Thanka s SarahLou, did u mean M&S? but M&S don't ship to UAE. VS is Victoria Secret as GE said I shop online at all the UK and US stories and use Aramex SnS ( Shop and ship) account to ship them here You can take advantage of the online sales and get more of a variety that way Victoria Secret in Dubai has a sale on at present

Firstly, put the wife on the husbands visa so she can get treatment here Secondly, who's name is the debt actually in? Is it credit cards in joint names? Personal loan? Overdraft? Can the husband take a loan from the company to pay off the debt and then the company deduct each month? The OP said that the Husband has lost his job so I doubt she can go on his visa Is the whole family on a travel ban She also said he has a job now. Glasses on now ( sorry)

I honestly don't think flashing brake lights will stop anyone using their phone or tailgating here. Even when drivers press their hazards due to a hazard ahead it doesn't stop people tailgating.

Hi Just started the UK visa application process for the family and realized its GBP 324 to get a domestic worker visa(thats the category they fall under) for my nanny. Thats an unusually high amount to pay for a 6 month visa. Anyone on the forum has a recent experience of taking their help to UK? I have a young boy and would like to have some free time just exploring London with DH once baby is asleep :) Thanks M If that is what is says on the gov.uk website then it will be correct Their fees for other services are always correct so it will be that price.

Mmmmm, mushy peas (and curry sauce!) Haven't been home for ages and won't be for a few years :( Rock n Sole Plaice at DIP isn't a bad chippy but they don't do proper fishcakes either ie not them rissole malarkeys. I hate mushy peas YUK Rock and Sole used to be good on Al Wasl but I don't think they can ever get the chips right here and their curry sauce was awful I make my own curry sauce with Jamie Olivers recipe and it tastes just like the chippy one at home

A friend became seriously ill when pregnant and had to stop working. At the same her husband lost his job. To cut a long story short, they racked up debts and the bank has put a travel ban on her. My friend is dying. She's very ill and needs an operation. Her visa expired so she can't get treatment here. The husband wants to send his wife and daughters back home to have the operation. With his family away, his costs will be reduced and he can gradually pay back everything they owe. He has a job now. As things stand it will take him years to save 36,000 to get her travel ban lifted. And the figure increases every day because of the overstay fines. And the threats from the bank are getting harder and more frequent. They've approached their consulate to ask for help but they just got a lecture on how it was their fault for racking up debts. Are there any charities or funds or any organisation who can help her get home for an operation? NOTE: I'm conscious this is a dodgy-looking first post from a new user. But I'm not asking anyone here to reach into their pockets. This family is kind-hearted and have fallen on hard times that they keep telling themselves is a test to get through. The husband has every intention of repaying his debts. I'm trying to help them by seeing if there's an organisation who will help her. I don't think there is but I have to ask. I don't know of any organisations that can help. Hopefully someone will come along and be able to give you some advice I do read of people writing to the newspapers and manage to get help from readers who want to donate There are stories every week in The Express about people who have fallen on hard times or cannot pay for hospital treatment etc Maybe they can help

Sorry to hijack but I've just been on their website and seen that they're now doing risotto. Risotto?!!! Mind you, when they sell scraps as a starter and charge 5dhs for em who knows what's next. Deep fried Foie Gras? They can be hit and miss. I have had some great fish and chips from them and then some awful chewy fatty fish if that makes sense I am off home next week and first stop is the chippy!!!

Hi everyone. I have been living in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for the past 5 years now and I love it. My sister is currently studying a midwifery degree at university. When she is qualified she would like to move out here from UK to be a midwife with her son. (She is a single mother) My question is does anyone know what type of package she can expect as a newly qualified midwife in UAE she does not mind if it is in Abu Dhabi or Dubai. Thank you. Lizzie. Anything from a total package of AED12000 for newly qualified to AED25000 with 5-10 years experience The more experience in the UK she has the more money she can ask for

Willpower, cheapest suppressant out there. Myfitnesspal saves me from former weight fluctuations. As Sarah I was shocked how much I consumed. I would have done by daily intake by lunchtime. Or I wasn't eating enough which was putting body into starvation mode

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help.....I need to get the progesterone only pill and my local pharmacy (Life) doesn't stock it. I have been using Microgynon in the UK and am coming to the end of my last packet. I don't care which brand I have, but would much rather just keep taking progesterone on it's own rather than combined with oestragen. Any ideas? Thanks in advance x My understanding is that only a DR can prescribe this and it cannot be bought over the counter

Please suggest some tried , tested or heard appetite suppressants that are easily available in the pharmacies or health stores here in Dubai. From someone that has tried every fad in the herbal suppressants world I can honestly say none of them work Some may make you pee a lot but then it is just water weight you lose and if you carry on eating as normal the weight stays the same I put on 2 stone over 9 years and the only thing that worked was eating less and moving more. Since January I have lost 8kg and now average just under a kilo a week. I use my fitness pal through the Ipad app and was horrified at the amount of calories I was consuming. I stick to 1200 for 6 days and then have a cheat day on the other. I combine this with cardio and weights. I want it to come off gradually so I can maintain it. It is hard at first but the benefits plus the weight loss spurs you on I wouldn't waste your money on OTC products that don't work Good Luck with whatever you try :-)

Hi Ladies, I am unfortunately moving back home. Currently I have all my savings for the last 7 years in my bank in Dubai – ENBD account. Its over AED 500,000. I want to transfer money back to my home in the UK but it will not be the same bank. • Please can anyone advise how I can do this. I don’t know if I will have any issues with the tax authority if I transfer such a large amount to the UK? • Also, I am unaware of the transfer charges/exchange charges. I called ENBD and getting different information from the relationship manager. • Has anyone transferred a large amount to their overseas account without having to face extra/hidden charges? • I can carry some as cash but again there is a limitation on how much cash I can carry. • Also, what are the best banks (international) names as in case I move again in the future from the UK (looking at Asia as my next option), I can at least transfer to the same bank in a different country if that helps • Also, I don’t mind doing a small transfer each month online IF ENBD won’t close my account if I am no longer a resident. Please Help!! – I leave in 2 months  Thank You. Do you have a bank account in the UK at present? I would speak to HSBC in the UK ( you can do this online) as they will be able to give you all the correct information

Dear all, Hope you had a good weekend. I have an uncomfortable situation created by a bat choice of work. I switched job las year in october. On the interview was promised that will be a higher salary which already half of year is not true, also they are charging me 5500 aed for a Labor Ban even if i worked before in a free zone. So, now i decide to look for a new job, but when i was making agreement with this company i sign a contract where is mentioned that: if i decide to resign before 1 year of working i have to pay them for visa cost 14000 aed. Please help me with an advance, what should i do and how i can get over this horrible situation . Thank you Charging visa costs is illegal go and speak to the relevant authorities and get the correct advise Why did you get a labor ban? Did you have a limited contract? if so then they can charge you if you leave jobs

A friend is moving here with a dog and is going to work in the Al Safa area. They are looking for a 3 bedroom or large 2 bed, not a massive budget, so not Palm Jumeirah. The Marina I told her is a no, as you can't walk your dog there. JLT and Greens I know is pet friendly. What about Al Barsha and Tecom are you generally aloud dogs there? Szr buildings in general are they pet friendly? Downtown is too expensive as well. That's all areas I can think about that has an easy commute. There budget is 150 k and I don't think they will be able to get a villa not too far from Al Safa. I think it depends on the building itself. I have seen dogs in Tecom and many owners bring their dogs from Tecom to walk them at the Greens pet park. I cannot tell you which buildings though. They would have to ask security if it is allowed

My husband also works at EY. Most of us live in Al Reef, Al Raha Beach and the KCA area. Staff housing is almost impossible to get and EY didn't renew one of their major housing locations so most people are having to find their own accomodation. Yes, rent is paid in advance. EY will give you a housing allowance and pay the rent from that. If you rent under your allowance, they will give those funds to you in your monthly pay. If you go above the allowance (which a lot of people do), you have to have those additional funds at the time EY pays the rent to give to the letting agent. Ask for details of his offer for once you are married. They are quite good at breaking it all down. Thank you for the information you have provided. This is a small weight off my mind, we have been unable to locate anywhere online about a living allowance. Can you tell me anymore information regarding this? Does it make a big difference in making the rent more affordable as I am shocked with the rental prices for an apartment compared to our mortgage in the UK! Also the places you have recommended, are they close to the staff accommodation to get the free transport? Thank you once again ladies! xx Rents in the UAE are horrific compared to rents and mortgages in the UK. Unfortunately it is supply and demand here and Abu Dhabi does not have a rent cap so the nicer the area the higher the price. I pay almost 1200GBP for a one bed apartment whereas could get a 3 bed in the UK on a mortgage for that price

Can anyone help me with the following. My DH finishes work with his current company on 30 June and we will be leaving Dubai permanently. We are going on holidays on 24 June for 2 weeks for Europe (already planned before working arrangements changed). His work won't pay out his gratuity until his visa is cancelled. We want it paid into our UAE bank account. Question 1 - if our visas are cancelled in say mid June and we leave the country on 24 June, can we come back through on tourist visas in mid July (we want to come and pick our stuff up). Will we have any problems? Question 2 - If our visas are cancelled in mid June can the money be paid into our UAE bank account. Will it be able to kept open until we come back through in mid July and empty it and close it? or yet again more dramas? Question one yes you can providing you have one of the passports that guarantees you a visit visa on arrival Question Two does your DH company inform the bank that it is a final payment being credited to the bank account as some will freeze the account once this payment hits then check if there are any outstanding loans etc. Providing their isn't you will be fine. I would call the bank and confirm though

Hi ladies, me again! Can anyone give me the names of good buildings in motor city and sports city to go and look at. I don't really want to rely on estate agents telling me what is good as they're only concerned with the sale / commission they'll be getting. And also, which ones to stay away from. Also, what is studio city like? Sorry for the millions of questions. My friend lives in European on the canal side Her 1 bed is enormous over 1000sq ft . Lots of natural light and very airy. She has so many wardrobes ( I am jealous) Building is quiet, friendly security, nice pool and gym

Hi just my two pennies worth but I found the Kindle Fire was difficult to see when reading out in the sun - the screens on the paperwhite doesn't glare back. I love books and took quite a while to agree to using a kindle - now I love it. My daughter, husband and I all share one account so we can all read the books which is great too. Sometimes Tesco in the UK have a special offer on the Kindles so worth checking there as well. Thanks for the info about the sun glare on the fire. I switched as was sick of the glue melting pages off my books and when it was windy chasing pages down the beach much to the amusement of other beachgoers

Do you need a US credit card or address for this? I have looked at iBooks on the iPad but find the books a bit pricey. What sort of price range does Kindle charge? TIA for your help and advice! I have one of the old range ones but am after the Kindle Fire as my friend has one and they are great I use my UAE credit card to download books from the Amazon sites. The prices vary but are much cheaper than buying books here

Hi, I have found a maid/driver who I'd like to employ as a live-in. She has a school age daughter who would also live with her/us. She is currently under her husband's sponsorship and wants to remain under it, I think because otherwise it will be difficult for her daughter to be sponsored here otherwise. Question is, is this legal and if so, what is the process I need to go through re work contracts etc? I don't want to be doing something illegal. Thanks in advance No she is not allowed to work as a maid under her Husbands visa. It is illegal and you could incur a huge fine employing her and if she steals from you etc then you have no come back as you would be employing her illegally The only way she is allowed is through an agency or if you sponsor her directly. Not worth the risk

Try and speak to the LL directly Does the Nephew have POA for the property in his Uncles absence? Pursue that route first however if you do not get anywhere then the only thing left is to open a case against the LL but you would have to pay to do this and this would have to be done at the Rent Committee. Good Luck!

Ladies! Do you know of any professional hen party organisers based in the UAE? Are these sort of parties even allowed here? I don't mean wild parties with loads of alcohol and strippers - that can lead to trouble anywhere! But more innocent activities..... make up classes, cocktail making/cooking classes, limo rides, spa days etc. I am looking for a company that can do it all, including organising flights from Europe and sorting out the accommodation in Dubai for a group of ladies....Thanks! My friend had her hen party here but we organized it for her as it was easier and a lot cheaper than using a company

Hi WickedAngel_78 So you mean if we give him the months notice at the beginning of June to leave at the end of June (renewal since beg of Feb- so just 5 months) then we should be able to get the remaining 5 months back (-2 months)? We have already paid the landlord/ owner with one cheque- so how do we do this? Yes that is correct. You only should pay 2 months as a penalty and the LL should refund you the remaining 5 months
