have an English teacher or similar, mainly because our son is not able to have focused lessons yet. He has to learn the language during time within the processes of playing. You do realize this is highly illegal and open to so many bad things happening I think highly illegal is exaggerating a bit, don't you? In any economy, a grey area exists where the commerce is too small to warrant government intervention. Do teenage babysitters in the US have to pay tax? Legally yes but in practice, no ... and I can't imagine what would be so bad if the mother is present at all times. We are not in the US

Thanks very much for all the responses! I have heard about 'nannies always looking for jobs', but I didn't know it was illegal. And to be honest I didn't even think about this aspect. I guess I could try to look for a babysitter - someone who doesn't do childcare as her profession? Thanks again This is also illegal and not covered by insurance incase of accident/theft etc

I am such an odd one with this - I must be the only person who doesnt find Chanel No 5 as sophisticated as everyone else. It smells too heavy and 'dated' to me - similar in range to what was in vogue back in the 70's. I wonder if anyone else feels the same? Funnily enough I love Issey Miyake which isnt new but doesnt smell 'old' iykwim, and also Cool Water Davidoff or Aqua di Gio. They are fresh, water based scents, though, so not very evening wear for some, but still works for me. I do love Pleasures from your list, OP. Tell us what you went with! edited by Redrec Tangle on 06/11/2013 I agree regarding the Chanel Number 5, it reminds me of my Grandma edited by sarahlou123 on 07/11/2013

My doctor has given me the option to deliver in one of the two hospitals. I think the most important aspect for me to decide would be the quality of care provided by the midwives since the doctor will only come right at the end, and I feel the guidance of a good midwife would be really important to ensure a smooth labour. Would anyone like to share a good or a bad experience with their midwife in Dubai. It would be great if you could mention the hospital name. I can't give advice on midwives but I have heard Al Zahra hospital in Barsha has an excellent reputation for midwives and deliveries in general

A friend who is a teacher in a BC school is wanting to know her rights and the regular labor law doesn't apply to her situation. Does anyone know where/who she can go to seek advice? TIA Does it not apply because she is a teacher? I though the LL applied to all employees of the UAE ( except those in FZ as they are different)

Hi I've got a one-year-old son and I'm looking for a nanny for occasional afternoons and evenings. Currently we don't need a full time nanny, which makes it tricky with agencies, as unless full time, they can't guarantee that they always send the same person... Does anyone have a nanny or knows someone in the Downtown area who may be willing to do a few extra evenings a months and potentially a few afternoons? (the little boy is in nursery three mornings a week, and I may have some ad hoc full day work) We are likely to need someone full time from next summer - if there is someone who knows they are going to leave Dubai then and in the meanwhile wouldn't mind if their nanny did a bit of extra work every now and then, I'd love to hear from you. It would be great to take someone on in summer who we know a bit by then. This would be the ideal situation. But any thoughts on reliable occasional childcare would be appreciated. Many thanks! It is illegal to share a nanny/maid in the UAE If the said nanny/maid is caught moonlighting with another employer her sponsor would incur a huge fine and said person could also be deported. You would also not be insured If the nanny/maid stole from you etc You couldn't report her to the police as you would be in trouble for hiring someone who isn't sponsored by you Agency is the only safe route edited by sarahlou123 on 06/11/2013

VIP is right at the back of the ampitheatre not close to the stage at all I always go for the slightly higher option as it is front of stage. Apart from the Usher concert I have never been squashed/had problems getting drinks or using the ladies. You cannot access front of stage with VIP only the back slightly raised area.

I'm new on Expat woman and i need a help, i'm considering to do breast augmentation, and i heard of two good doctors( Dr. Shalbi) and Dr. Buthaina Shunnar. Any one had it with any of these 2 doctors.if yes could you advice me of any useful information and approximately the cost. Thank you Tuti I used DR Khan 3 years ago so cannot advise on the above people When I did my research I wanted a reconstructive surgeon who had trained/worked at a Western establishment. DR Khan came highly recommended by several friends and colleagues I paid AED24000 and it was the best thing I ever did. The operation was painless just a little uncomfortable afterwards. I was back at work within 2 days and took no medication for pain. I would advise that you do as much research as you can with these surgeons. Personally speaking I have never heard of either of them Good Luck .

Let me rephrase... I've cut out ALL simple carbs :) - i.e. breads, pastas... But I'm also following (not a fad diet... it's a very precise athletic diet) which gives me energy to burn - higher fats, lower carbs, simple as that. I also believe in eating "real food" for a period to see how your body feels - like fruits, veggies - eliminating processed stuff. I also try to make smart choices - for "mash", I'd sub sweet potato or mashed cauliflower for regular white potatoes. Been working well so far :) I also lift - pretty heavy too... the weights has sped up my firming up and fat loss. It's what works for me ;) And I'm pretty happy! I love mashed sweet potato with carrots! Weights are amazing and I think a lot of ladies are afraid to lift due to appearing too muscly I followed the body for life and the results are amazing :-)

Thank you sarahlou123, that was my initial thought but just wanted to find out other opinion, I don't want her to think that I am being too strict, she is great, but it's inacceptable to be constantly on the phone even when my LO asks her to play with her. What would you do if she continues with this behavior after your warning not to use her phone? (just in case she does, once I told her). Thank you I am allowed to use my phone at work but in moderation only and certainly not If I was in charge of a child. I do not know how you could stop her as if I were told by my Manager to stop using my phone I would as I wouldn't want to face the sack Tell her you will remove her WIFI if she doesn't do as told. I am not a huge fan of mobile phones, to some people it is a pure addiction. I remember the nice times pre mobiles etc ha I don't have a maid but If I did I would want her to be concentrating on my child not gabbing for hours on end. .

I do cardio and weights plus there is a great app for your phone called My Fitness Pal which records all intakes Cutting carbs out completely is not the way to go. It is everything in moderation and the problem with these fad diets are that you pile the weight back on whereas eating well and exercising will help you lose the weight gradually over time which is far better Aim for 1kg thereabouts a week Both SW and WW have online sites you can join Good Luck

Hi ladies, Could anyone please help on how to deal with the nanny's mobile phone, do you have any policies in place? How would you deal with a Maid/Nanny when your 3years old child tells you that she is constatntly on her phone and does not play with them, when she is supposed to be babysitting them? She does have the wifi password by the way. And got herself a new phone recently. Thank you! Ask her to not use her phone during work hours unless in emergencies.

Other places probably would as well but Home Centre is very good value. With scented candles - Bath & Body or whatever it is called have a huge choice and they smell lovely, they also sell pretty holders to put them in. Please someone feel free to correct me with the shop name, I can't remember what it is called! Bath and Bodyworks close to Boots in MOE :-)

Some of the Jo Malone scents are very unusual - one or two of them I don't like but others are lovely. Apparently Kate Middleton wore the lime and basil one for her wedding! It is lovely to have a scent that reminds you of an occasion - I actually quickly spritzed on some of my sister's perfume (Coco Mademoiselle) as I was about to leave for the church on my wedding day as had forgotten to put my own into my bag and now whenever I smell it I am instantly reminded of my wedding day, lovely. I second Jo Malone scents they are unusual and smell beautiful

I am a LL in Switzerland and a tenant here in Dubai. We have had to move 4 times in 6 years and each time we had to pay an agent to find us somewhere else to live plus the removal fees. There are rules are in place for a reason and if for one second LL's had to pay the agency fees, they would think twice about kicking tenants out. The market here is definitely over-inflated and the bubble will burst again..... it's a given Like Like Like Like. I too am a LL in the UK and have moved in Dubai 4 times in 7 years.
