I think you need to drive around in a circle a bit, but can get there without using SZR or going as far as The Springs. Head out the back of the Greens by Regent School. Turn right towards Dubai International Academy and turn right again at the 2nd light (turning around the Lakes not heading towards The Springs and over the bridge). Follow that road until just before you hit SZR (between Lakes and Emirates Hills) and there's a right turn that you can make onto an access road parallel to SZR headed north. Hope that made sense. Googlemaps if you're confused. Thanks, now I have seen it written down it makes perfect sense!

Can anyone give me advice on how I would legally go about setting up an after school childcare practice? It's very easy to do in Ireland, but of course I'm expecting complications here. Ideally I'd like to offer a service where I supervise homework, feed the kids dinner and provide a nice homely environment for kids when they get home from school, until their mums and dads get home from work. I would like to charge a fee for this but I don't know where to start with this. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks. I think this is a really difficult thing to do in the UAE due to business licences and insurance Perhaps OP can advise more for you

The Ivy is a good shout. Definitely not a rowdy brunch, great selection of mocktails and all food all al-a-carte. Also went to the Gaucho brunch and they do a great selection of soft drinks/mocktails, starter and desserts are brought to the table and you get to pick your own main course which is ordered and brought to the table. So good, you don't be disappointed. I knew you would know hehe

Were some of these posts meant to be helpful? The reasons why the poster wanted a baby may defi normal logic for the unabused but with a step back and appreciation of the history it does not take much to fully understand why she felt this may be an answer and a need. This woman needs to find love in her life somewhere and a baby in her mind answers that. That's without the pressure of being married and the cultural expectations of where she is from factored in and the importance of producing offspring. All this woman strives is some normality to her life and simple happiness. Posters do not need to understand the reasons they need to offer constructive and supportive advice to this poster who has bravely posted about one millionth of her life and the abuse she has suffered. She has been told how to behave, think and how to act all her life, now she needs help and support in making her own choices a totally new concept. To the OP, can i suggest the following which may be of help. That you find a therapist who is western trained but of your own nationality. That you touch base with the womens welfare groups here and see if they offer a support or advice service. That you contact the Pakistani womens association and see if they have links to support networks. That you look into setting up a bank account in your name that no one has access to or knows about. That you try to regain your passport back from your dh. And finally that you gain some legal advice. My thoughts are that you are at a turning point in your life and now need advice as to what is actually possible and inspiration from women who have been in your shoes from your own culture. You are worthy of more and with the right advice and help i am sure you will find the strength to find a direction that brings you the happiness you dream of. There are no easy answers as you know, but somewhere there will be answers to your situation, i hope you can find the strength to find those answers and the courage to fullfill them. good luck. LIKE!

I live in JLT, are there any GNC's nearby other than Dubai Mall? I'm desperately in need of some melatonin and hoping they deliver. I've searched on google and there's one1 in Burjuman, one on SZR (how far from JLT I don't know) and another one, cant remember where but it's far from JLT as well. Are there seriously only 3 in Dubai? There are a few Mirdif CC nowhere near JLT SZR Burjuman nowhere near JLT Deira nowhere near JLT SZR would be your best bet

They should cost 20 AED or less. I have had 2 20AED ones and they both broke within a month, my 60AED one has lasted over 3 years

I have always used Greeneye, a few posters do not like the place as they are slightly more expensive than others places but I find the quality the best and have had bags from there for years

I am a food lover and I always want to have a heavy breakfast and lunch everyday. But I was planning to diet starting today due to my big tummy. I saw healthy fruits in dubai garden centre and planning to go over the weekend. Is anyone know if they have also healthy smoothies in there? Here is there website http://www.dubaigardencentre.ae/ I was in there today and did not see any smoothies Why not make your own with a blender You can still have a decent sized breakfast and lunch just don't overload with carbs

Do you mind me asking how much this costs? and where you get it done I go to In Shape in Jumeirah and it costs 380dh for 90 mins. I did notice there is a voucher in the Body Book for a 90 min Guinot Hydradermie facial at Jumeirah Creekside. I might give that a go. The other thing I didn't mention when I was raving about the facials the other day, was that after I had my first Guinot one, the 2 or 3 milia I had on my cheek, for over a year, just fell out. I was thrilled. I really think the most important thing is finding something that works for you. I had tried Guinot previously in the UK before I got married (almost 8 years ago) and I never thought they were anything special, so maybe it just suits my skin better now. FFx I use all the Jan Marini glycolic products at home. They are not cheap but great for your skin Regular facials do not do anything for my skin at all

... then you want to use someone who will find you decent, relevant candidates ... With apologies for butting in (and cutting down your quote), this statement is interesting to me because it does seem that there are a lot of recruiters in the UAE who haven't the smallest idea of the roles for which they're recruiting. This was made abundantly clear to DH when he was 'in the market' last year. He did register with a few agencies, but basically, looked to contacts/LinkedIn for real opportunities. This is because every.single.time a recruiter contacted him for a potential role (and it was loads of times), DH would almost have to explain to THEM what the job entailed because they didn't know! They also balked at his salary saying there was 'no chance' the company would pay what he was asking. Fine, but how about asking the company? Why just cut him off without having a talk about it? In one instance, DH knew the company looking for a person to fill a role and KNEW they would pay XXX in salary, but the recruiter refused to countenance discussing it with the company. And then two months later, the COMPANY phoned DH almost begging him to come on board, offering him the moon to do so, and DH was already employed by someone else. Apparently the recruitment firms this company had set to the task hadn't found anyone suitable so the company had to do the recruiting themselves ... ;) That is why candidates should do their due dilligence regarding agents here. I for one would be embarrassed if i called a candidate about a role that i knew nothing about If i could not understand it then how could i present this to a potential candidate Of course there are some bad apples ( UAE is full of these people in every industry) however we are not all the same. :-)

No offence but I have worked in recruitment and here's how it works. The agency are paid by the company NOT candidates so they are not obliged to help you or find you a job. Their job is to fill the vacancies that the company sends them. This country has literally hundreds of applicants per vacancy - many are time wasters themselves, sending their CVs in when they have absolutely none of the necessary skills. To respond to each and every one for every application would take up their entire working day. You should assume you have not been successful unless you have been selected and shortlisted for interview when the recruiter will ring you to prepare you and go through the role. Remember, the recruiter is never working in your interests. He or she earns commission by filling job roles so will always be selling the position to you! Keep your wits about you and make your own decisions. I see right through it as I am in sales and have worked in recruitment. Also do not waste their time with dillydallying about salary - be upfront, research the market, tell them your current salary and what you expect. Why continue the process if your expectations are way out of budget? Finally, it is very very competitive here and without relevant regional experience you will be up against stiff competition. The best way of finding a job here is networking, LinkedIn, looking on relevant job boards and sending in a tailored CV with personalised cover letter then following up with a call. I have found my last 2 jobs through knowing people and know the heads of business at all my competitors so if I ever looked to move I could contact them directly. Once you have a name in the market you will also get headhunted frequently. Sorry I don't mean to be a cow but I see these types of threads a lot and people seem to get frustrated at the lack of personalised service but this is just to put it into perspective and explain how it works, as well as giving advice to give yourself the best possible chance. Good luck OP, what industry are you in, I know a few friends hiring right now. Unfortunately what some agencies fail to realise is that the upper echelon of candidates, like myself, will be positioned in a company one day and recruitment may be part of their role! Two agencies used whilst in HR in London that i deemed good enough - of course each agent is based upon commission from filling a role - oh dear! luckily now within my own company, I hire direct - never would look at another recruitment company. edited by bblue on 20/05/2013 So you are saying they should focus ALL their efforts on finding you a role so that in the future you MAY use them for recruitment? All my clients use me as a prefered recruiter due to the amount of work i have done for them over the years not because i MAY place someone who MAY have recruitment as part of their role.

Hi, I would really appreciate any reviews/feedback from some of you ladies who delivered either at Medcare Hosp. or Al Garhoud Private Hosp. recently. What about your impression with midwifes / nurses / anaesthetist Dr /work load of the maternity ward / ... ?? Anyone else who had to choose between the 2: what made you go for one and not the other? I'm now 35 weeks pregnant so really need to make up my mind but I'm soooo confused... We went to have a look at the 2 places a few weeks ago, but it was a very quiet afternoon in both hospitals, nothing happening, with nurses sleeping on their chairs in one of the hospitals, and eating in a room in the other hospital... weird atmospheres... I had my first child 3 years ago at City Hospital and it was a great experience overall, but my excellent Dr no longer works there so I have to choose between those 2 options. Thanks in advance for your help! My friend is delivering at Medcare ( Lots of her friends also did) She has a South African Midwife and a Portugese Male OBG-YN she told me both of them are fantastic

my first car was a Beetle. It was a 2002 model, I purchased it in 2008 and it lasted till 2010. It was a pleasure to drive and attracted a lot of attention due to its color. But But But, the door handle broke. the roof fell down, the ac stopped working and just when I spent 15000 dhs repairing everything, the gear box decided to give in. I had to sell it super cheap and bought a Golf. Very happy with the performance and no AC issues yet (3 years) The pros are - you drive a beetle only once in your life, its cheaper to maintain in Dubai - petrol costs etc etc. If you buy a new one or almost new one and sell it off once the warranty is over, you should be fine. It is a beautiful car and very very safe. The cons - if you keep it on after the warranty expires be prepared to spend a lot in terms of maintenance. Hope this helps. I have a golf 5 years in and no A/C problems either ( touch wood)

Thanks SL. I lived and worked in the UK for over 5 years after graduating before moving here so did build up a credit history. Unfortunately being a silly student in London I made a few financial errors and forgot to cancel a mobile phone payment when i moved to Dubai which kept getting deducted and eating into my overdraft which then defaulted and it all went wrong. Since sorted out and all paid off but I think I have a bit of a black mark, altho the broker said my rating isn't as bad as I think it is and in no way should prevent me getting a decent mortgage. In fairness, I'd rather borrow less and start small but I'm just a bit surprised. It is certainly do-able and I will be able to buy somewhere but how on earth do people manage in London or somewhere where they need equivalent of 400,000aed to even get started on the property ladder! Rich parents lol

50 CVs a day? Some of these jobs get thousands! It is not fair to expect a detailed response to each application. They are recruiters not careers advisers, people seem to fail to understand the difference. I would spend ages on the phone having to explain why someone was not suitable and what steps they should take to improve their chances, and how to get the dream job they want. It is not their job to do this! Furthermore it would never take off as you would never make money. Recruiters make money filling jobs. They work in the interests of the companies they represent. They are not there to provide a free service to job seekers. If you have not had a call back I would assume you are not suitable and move on. IN response to Geordie - receptionist work won't pay well. Try contacting the likes of Dnata or other travel companies to see if they have any openings. Failing that the airlines, tourism boards etc. It is a shame as the ATM was a few weeks ago where you could have met all these companies under one roof. Thank you so much for your post :-) I have been with the same company for 7 years and would like to think that i have an excellent reputation and treat candidates with the utmost professionalism. I hate how we are all tarred with the same brush. It is physically impossible for me to contact every single candidate however i always reply to calls and emails personally

Hi there, We have a couple sets of visitors arriving soon and they have expressed interest in the beach clubs as mentioned in my thread title. Since they won't be staying at hotels, can they pay for a day pass? If so how much are we talking? If these hotels do day passes as I've heard some may, are they only for residents or can tourists also pay for the day pass? And what does the day pass give access to, pool and beach only? Thanks! Riva on the Palm is 100AED Golden Tulip in Ghantoot is AED100 Both are for weekends

You might find it is your credit rating that is the problem. Daft as it sounds. My Dad looked into getting a joint mortgage with me for a buy to let but as neither of us have a credit rating, we couldn't. He hasn't borrowed for 30+ years, pays off his credit cards which he has had for 20+ years, has substantial savings but no credit rating. Person at the bank suggested he gets a new card and spends a bit on it and pays it off and it will improve. He didn't and we decided not to go ahead with the house purchase. That is a huge factor i worked for a British leading bank years ago and that was one of the biggest reasons for declining people as the underwriters did not have any lending history to work from 25% deposit is the norm for non UK residents to purchase a property and the lending used to be 2.8 x salary for 2 people and 3 times salary for 1 person The restrictions are alot tighter now as banks were lending far too much to people who could not afford it and as a result defaulted on mortgages A guy i work with bought a house recently let me find out who he used ( He is from down Sarfff and used broker there)

Am considering coming out to visit my son for 2 months. I know you get 30 days visa on your passport at Dubai International and people have told me to extend while I am in Dubai (during the 30 days). Trouble is, do I book my flight for 2 months or will the Dubai Immigration have a problem with it? I understand airlines can charge £100 or more to change your flight date. EW advice would be appreciated. Can you not to a visa run to Oman ( Providing you are from the countries that allow this) You can do it up to 40 days. You can book your flight for 2 months and i do not think there will be an issue To change a flight date with EK i paid 50USD however it does depend on availability

Does anyone know if you buy something and then it goes on sale after only one week is it possible to take it back and pay only it's price on sale? (That is if it's still not worn and has a tag) you would have to return it then rebuy it Not many companies give a cash refund anymore I do not think there is a guarantee period he between sales and purchasing an item before said sale. I did this at home and it was fine. I got a refund they rebought the dress saving a small fortune

She will need to order a taxi and specifically request a car seat, the Pink lady taxi's are usually the ones who show up when you specifically request a car seat. Other option is to use a chauffeur company. She will need to be VERY specific about the size of car seat she requires, can't tell you how many times they have shown up with the wrong size for us. As soon as my DD got old enough, I bring the inflatable car seat. I belive Careem offer this service. I can take her but it is getting back from the airport Thank you for you your post
