Mine was done by my Dubai GP, who worked in the UK for a number of years and it wasn't any different than it was it the UK (she used the brush). That was Dr Shagupta at Medcare on Beach Rd. There are two female GPs there (ther other is Dr Runina, New Zealand trained): I cannot recommend them highly enough. For peace of mind, I would get it re-done as it doesn't sound right. Mine was done the same way as the UK I use DR Andrea on Al Wasl

I have from Karama - a chanel, 3 Chloe, a prada and some mulberry purses. Got a mulberry bag from Michael (British Asian with East London accent, ca't remember the shop!) that I had to return. My CHanel and the Chloes are all good quality, the Prada is just OK. You should be able to get a mulberry for about 50GBP, shop around because quality varies. If she's in the UK tell her to check out BIBA at House of Fraser, they do lovely accessories and there's a sale on at the moment. Karen Millen also do good bags. Myself I love the Dooney and Bourke All Weather Leather bags from the 80s and 90s - I buy them on ebay and etsy - amazing quality and they last forever If it is the same Michael he is Iranian hehe and does not sound like an East Londoner at all ;-)

Thanks :-) I have a shop and ship account through Aramex Easy to open and ordered from the UK Debenhams sales yesterday. Managed to bag a lot of bargains! You can have them delivered here then

Emirates Post is cheap, but I'm not sure it will actually arrive. We tried to send a letter through them when we arrived and it took 3 weeks to come back to us--never left UAE--despite that it was addressed to someone in the States! Mine is always the opposite way around 1 week to get to UK, 4 weeks to get here grrrr

A cousin has secured a work placement for a year in Dubai during his gap year from university in the UK. He has asked me to find out about where he could live as he will be getting a meager stipend from his work. I'm not sure what type of visa the company will issue so will it be possible for him to get an annual tenancy contract for a studio if he doesn't have a residence visa? (Not sure what the rules are for this). I've had a look on Dubizzle but the options seem to be way too expensive for a student on a placement year. I would love any information and/or ideas that I can pass on to him! Thanks. I feel most LL will ask for a residents visa and would like to assume that he will get some form of sponsorship from the company otherwise depending on nationality he will have to do visa runs on a regular basis

For real bags for you, how about a good leather one from Debenhams? If she is from UK it is cheaper to buy them from Debenhams in the UK They are 30% more expensive to buy in Dubai as your friend to buy you one :-) I go back almost every summer but rarely have time to go proper shopping with price comparisons! Debs is on sale now. Is it still cheaper. To buy in the UK? I find the sales in Debenhams are full of outdated stock. They mark them up to mark the stuff down so it is rarely if ever cheaper. You can compare online with Debenhams in the UK

For real bags for you, how about a good leather one from Debenhams? That's what I have my heart set on :) Can you vouch for the quality for everyday use? I have a few from Jasper Conran and Julian McDonald, had them for years and they are still in mint condition. Open a shop and ship account and get them sent here. It would still work out cheaper than buying in Dubai :-)

Of course it isn't. You are either very ill-mannered or this is a wind up question No, not a wind up. I was in Gloria Jeans yesterday with a few mins to kill, it was kind of open seating, and this woman came with her cake and coffee, sat down and tuned her mobile into some loud Hindi/disco stuff and sat there tapping her feet. I was really put out and glared at her......nearly said something but then wondered if this is the norm these days, not really a mall/coffee shop person. Not the norm and I would of told her to shut it off if it was annoying other patrons

Please don't shoot me as this is not for me. A friend in the UK, wants a Mulberry that costs 700 quid on sale from their site. She has asked me to go and find it for her in Karama! She is not willing to pay more than a 150 quid but is concerned about the quality. She says it's ok if it doesn't last a lifetime but doesn't want it to fall apart in a year either! Any feedback? Now for me. I too want a new bag and want one that will last 2 years at least. Please give me some feedback on bags from naturaliser, nine west, debemhams and marks. There are so many other shops selling bags in Mirdif city centre, what about those? Don't want to spend more than 500dhs, I am just not a bag girl ;) My friend is not on expatwoman and I won't transfer the comments to her so please, just some feedback. I know all about how the bags are made and all else! I tried to convince her to buy a non branded leather bag but she has her heart set on this. So please keep the replies simple ;) Many thanks. For fakes Greeneye is the best in Karama I doubt it would cost anywhere near 150 quid

Ladies Thanks for your below replies I couldn't write all details not to make the topic huge. I couldn't wakeup unfortunately because I was locking my bedroom door (for some issues with kids) and my phone was on silent since morning. It was't my intention to sleep actually b'coz I wont sleep with the door locked. And he tried to call several times but I didn't hear. As for the invitation I sent him an email just to be a funny surprise for him and he obviously liked it its not that we re talking in a formal way but it was just a new idea for inviting him that's it. For the flowers I sent him flowers to his office before so whats the weird in that ? Thanks ladies Hang on, are you saying that you had arranged to meet him OUT somewhere and not a romantic meal at home? So he was sat somewhere waiting for you whilst you slept?! Oh my word, no wonder he was angry. And you were asleep in a locked bedroom with kids alone some where else in the house? How old are they? What would have happened if there was a fire and your kids couldn't get out or get your help, or rescue you if they are a bit older and didn't need your help to get out? Also, you say it wasn't your intention to sleep, but I presume you laid down on your bed, (unless you sleep upright?) and as you knew you were tired don't you think you should have set your alarm, just in case, since this meal was so important to you? I'm sorry, but I'm really not surprised your husband is mad with you. Dear cheeky monkey , my husband was at home with kids and we were going out together after kids go to bed and for sure I have someone to look after them while We'll be out. I don't say I wasn't wrong or unblamed. However I asked for some suggestions that could help me out of that awful situation. Grovel Grovel Grovel Apologise continually!

If you have a car accident, big or small, you have to remain on the spot where the accident occurred and dial 999 for the police. Then wait until they arrive at the scene so they can make a report. This even if only your car and an inanimate object are involved, or if someone scratches/dents your car in a car-park whilst you're shopping. Depending on the circumstances, you may even be fined. I am ready to be corrected on this, but I think this is because authorised dealer garages will not repair your car unless you have the police report for insurance purposes. If the accident is minor and the cars can be driven then they advise you to go to the nearest police station to where the accident took place. My friend and I were involved in a bump and this is what the police told us? and yes garages will repair without a police report ;-)

The end of my first summer in Dubai is nearing, and I'm not sure what to do with my plants for the 5 weeks that I'll be away. I don't have any friends or neighbors who will be in town, and the maid service I use has a 2-hour minimum per visit, which is much too long for watering a few plants! Is there any service that does quick weekly visits for this purpose? I do not know of any company that will water your plants My friends do mine for me

yes definitely Dyson , more expensive than other brands but you save on filters and bags later Thank you however I refuse to pay 100 GBP more here than in the UK out of principal! Dubizzle the way to go :-) and what happens if it go's wrong.. no warranty and then you have wasted your money. I have 2.. one upstairs and one downstairs. They are undoubtably the best. I have spoken to someone who has one still in warranty and she can provide that ;-)

Hello ladies I am getting crazy quotes for shipping our stuff over. Do we need to bring our wardrobes? I hear majority of villas/apartments have fitted wardrobes. Is this the case? Also what shipping companies did you use- were they any good? Good and bad experiences please. I have quotes from- excess international, Anglo pacific, Pickfords and GB liners. Thanks Every villa I have lived in has had built in wardrobes

The bag shop on the top levels usually have just the cheapo cheerful types. But on the bottom floor (where the McDonald's is) are rows of little glass booths/shops and a few of those have the Dior/Chanel copies etc... not cheap, still a few thousand baht but better than the ones upstairs. I've also seen a few stalls with the books. I've never bought a brand copy though so can't speak for the quality. The copies are rubbish although the booths sell copies of MAC makeup, haviana flip flops Handbags were naff, Dubai is so much better

Ok thats reassuring. We have the prescriptions and their in their original containers. I'm reluctant to start moving them to other bottles. With the prescription you should be fine however the liquid amount of 100ml per bottle tends to be a worldwide thing. I have seen people have liquids taken off them as they were in too large containers 2x100ml containers with a prescription in a clear bag will get through I have just spoken to 2 of my EK and 1 of my Virgin friends about this

Hello fellow bumpettes, Want to fly to uk to visit family and due late September. Having a normal pregnancy so far, my 3rd! Do you think it's safe to fly if I'm back mid Aug? Am nervous as my bump is big and hoping I'll manage the 7hr journey. My friend flew right up to just before she was due I think if you are at a certain time frame you have to get a note from your DR to say you are fit to fly

This is on the EK website under cabin baggage All liquids, gels and aerosols, pastes, lotions, creams, drinks and other items of similar consistency must be in containers with a capacity no greater than 100ml. Those carried in containers larger than 100ml will not be accepted, even if the container is only partially filled. These containers must be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding one litre. Larger bags or bags that are non-sealable, such as fold-over sandwich bags, are not allowed. The containers must fit comfortably within the plastic bag, which is to be completely closed. You will need to present the plastic bag for visual examination at the security screening point. Only one bag per customer will be permitted. Exemptions will be made for medications, baby milk or foods, and special dietary requirements, but you will need to show an appropriate means of verifying the nature of these items.

My dd's epilepsy medication is liquid in a 200ml bottle. We are travelling soon and will be on the plane for over 12 hours which means she'll need to take her medicine on the plane. Do you know if planes (we are travelling Emirates) allow this, or should we move some to another container thats less than 200m. I was reluctant to do so in the event, of spillage, breakage. Also, scared if we lose our bags initially and there's a delay in our luggage arriving...Does anyone know? I have emailed customer service but no response to date. I thought that as long as liquids are in a clear plastic see through bag you can take 100ml ( total) but as many as you want so if you need 200ml divide it between 2 bottles

Thank you for all the response. Dear Mrs. P, as kids ,we were always made to wash our hair in the morning when we take a bath and I think it sort of grew up with me. So now, not washing my hair everyday makes me feel like I am missing something. Also I do have long hair. Being from the sub continent, oiling and shampooing the hair has become a routine.I will try the perfume squirt ;) Dear DB, no offense taken. Its always great to know more information. I will surely read the article. Sarah, thanks for the info. but where do you get Keratace from? Anyone else with more advice? MB I wash mine everyday and there is no written rule that you shouldn't. Use mild shampoos or if you can get away without washing it use the dry shampoo batiste I cannot go more than 1 day and my hair looks awful and is lank
