Somebody told me once that they knew of someone who had 2 (duplicates) so I was hoping that it was a true story and not a Dubai story! and that it was possible. Looking on IPS I can't find anything, or even a number to call and ask :( Try this number if it works from Dubai 0905 915 2016 http://www.passport-service.co.uk/index.html edited by sarahlou123 on 26/06/2013 <em>edited by sarahlou123 on 26/06/2013</em>

Hi does anyone know where Dr osama jaber has gone to? He was at sulaiman Al habib in healthcare city but when I rang he said he is no longer there and they won't tell me where he has gone to. He did the circumcision for my first son and he was excellent and wanted to find him to do the circumcision for my second baby. Thanks. Have you tried Googling him online. usually when they move they update their profile or you find them elsewhere. Tried Linked In also as a lot of DR's are on there

Has anyone got one - or know how to go about getting on? OH travels so much, and we would rather he had a spare one, just in case. I've looked at the IPS website - but no mention of it. TIA x I think you can have extra pages added but never knew about having a spare I thought you could only have one at a time?

I've just gone through this with M&S in the UK - hadn't realised originally they didn't send to PO Boxes. Used my work street address though it doesn't actually have a street number (think mum made one up) and seems to have gone through. Fingers crossed. M&S sent mine without PO Box however Emirates post returned it as the PO Box was missing My full work address was on the address however CS at the post office said anything without a PO Box is automatically returned

Hi ladies, Came back to my car today to see someone had scraped my car door paintwork by someone opening their door against my car presumably. As it was a bad scrape I phoned the police and I now have the slip to go to the police station at the trade centre tomorrow. My question is what happens when you get there? Can my husband go on my behalf with all the documents (he is a registered driver on my car) or do i need to be there in person as its my car? Does anyone know what time it opens? What documents are required and how long it takes? Thanks!!! I have called the police in the past and have been given a green or pink slip never white Hubby can go all you need is reg card and insurance details I imagine they open at 7.30am

I have some twenty something visitors that would like to do a Friday brunch. I thought Yalumba or Saffron would be good for them but they are fully booked. Does anyone have other recommendations? Thanks There is a lively one in the Habtoor Grand at the Marina Grand grill Warehouse at Le Meridien Westin Bubbalicious which is huge! <em>edited by sarahlou123 on 25/06/2013</em>

Wouldn't it be great if there was a means of looking up an address or landlord to find out how good or bad their reputation is. Departing tenants could provide info on condition of property, hidden problems, how good the LL is etc. It's about time something more could be done to make LL's accountable and something like this would surely be an incentive to fulfil their responsibilities. If it can be done for schools....... Brilliant idea! Someone should start a Dubai Landlord Rating website. Mine would get 9/10. He reduced my rent this year. :) I doubt this will ever happen here. I cannot imagine being allowed to give anyone a bad rating on line in the UAE

Ah thanks. Yes ideally we would not sponsor a maid but get more of a 'freelancer' / 'contractor' maid to come and do some part time work. Thanks for the info. I willl keep searching. Maids do not freelance The only legal way is to use an agency however I cannot advise on any decent ones sorry Do not employ one part time that is sponsored by another family as you could cause the family a huge fine and the maid deportation They should be lots of threads about agency maids if you use the "search posts" bar above Good luck :-)

Hi, I am planning a 7 days trip with two kids to south of Germany. Does anybody can recommend places to go that could be fun for a 10 and 8 years old? I will be flying direct to Munich, but I don't have anything planned after that, any suggestion would be great! Thanks! http://www.mygermancity.com/places-to-visit-in-germany I am so jealous I lived in the North of Germany for many years and would move back there in a heartbeat!

When I started to read this post I was also going to suggest Jebel Ali. Its great for a day trip or weekend getaway. There are lots of sun loungers on the beach and around the pools, but sometimes it does get very busy so it might not be as peaceful as you want. Maybe Bab Al Shams would be quieter, or Banyan Tree Beach Resort at RAK? I also think you can get day passes for Al Maha which might even be adults only. It was lovely and quiet this weekend and only a few holiday makers, even the restaurants were quiet which was bliss!

As said by other posters Cathay Pacific does not fly direct to London it flies via HK which is 8 hours in the wrong direction. Most airlines fly to Heathrow, some fly to Gatwick (smaller South East airport or City which is a tiny airport in the heart of The City of London) Direct flights would be: British Airways (UK Flagship Carrier) Virgin (UK Based Carrier) Emirates (Dubai Based Carrier - flies to Heathrow or Gatwick) Etihad (UAE Flagship Carrier Abu Dhabi Based) Royal Brunei (Brunei Flagship Carrier but stop in Dubai) Qantas (Australia Flagship Carrier but recently entered into code share agreement with Emirates and stops in Dubai) One Stop (reasonable distance but dependent on connections - this is where the cheapest flights may be found) Gulf Air (connects in Bahrain) Qatar Airways (connects in Doha) Swiss Air (connects in Zurich - flies to Heathrow or City) Lufthansa (connects in Frankfurt or Munich - flies to Heathrow or City) One Stop (these airlines tend to have not so good connections or are slightly further off route but you may find one that works) Oman Air Turkish Airways KLM Austrian Air France Expedia.com / Expedia.co.uk is a good place to start looking, although I generally book direct with the airline (where possible) after getting information from Expedia. Gulf Air are generally quite cheap. edited by RuthM on 25/06/2013 Not relative but glad I am not the only one awake at silly O'Clock! Sorry I'm in Hong Kong, just flew here with Cathay Pacific (ironically) so it's not quite silly O'Clock here! Do not fly Air France it was the worst flight ever, service and food was rotten, old plane and seats were tiny!

Sorry to post this question, for most probably the 100th or more time, but every time I try and search I get thrown out :( DH and I are looking for a nice hotel, where we can spend the day one weekend using the pool and/or beach. We're not bothered if it's licensed or not, but we would like somewhere quiet and preferably with as few children as possible. Adults only would be good if there is such a thing. And before I get shouted down, I'll be doing all the children places when our grand-kids come over :) Hope someone can help, thanks. I do not know of any where there are no kids but at the weekend I went to the Jebel Ali Beach Resort and Spa. The beach was very quiet and they have 3 pools where there were a few kids knocking about but no screaming ;-) I love it there as it actually feels as if you are out of Dubai itself even though it is 30 mins from town. The waiters came onto the beach and the sea was gorgeous :-)

Hi, I need your help to recommend me a hairdresser. My hair is longer than the middle of my back now, dyed but in a natural color and I need to do something about it ...at the moment it is just wild and without any shape. I need a great hairdresser, regardless of the costs, who can come up with good ideas and suggest something that will change my looks completely. Please help, if you can recommend someone. I need someone who cuts hair "scientifically", someone who studied, a real hairdresser, someone who knows how to match the hairstyle to the shape of my face. Thank you Salon Ink or Ted Morgan Salon Ink Ali or Kelly

Surely adolescence / pre-puberty starts when they start getting extra hair / periods / BO / b00bs etc, therefore the age is irrelevant. Yes it is getting younger but that does not mean it is not happening. I wouldn't walk round with hair on my own legs so why should I expect my DD to. I would be mortified so if she comes to me telling me she is mortified I would be a hypocrite to say no. Same with deodorant etc. I wear it and if she needs it, I will be buying it for her whether she is 8 or 12 or 16. I won't draw attention to the extra hair but if she is uncomfy and wants rid then yes I will help her. These things are really embarrassing for young girls and I had no guidance from my mum who is fair haired so had barely any anyway. I just think it is the most awful horrible punishment to expect them to deal with it on their own when we ourselves as women would not walk around with BO / hairy legs etc. As soon as she comes to me I will guide and help her sensitively. Kids are teased mercilessly now so I agree I had a dark birthmark on my face and was teased from a very young age. I was constantly in tears and once old enough I paid to have it removed. I entirely agree with your post and if we can stop this by giving in to something as innocent as a bra or bra top then why not. I know people want to keep their children young for as long as they can but I hardly think buying them a bra top etc will turn them into s*x crazed loonies

Most people keep them as they are valid until the end of the year. It is not allowed to buy individual vouchers. They often do trial vouchers on their website but if you're going to use more than 3 or 4 vouchers it is worth buying new. Thanks. Some people do sell them as I have seen on here before. Also people who are leaving for home may want to sell too, so will keep fingers crossed. Have a look on Dubizzle my colleagues buy them off there

There is a safety shop in Time Square that sells a contraption that deals with these cords somehow and removes the risk of this problem. I find it so scary how many dreadful accidental deaths in children we hear about in the UAE I wonder if it is as bad globally? The little one who suffocated in the car recently, the baby battered to death by the maid for example :-( I think it is something that happens everywhere although somehow it's especially shocking for those from the colder countries to hear about little children suffocatinging in hot cars because it's not really a problem we're used to. But with the window blind cords, this has been an ongoing issue for years and years.I remember when my DD was tiny being absolutely paranoid about it.We had special cords on her blackout blinds that had an easy break catch on them. My ex colleague in the UK lost her niece :-( she got tangled up in the cord). Her Mum was deaf and had literally walked into the kitchen when it happened. The parents never got over it

I have a big problem with DU. I want to have my refund of international roaming (2000 AED) back. I called customer service about the procedure and they told me to send my request along with bank details to them via email. After 20 days getting hold on anybody from costumer service, somebody called me now and told me that they cannot proceed my request as they need the slip of the deposit. It is a long time ago since I paid the deposit. But I believe I never got a slip. I am taking care normally about these things and file them in my personal folder along with other documennts. I have the amount of the statement of account of my bank as I paid the deposit by debit card. Has anybody went through the same procedure recently? I am so frustated after calling and texting them for 2 weeks. edited by tinf1987 on 24/06/2013 Why not go into one of the branches. I find the guys at the main place in DMC are fantastic and they advised me never to speak to the phone operators! ;-)

I dont intend to start a debate on the effectiveness/cons of the diet, ive done my research and ive made up my mind and am going to try it. Please share your scientific based research on this. Beyoncé did it before Dreamgirls and lost a huge amount of weight. I imagine it is controversial as it was very low in calories however the poster is a big girl :-) I would not think it is something that can be sustained in the long run however for a quick fix I believe many famous people have done it to crash diet <em>edited by sarahlou123 on 24/06/2013</em>

I've lost count of how many birthday/Christmas cards that haven't arrived in the six years we have been here. Hi all, I'm moving to a new apartment and need a really good professional painter who can also get rid of some small holes that have been left on the walls by the previous occupier. Do you have any recommendations? I also have a fridge that needs repairing. Thanks so much! Shouldn't the real estate company or LL sort that out before you move in If the previous occupant did not fill walls or paint then LL normally take a portion of their deposit to cover this. Every apartment I have lived in ( There have been many) this is part of the deal

I live in Shaikh Zayed Road near Crown Plaza. I use a lady that works for Roots They have a salon on beach road however she comes to my house in the evenings/Saturday Her name is Donna and she is from the UK ( Has lived and worked in Dubai for 12 years) Much cheaper than going to a salon 055-4091400 Otherwise you have Salon Ink ( Ali) which is in the mall opposite the Beach Park

Thank you for the information. Really has helped and I think we should perhaps broaden our search. Does anyone know when Jumeirah Park will be finished? I have researched the area and seen that a community center will be built including supermarket and other retail shops but unsure when this will open. Regarding rental hikes is it beneficial to sign a 2 year contract or can the landlord still increase the rent? All rental contracts are for 1 year Do not sign a non renewable contract All rent increases are subject to the rent calculator

Hello Ladies, I am looking for a home maintenance company with whom I sign an annual contract for basic home/ac maintenance in the meadows. We have received quotes from Nitty Gritty and Hitches and Glitches (as these are the ones we see most often around the area), however I am looking for experiences/suggestions for any other companies and would appreciate advise...thanks I think Emrill also do one. I have used them as I am in an Emaar property and have never had an problems with them
