I recently deleted my Linkedin. Too many creepy people looking up my profile. I even saw people from whom I rented vacation rentals from looking up my profile! Give your CV in at an employment agency. They can do the searching for you. Agencies will only contact you if they have suitable roles. Most work for clients and don't find candidates jobs. Register your CV with all the main agencies. They will rarely meet with you unless they have a role to discuss. Most recruiters use LinkedIn and Gulf Talent Do you have a professional qualification such as a CA as most international and multinational companies prefer you do have this

for the kids renewal of passports do I need to get the photos signed at the back, or can I just send the form with photos and old passports Under 11 I have to be countersigned On the www.gov.uk site it says the counter signatory must have known the person for at least 2 years. I was never interested in any of the social media platforms but nowadays a lot of people started talking about applying jobs on linked-in... ? (not that I am looking for a job now) I am used to not being a FB user and I am OK with it! I think the day has arrived-I have to admit I need to do something about this phobia kind of thing:shy: I don't even know where to begin... Any advise? I use LinkedIn daily. It is easy to set up a profile. I only use it for work related activity as it isnt really a social activity platform. If you are seeking a new role it is a very useful tool

Lilly111: I am talking about her only, she started charging 50% deposit. Earlier I used to call and make appointment without any hassle. Anyway, I did pay deposit and already got the straightening done. G.E, MOlly and SL.... I do understand, I was not hesitant but just lazy. I live the othe side of town soooo was ****** off. Many of our clients also don't show up on time for meetings, unfortunately we can't charge them deposit :angry: That isn't a paid service though :)

I wouldn't hesitate in paying 50% upfront and I can completely understand why these salons now do it. So many people don't show for hair/salons appointments for no real reason, whereas if the deposit is paid they will more than likely show. No shows costs salons a huge amount of money in lost revenue and if you're definitely going to go to your appointment why not pay it to guarantee your stylist edited by Mollydxb on 07/05/2015 My friend here is a hairdresser and has said that so many clients dont bother to turn up for their expensive appointments therefore they have to collect deposits from clients. She has ordered so many hair extensions for people who have never turned up and she is out of pocket plus booking out 1-2 hour slots to do straightening and they have also never turned up I am the same as you and wouldnt mind paying up front or a deposit.

Just googled it, from what I can tell its an unedible banana, you learn something new everyday! [i'>Plantains are a member of the banana family. They are a starchy, low in sugar variety that is cooked before serving as it is unsuitable raw. It is used in many savory dishes somewhat like a potato would be used and is very popular in Western Africa and the Caribbean countries. It is usually fried or baked.[/i'> I hate bananas with a passion but plantains are delicious. I only know because years ago lived next to a Jamaican family and when we went round their house they cooked this and many other foods for us to try :)

Hi, My husband recently changed his job to abudhabi. I prefer to stay in dubai for my daughters schooling. As she is adjusted with school, friends and already in high school ,dont want to upset the whole thing. But is it okay to hold an Abudhabi visa and stay in Dubai? Hi Ladies, i am just looking for opinions really. we have been talking about buying a property for a year now. we found a villa that we really like but we are simply too scared to go for it as for the price payuing we could get a palace back home. we have been here for 10 years and will most likely be here for another 10-15 years if we can. we have properties back home but thought why not buy a property here and live in it instead of renting. Dubai real estate market is like no other market, its volatile and we are worried the market will drop in a year or in the coming few months as there so many speculations about the market dropping etc. what do you think?? thanks. I wish I had bought as the amount of rent I have spent out on in the last 9 years would of almost covered a mortgage. I did read in the press that sales of properties were down 20% in the first quarter of this year. I feel that prices may drop 5-10% by the end of the year as there are so many properties coming on line. Apparently Sports City has over 21 alone!!! If you can afford to hang out for a few more months perhaps see if the prices drop. If you have the deposit and can afford the payments and are going to stay another 10 years then go for it. Be prepared though if the interest rates go up which perhaps they will one day. I had several friends who this happened to and their repayments shot up ( Only for a short while though)

Hello ladies. I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me please. If I ordered an item of clothing online from Australia would I have to pay taxes on it after arrival here in Dubai? Not usually. I use shop and ship by Aramex to order clothes from the US and UK I believe if the cost is over a certain amount then you can pay extra for customs Geordie Expat may know what the cost before being tax is as I never buy more than AED1000 worth of items at a time

The "old" and "new" Greens have the same interior finishes. Nothing fancy, but perfectly fine. The exterior of the "new" Greens is slightly more modern/nicer and have fancier courtyards/pool areas, but otherwise they're similar enough. The difference seems to be that the "new" Greens apartment blocks tend to have many more bigger 2-3 bedroom apartments, while the "old" Greens is primarily 1 bedrooms and smaller 2-bedrooms, although there are some bigger 2-bedroom units. I don't think they have any three bedroom apartments in the "old" Greens. The highrises in the "Views" have both smaller and bigger apartments, depending on your needs. The finishes are nicer than in the Greens and the pool areas tend to be lovely. Then you have what I call the "midrises," which are in the Views side of the Greens and along the lake. The apartments have similar finish qualities as the highrises and vary greatly in size and floor plans, but some of the ones facing the lake on the upper level do have massive balconies and terraces and a number of them don't have upstairs neighbors, so you don't have the risk of people throwing debris off their balcony for it to land on yours. We had friends who lived in one of those apartments and it really was lovely, wonderful views overlooking the lake and park, calm and serene, and the massive terrace was wonderful for dinner parties. I was street facing with a massive terrace. Word of warning it had to be brushed everyday as the dust and the sand from the street was awful. Facing the pool or lake would be so much better :-)

I am in Al Arta and it is a very nice building. Quiet, well maintained and very pleasant tenants. I did like the ones Louise mentioned but they were more expensive than my budget I recently went to Panorama as I bought some second hand stuff from a tenant there. He used to live in Al Nakeel and said that it was better than Panorama. They had so many problems at Panorama including the window frames not being sealed properly so when we had the dust storm the inside of their apartment was covered in sand, the cooker broke and because it was under warranty and built in they had to wait a week before it was fixed. I have heard Al Samar having problems in the building. But not in Sidir/Nakheel/Dhafra/Arta/Alka

When they finished this roundabout there was a lot of talk about how the arrows were incorrect - there is no way you should ever be taking an exit after straight ahead from any lane other than the inside... . It is the same in the Greens Big traffic lights. First and second lanes from the left are to turn left, right lane to go straight or turn right lazy people don't want to wait and all 3 lanes attempt to turn left resulting is so many bumps Clear arrows on floor indicate this. There is a prang nearly every morning

North Wales is lovely...and by far the best part of Wales :D If you do go, visit Conway where there is a castle and "the smallest house in Britain", from there you can go over to Anglesey to visit Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch or Llanfair PG as it's known!! There is also the Blaenau Ffestiniog railway in Snowdonia... Gosh that brings back memories of my school trips to Conway Castle and holidays in Anglesey and Abersoch. Beautiful part of the world

Dangerous driving seems to be on the increase again and I cannot understand why when a driver makes an error they don't signal an apology by mouthing it or waving their hand I had a Female swerve into my lane as she was texting and when I beeped she went beserk waiving her arms around like a mad woman. We ended up next to each other at the set of traffic lights so I got out of the car and went over and asked very nicely why she did it and why she didn't just signal an apology as it was here fault. She was trying to blame another driver when in reality she was texting and not paying attention. I don't understand why people get so angry and aggressive, it is very alarming

Lately I have seen more western ladies driving aggressively making rude gestures on the roads and turning into the crazy people behind the wheels. I had one 'lady' going completely mad at me, I still don't know what I did wrong, but she was chasing after me drove infront of me and were swinging her arm towards me. The weird thing is that we go to the same coffee shop every morning and I don't think she knows it was me that she was so aggressive towards. There are a lot at present

Hi Samoura1 Good Luck in your move to Dubai. Like Sarahlou123 I live in the greens in a first floor apartment and must say the ground floor apartments with a large terrace rather than the Ground floor balcony that look onto the pool / community area do look like a good option. Some things to consider that I have observed: * Check out the neighbours! Some of my neighbours have lots of cats and a previous tenant in one of the ground floor with terrace unit spent lots of time installing wire fencing at the bottom of the fence to stop the cats coming in and using the gravel area as a large kitty litter bin. They also had concerns about privacy and spent lots of time trying to screen the areas near the bedrooms as they were concerned about people peeking in. * Have a look around, some of my neighbours use the terrace / garden as a bit of a dumping ground, others have made really lovely outdoor spaces which make me jealous when they are outside dining and entertaining. * Like Sarahlou123 says they don't come up that often, in my 4 years I have only seen one change of tenant in one of the four units I can see from my balcony. Although I do think they are a good alternative to a villa (no water needed to water the grass!) there are some issues around privacy and other peoples' pets you need to consider. If these are no issues and a unit comes up then go for it. LJ I noticed a lot of people put up privacy fencing and gazebos etc but Emaar are now fining people for such items as they are apparently fire hazards

Hello I have lived in the Greens/Views for 3 years In my last apartment I had a ground floor apartment with a very large terrace which at first seemed like a great idea but in reality I rarely utilized it and being on the ground floor the amount of cigarette ends/rubbish and even a half eaten burger that was launched off higher balconies put me off for life. If you don't mind that happening then go for it. They aren't the easiest to find as they are in demand but they do come up every now and then. They are also usually more expensive than their smaller balcony couterparts on higher floors. You may also find some ground floor apartments that face the street/community not pool that have the regular size balcony but you will have to ask the real estate agents as they don't advertise which floor the apartments are on propertyfinder.ae and justrentals.com are a good place to start

Hi Ladies, Could you plz recommend a cleaning company with efficient maid, have tried few but not satisfied with their work, Have a good day I used smart maids last Friday ( I don't usually have a maid) a lady called Disna came. Perfect English and very good. They have a website with the phone number on. I don't know price during the week as she came on Friday for 4 hours and it was AED40 per hour and I provided the cleaning products
