Argan oil makes it smell nice There are a range of the shampoos and conditioners by Lee Stafford I think in Waitrose however they are horrendously overpriced here! I use Kerastace and people tell me it smells nice

I've been booking taxis in advance using their automated service for well over a year and never had a problem no matter what time I've requested - busy times or middle of the night to the airport. Maybe I've been lucky since I've always had great service :) I only find between 5-6pm on a Thursday can be problematic due to rush hour and change over of drivers. Apart from that no issues

I was unexpectedly offered a job in real estate earlier this week. It was nothing I planned or have any experience in. Any ofthe ladies here have done this before or are in the job and could give me a heads up. I am at the point where I am trying to figure out if that is something I might like. Timewise it should not be a problem as I would only do it part time. Hoiw long does it take to get up to speed? Do I need some kind of registration/liecence? How ois it usually paid? I was offered something but as I have no experience I have no clue if that is good or not... A lot of the companies only pay commission and no basic ( Personally I would not work without some form of salary) You will need to be RERA certified ( Decent companies will put you through this but you will have to pay for it ) You will need to be sponsored by law or provided with a Labor card. Do not work for any organization that does not provide you with this I have friends who have no experience, recently started and are making decent amount of money however they work long hours/do a lot of work at home and work weekends.

Wow!! This is a first and what an improvement! I booked a taxi for 5.20pm today. I have just received a phone call to say that it might be delayed but, if I haven't had a phone call from the driver to call them back and they will see to it straight away!! Well done RTA :D I read that by the end of the year all of the taxis will have a fully functioning GPS in them so no more having to give drivers directions!

Greens is practically across the bridge from Internet City/Media City, so very convenient. The apartment in the Greens are quite small in my opinion and the rents are high, but I think there are some villas nearby as well. There is loads of greenery (In the Greens that would be expected lol) and quite a few shops, coffee shops and restaurants. School nearby as well. You could also look into Tecom, which is when you come from Internet City left across the road from the Greens. Depends on the building. I have a 1 bed and it is 1200SQ ft and my friends 3 bed is enormous however I have a fantastic LL and my rent hasn't risen in 3 years :-) There are Duplexes which look lovely however they are hard to come by and there are waiting lists for them. I have been to several apartments in different buildings and found them quite small for the rent they ask, but then as you say there are bigger ones I haven't seen. So I'm just going by my experience:).. Some of the older ones are tiny. I just got lucky I think :-)

I'm going to be doing an open interview session to find staff for a new shop. I did some this morning and held them at a terrible terrible coffee shop that I had chosen only because I thought it would be well located for most people but it was not only terrible but also not so well located! I figure if I can a Tim Hortons or a Starbucks or whatever that's right by a metro stop, that's probably best for the candidates but can't for the life of me remember what's where!! Anyone?? I'm thinking maybe down the Trade Centre end of Sheikh Zayed. Anyone know what decent cafe is right by a metro stop in that area? Many thanks. There is a quiet Starbucks right outside the financial Centre metro Just do not go between 1pm and 2pm as the lunch time crowd are there

Or if you don't want heated rollers, could you try the GHD curling tong which can also straighten. Works quite effectively when my hairdresser uses. They are expensive but may work out in price? I have one of the wands and a curling iron although I have burnt myself with both of them! I liked to put the heated ones in and continue to get ready if that makes sense Thanks though :-)

It does take a while to hear back from the employers but if it's on urgent basis then they do call back otherwise it can take months. From what I hear, some companies are not in need at the time of advertising but they want to have profiles in their database in case there's a vacancy later on. It's kind of a back up plan. Not all companies but some of them.If you use iPhone or Android phone, get this app called Indeed. You can filter with the kind of job and location and it will search all the job portals and update. It's very convenient. They have a website as well. I have been hunting for a new job for 2 months now and went for about 4 interviews but didn't take up any because it wasn't what I was expecting. Be careful while taking up a job because you will be stuck with that job for 2 years and if you decide to leave before 2 years, you will get a work ban of 6-12 months. Good luck :-) That would depend on salary paid, limited or unlimited contract and whether you are based in FZ or not. I have recently found out that if you have worked for an employer for less than 2 years you need to attest your education certificates so worth getting them done Yeah that's right. In unlimited contract, no ban is imposed if the employee has completed one year work with the current employer. However, in limited contract the imposing of labour ban is at the discretion of the employer. No employment ban in Freezone. I have attested my educational certificates but I would like to know how does that make a difference? Could you please elaborate? edited by kewlzany on 13/06/2013 I have recently placed a British guy in a mid level managerial role. Unlimited contract salary above 14 ( He has a Masters) because he had not completed 2 years at his previous company without his Masters being attested the new company could not apply for his visa and were told he would get a 6 month immigration ban

Hi, hope you don't mind me adding a query to this thread...we are thinking of re-locating to Dubai for a few years...my husband, my daughter & me...from research we have done so far, the Greens is appealing most as a place to live. My husband is targeting a job in internet city. Is anyone else living in the Greens and working in Internet/Media City- if so, could they please let me know how they/their partner commutes there and how long it takes. Was looking at JLT as metro is so convenient but chiller fees have put us off! Thanks for any help. It is only a short drive or taxi ride to Media and Internet City from the Greens The bridge over Sheikh Zayed Road has been open a while which helps I live at the Greens and love it!

Tips and Toes for waxing and threading been going there for 5 years ( and yes I like the brows natural too). Took my daughters to Lilly Pond before seemed fine. Have not been there myself though. I have been to Belle Femme down Sadaf end on the Walk and they were fine for hair cut. I usually still go to Pace Luce Marina Mall. Never had any problems there or cut and colour. I use T&T no problems either and all the girls know me and happily chat to me whilst doing the treatments

I was unaware of that as I have been told by a lawyer that I am entitled to a gratuity payment, as the owner and PRO should have done the labour card for me.. But I do not want to risk getting into trouble now I don't mean to sound harsh but why did you stay there for that length of time without a labor card? By law companies are not supposed to hire you without labor approval I would of hot footed it out at 3 months as you have no grounds to sue etc as you were working illegally

If you were working illegally then you must pay the fine as the company must also for hiring you. I have friends who worked in Real Estate who were working illegally. 2 of them were non Western nationals and were deported!

Sorry saralou123 but do you book the taxi the night before or just earlier in the morning/night. I live in the Greens so close to you I book it the night before but go through the options to speak to an operator not use the automated line. Each time I call and say I need a cab at 5am they automatically say airport :-)

I was on DH visa and had no labour card Then you were breaking the law as having a labor card is law You could get into serious trouble as working illegally, so personally speaking I would not pursue this through the courts.

Dear Ladies Wondering if someone has been through the same process. I was working for a friends company for 2.5 years and was never given a contract. After 2.5 years I was replaced with a "cheaper model" and have been told that I won't be getting any sort of gratuity as I had no contract. Been to the MOL 3 times only to be told on the last trip that if I file a complaint, my husband and myself could get into trouble as DH allowed me to work for the company illegally even though he gave permission or we could win the claim, 50/50 chance.. I suppose depends on who takes on the complaint.. So do I pursue it and hope it comes out positive or do I leave and loose out on whats owed to be "by law"?? Did you have a labor card or visa from the company?

TDB, when you buy clothes online, how do you know if it's the right size/model for you without fitting it? I often try things on here and then order from the UK. Cheeky I know but they are being cheeky charging over the top prices. I do exactly the same :-) Me too! :-) I Google as I shop...sad I know... Considering a bought a dress in Debenhams which was 170AED in the UK and AED460 here I now limit my spending in Dubai

If you are a perfectionist looking for a great hair salon with hairdressers who really know what they're doing then I think you can't go wrong with Salon Inc ! I went there yesterday for the first time had an appointment with Kelly.firstly parking very easy ,valet car park and free just need stamp from the salon. In all my 20 yrs living here in Dubai no stylist has ever taken the time that she did ,to discuss with me my hair colour, how I wanted it ,her ideas,my thoughts, my photos etc. eventually she came up with a plan of action , I shut my mouth (not easy as have had many hair disasters) and prayed all would be ok . Result lovely new blonde hair , not orange not gold ,not brassy or streaky , perfect hi lights ! Love it just what I wanted. My hair was looking very dry and she talked me into trying a toner which has greatly helped the condition . My hair wash also very pleasant nice head massage . They give you a menu of drinks to choose from as well so your quite spoilt ! Altogether a wonderful experience and Kelly's parting words were , "live with this hair for a few days and if there is anything at all you don't like or want to change just come back ! It's not a problem". It's nice to know if I did want to go back I can with no hard feelings ! Well I certainly will be going back , my search is over I've finally found the best hair salon for me. Oh lastly I paid 740 for full head foils ,no cut or blow dry, about right for Dubai and worth every dhs as far as I'm concerned , at least I won't be spending more money trying to put a bad hair colour right ! Have often been tempted to try them as they get mentioned on here a lot but that's a lot more than I pay now so thanks for the warning !! I only pay AED300 and my hairdresser has never messed mine up I cannot justify 132GBP for that! :-(

I used to go to SI but the costs were getting crazy for me ( I am trying to cut back) I now use Donna at Roots and she comes to my house. I pay 200 for roots, 300 for highlights and 100 for cut and blow dry. She is British fabulous with blond hair as many here are not and she has many years experience 055-4091400
