hi ladies... got a Gucci leather bag that is perfectly fine on the outside but the inside is a mess!! full of pen stains, lipstick stains, milk stains... it's amazinggg how maltreated my bag has been by two clumsy children and an even clumsier mom! :) wondering if anyone has tried this company for 'interior' cleaning coz i know that they are more 'exterior' cleaning experts... or perhaps you know of another company that does this? let me know... and thanks in advance! I believe there is a shop that does this in one of the old malls on Beach Road The blue one springs to mind as I remember seeing an old post about the above I do not know the name of it though sorry

I imagine it is a very grey area, I know the one villa one family rule however if you get caught then you have to face the consequences I suppose. There are many people living in sin, sharing homes etc etc and have never got caught?

I have also noticed that a few of the UK companies now deliver here for nominal postage. I have just put in an order for around AED 700 from Landsend (UK) and they are delivering it here for GBP 15 and they have taken the VAT off. Monsoon also deliver here. M&S will if you have someone in the UK that will go and verify the delivery. Gymboree in the US also deliver here for a minimum spend, the delivery starts at USD 15. I bought loads for DD and a friends DD and as the sale was on there we got loads for USD 100. Tshirts were around USD 4 each. River island also do and their clothes in the UK are 30% cheaper than Dubai and do not get me started on their sale stuff! I bought a dress at Christmas for 110AED in the UK and it was 560 here! I believe New Look also deliver here I am working on Warehouse, Miss Selfridge and Oasis haha

I only caught the tail end, sorry, but I was listening to them saying that you cannot base gratuity on the basic salary alone. I am sure you will find a re-run to listen to on their website. That would be good if that was the case, as so many companies offer low basic, but add perks on transport and allowance to avoid having pay out a big gratuity. Someone told me that aside from the DIFC commission may be included in gratuity I shall try and find out Thank you to all

DSS started last Friday (apparently). However trawling round Dubai Mall revealed not one store was on sale and the selection was appalling. I was there to shop hard and managed 2 dresses only. Honestly, I would shop online on the Selfridges website or US sites and have it shop and shipped here. I just bought 8 items from the Ralph Lauren sale (US site) for 700aed only (mix of baby and adult stuff) and had it Aramexed here - 200dhs shipping so total 900aed. Great value. I have an account set up. Do they automatically generate an address for you ( Either in the US or UK) this confuses me Thanks When you sign up they send you a bunch of addresses - UK, US, UAE, China and Turkey. So whenever you're shopping in any of those countries, you have it sent to that address. The common denominator is your personal PO BOX (DXB *****) which you have to put on every order. This then identifies it as being for you and is sent to Aramex here which alerts you that your parcel has arrived. You can then pay the shipping charges online or pay cash on delivery. You are SMS'd the whole way through as to its status and they even have an Iphone app which alerts you too. Try it - no going back and you will become a shopaholic. I am well known in my company for my almost daily packages and parcels arriving! Thank you :-)

A skirt here costs close to dhs300. Argh! Sorry just fedup of being ripped off. Can you use a UAE C/C for Ebay and will they deliver here? Thank you

Currently under DH sponsorship and will remain so for the present time. Question please - I have an NOC from DH and the company will apply for my labour card. If I choose to leave the company within two years - is it the company or local labour authorities that could place a working ban for however long it is? TIA As per my knowledge, it's the company that can place a working ban from anywhere between 6-12 months. Some company do not place a ban. It depends on the company. I could be wrong. You can call 800-665 to enquire about any labour related issues. edited by kewlzany on 12/06/2013 usually under DH sponsorship no ban The only time bans come into effect are when you leave within 2 years and do not have the correct salary versus education or you are on a limited contract FZ have no bans and NOC no longer apply. It is all based on time of service plus salary/education High School diploma AED5000 Bachelors AED12000 Masters AED14000 Sponsorship by a relative does not apply Yes, You're right. I meant 6-12 months ban if you leave within 2 years or on limited contract. Thanks for the information. But in my opinion, I don't think they adhere to the salary depending on the education rule, do they? My clients do when processing visas

A sale in Dubai is when the shops marks down the items to their actual normal price. The price they would be in other countries as per normal retail. In other countries a sale is when something is significantly marked down than the normal price. Everybody here is apparently rich and we all want to overpay for everything. Haha

Wowza ;-)

My daughter's doctor also recommended this but said it was not available in the UAE and that I could buy it online or in the UK. I have not been able to find it online, however, and I wonder if it's been discontinued? Sorry, this doesn't help much! I can only find Bepanthen here, but not sure what's the difference. I know for sure that you can find it in Germany. Not discontinued. Hope someone else can tip in. Bepanthen is used for nappy rash and tattooists recommend it to stop the tattoo drying out

5% commission and 5% deposit is standard Greedy agent. Negotiate your way out of it. IMO most don't earn the 5% anyway! Always paid the above and in a apartment 3%

Sounds like you've got one of the unspoken pregnancy symptoms: extra congestion. [url=http://www.pregnancy-info.net/rhinitis.html'>link[/url'> Best you discuss with your doc just to be safe. edited by Meagle on 11/06/2013 Oh Meagle, I've come to realise there are so many unspoken pregnancy symptoms that no one tells you about lol.. thank you I have an appointment in a week and a half, if it doesnt go by then i will mention it.. will stick to rubbing vicks and hot drinks then xx You can use saline nasal drops I find they are great for blocked noses and help lubricate the passages.

I asked immigration if non residents can have an E-gate, the answer was a straight forward no. My friend got one two weeks ago, he isn't a resident and never has been. He was told over the phone no, I suggested to just go to DNATA anyway. He did and they gave him one without any bother at all. They asked for my residence visa perhaps he caught them on a generous day

Sorry, so if they have an ID card then they can get an e-gate? For nationals is what i understood, need to be clarified on that point. Also skywards card holders silver and gold i think can use their cards once they have been activated. Best to go to DNATA or an egate centre and find out. No Egate is usually 18 years old and above as my friend has 2 kids 10 and 14 and cannot get them e-gates even though they both have ID cards Call 800-5000 for clarification Not id cards for expats, National ID for nationals........but great you posted number much easier! They are not that great over the phone but there are lots of options to press which ever number your query is for :-)

I'm sorry for yet another LL question but I dont know what to do. Our lease expired end of May. Landlord wants to increase our rent 40% (RERA calculator says 10%). He also says he is selling our apartment (& i have heard from the new LL who says we can stay at same rent, he doesnt care!). Anyway, problem is maids visa needs renewing next week and I cant do that without a lease. The landlord wants to clear his debts and leave the country and keeps mentioning he has sold the property (althought I know for a fact no money has changed hands, nor a new title deed prepared). My husband is sure he registered our lease with Ejari (when we initially sponsored our maid last year) although we cant find the confirmation. I know we are within right to stay for 10% increase but I really need a new lease to do the visa... gaaah! Anyone had experience? I have been trying to call DMRC but can't get through.. I would visit the rent committee in person

If it makes you feel better I would have felt the same. Regardless of her day she should have been more professional and less aggressive, especially to an emotional pregnant woman. As a Dr she probably does encounter lots of emergencies and patients that need immediate attention but her staff should have communicated with you better and she should have been more understanding as your time is also valuable. She is a professional and she should have conducted herself in a professional manner. You could sleep on it and give her another chance, it could have been a one off but if you feel you can no longer be comfortable with her caring for you then definitely source another Dr. Hormones are funny things, you might feel less agitated by the whole situation tomorrow x you are absolutely right, but the thing is, each time i remember the situation, the only thing i feel is her arrogance which really puts me off even going to see her. When I had my first pap smear in Dubai I had the rudest Gynae ever I did not care if she had had a bad day she should of known better not to speak to a patient that way and she was that rude that the nurse came after me to apologise for her behaviour. I worked in the medical profession for many years and my patience was tested on a daily basis by rude and even threatening patients and we were taught never to act in a rude manner. No excuse I am afraid
