Daza, I've heard this from so many people. My cousin had her nails done, I confess I don't know the brand name, but it sounded like a plastic coating which lasted for about a month? Anyway, she said that it wrecked her nails and the nails of her friend who did it at the same time. I'm really pretty cautious about anything like that, talking of which sometimes when I am having a pedicure I see the way some of the beauticians are digging around down the side of other customers' toenails with a metal implement and I don't understand how they're sitting still! I'd be off my seat and out the door! Blimey, I won't let them do any of that kind of thing! I have gellish every 3 weeks and it hasn't ruined my nails at all. Perhaps I am lucky. I haven't had it done on my feet though. I used to use gel and acrylic and that did ruin my nails I love having my feet done but once they start filing the sole to get the dead skin off I cannot stop laughing as am very ticklish.

Hi there, This is a great site! I have just recently joined as we may be moving to Dubai this year. I am just putting the feelers out there and looking at areas and schools. We are originally from the UK but have lived in Australia for the past 9 years. With the possible move to Dubai, my husbands new position would be in the Jebel Ali area. We have heard that the Dubai Marina is a great place to live. I just wondered what sort of dynamics live in this area? We have two children aged 8 and 4. I would love to hear from any families that live in this area and what schools are nearby. We are also open to other areas and have taken a look at Arabian Ranches, The Springs etc. My husbands position is currently in negotiation stages, but we do know that the package would include $200,000 per annum for rent and the international schooling paid for. We may even get the full expat deal. I would love any feedback from anyone who has recently made the move to Dubai that may have some advice to give. Thanks! Traffic in certain parts of the Marina is awful. Since they built the tram JBR has been gridlocked with traffic. Be careful when choosing which part of the Marina you would live in as it isn't as an attractive place to live as it once was due to the traffic/construction

I had them done but because I am fair they didn't look right to me they look false and far too long. I ended up cutting them shorter to make them look right. They felt weird, not hairlike but like you have applied too much mascara. I ended up pulling most of them out. I then tried the individual lashes but had to give up as the glue really affected my eyes, they were watering like crazy and some of it got on my skin which flared up badly! I now stick to falsies which once you get the hand of putting them on are easy to apply

April I did mine in March and it took 11 days in total!! Procedure is simple just follow the above instructions and don't forget to print off the declaration form, get 2 pics and send your current passport off ( Ones with the ends cut off do not need to be sent) I took mine to DHL in Mall of Emirates on a Saturday and the cost to send was cheaper at AED180. Your new passport will arrive first and the next day your old one Send it as soon as you can. Once we head into the Summer the wait for it will get considerably longer

Shakira 2006 or 2007 nearly 4 hours. Took cameras off everyone at the gate and waited hours to get them back plus couldn't get out of the venue Sandance NYE ( Didn't attend thank goodness) Coldplays first concert in Abu Dhabi 5 hours to get out and home :-( I agree with extra toilets but an hour isn't much in the grand scheme of things

Saw a guy on Um Suqueim Road this morning holding up a phone and gawping into it, whilst visibility was barely beyond the bumper..... what is wrong with these fools? There's the people doing twice the speed limit in the left lane and to cap it all, the muppets doing half the speed limit in the middle lane because they're sending a text........ Barking. Mad. If I hadn't of been driving or had a passenger with me I would of reported him. It seems to be getting worse with the texters

Hi It has been a long time since i moved apartments however what documents to i need if i am renting directly from the LL Ejari Title Deeds Passport copy Have i missed anything out? We just have the Ejari and Passport copy, there were no title deeds at the time we first leased. The only other thing we asked for was a photocopy of the cheques once he had received them. Thanks. I am managing to find so many LL advertising directly which saves on fees but want to be safe. True. We're renting direct at the moment and that's all we have. We just asked for the photocopy of the cheques to try and cover our backs if any bounced for whatever reason. Although could all change in the next couple of months :( I am quite excited now. New change and new apartment. Out with the old :-)

apologies if this has been asked before. Can a landlord increase the rent again this year. He increased last year and I am under the impression that he cannot increase again for another year, ie every 2 years. Can't make any sense of the rera web site and cannot find specific answer. Hi there, i was in the same situation at the beginning of the year as i was due to renew my contract for the 2nd year. The landlord asked to increase my rent by 10%. I checked on RERA and it said am not due. I called the Dubai Land Department and i have to say they were fantastic, they gave me all the do's and dont's. In my opinion check RERA and call the Land Department. [b'>I was told they cant increase rent in the first 2 years, irrelevant of whether they give you notice or not.[/b'> I then emailed the landlord and i said i will not pay the 10% and that is how i have been advised by the Land Department and RERA and he had nothing to say but apologies. Best of luck. That is interesting as we were told, along with countless others no doubt, that the 2 year no increase stopped a number of years ago. Now it is all dependent on the RERA calculator. I don't see anywhere in the rental laws that states you cannot increase for 2 years. That was the old 2007 law. The new one 2013 states it is as per the RC. If this was the case then why is the RC in place?? Only for people who have completed more than 2 years in a property. I think that whomever you spoke to may be giving conflicting advise to both tenants and LL edited by sarahlou123 on 01/04/2015 Dear ladies, I cant agree or disagree with the above. I didnt know a lot about this (as i was new in the country) and i was so close to agreeing the increase as i thought maybe its the done deal. I apologies if am incorrect but i was just saying what happened to me. As i mentioned before anyone should not agree with the landlord because they will rip you off, so best advice do your homework and call relevant departments. :) Thankfully it has been all across the media outlets. We are all now getting wise to our rights whereas years ago many would not have questioned a LL regarding eviction/rental increases. Kudos to the powers that be for helping us all :-)

One of the 'little' quirks of this place. No two people in the same department ever give you the same information ;) http://ezestate.com/rera-rental-increase-law-dubai.html The 2013 Law which is a decree from HRH clearly states the percentages for rental increases however nothing about the 2 years

Increase in rent ( Providing it is inline with the Rent Calculator) does not have to be done by notary. An email or a phone call will suffice provided you are given 90 days notice. If it is outside the 90 days then they cannot ( As per the rental laws) I went through this last year when i renewed for my final year. The only document that needs to be notarised is the eviction notice

Yes, I know they are for a year. I think you answered my question with saying we need to move out on the 3rd. I am used to leases that are for a year but start on the 1st of a month and end at the last day of a month, not somewhere during the month, whenever it is signed. I guess I learned something new on this. That must be rather confusing for landlords to keep it all straight if everyone has a different begin and finish date all during the months. Oh well......... This brings another question though, is there a period where you can transition into the new house i.e. Would I be able to move into a new place, say late June in order to get the addc or would I need to go to a hotel while I wait for the certificate? I assume I must need the addc certificate before I can move into a new place? Leases are dependant upon when you actually move in. My current one is dated 1st of the month but my next place will probably be around the 25th of the month. People move in at different days of the month therefore the date will show the move in date I cant help with the addc cert tho sorry

The moving in form has to be submitted 5 days prior to moving in What concerns me is, what if you have handed over deposit and agency fees they are cashed ( They are usually cashed immediately) and then you find out that LL hasnt paid their annual fees?? Will agent refund the money?? I would be finding the agent and if he said he did all of this then he should have the move in permission from Emaar. We used to have boards up in reception stating who hadn't paid their fees but i havent seen them in a while What is the agent doing about it????? You should be able to get live information from Emaar regarding whether fees have been paid not have to wait 5 days to find out. One more thing to have to deal with

Ps - this has all arisen from my applying for a move in permit. The agent assured us it had been paid and now obviously, this is not the case. Emaar are now saying they wont issue a move in permit until it has been paid and they are deactivating our passes to the building/amenites/car park until then. Has the agent gone to ground? I would be camped outside his office Speak to the Rent Committee as soon as possible. Have you been into the Emaar office in the Greens and spoke to them or only over the phone? Let me have a word with the guys on the community FB page for the Greens and the Views They may have some advice I will post back when I get a reponse <em>edited by sarahlou123 on 31/03/2015</em>

As long as they can cut European hair, I don't care what their nationality is. (although I do understand that some nationalities hair is harder to cut than others). My colleague knows of a British mobile lady who covers Mirdif. I am just waiting for her details then will post Her name is Maureen and she lives in Mirdiff 050 5353382. Maureen is a great hairdresser and very popular. In fact when the time comes to start colouring my hair I would have her do it as she is brilliant at colour, especially blonde - I have friends who use her and their hair looks completely natural and in good condition. She was one of the ladies recommended by Mirdif moms on FB :)
