Personally I will only use a maid agency who uses mops which have been made with organic cotton. The agency should also have maids who sweep from left to right, not right to left as this is better for feng shui. The maid must also keep her back to the front door to allow the fluid energy conducted to ebb around her and straight out of the door.:lol:

Well I've done about 20 tests and all positive, still can't believe it. I'll have to go to a doctor here as delaying the inevitable. Any recommendations? I don't know if anyone will recommend someone on here for obvious reasons. Good Luck

Hello, Me & my family are relocating to Dubai mid this year and I was wondering if it would be beneficial to stock up on certain items and put in with our shipping container to limit our expense while out there? Things like: Bin bags Washing powder Tinned food (beans, sweetcorn etc) Also, what clothing to bring? Is it warm all year so you only wear shorts, t-shirts & dresses or does it get cooler where you would need jeans and a cardigan. Thank You edited by Angel1985 on 25/02/2015 Bin bags are plentiful and similar prices to the UK Washing power/liquid is very expensive here Tinned food is plentiful and cheap ( Baked beans/sweetcorn/tinned toms etc) Expensive items are clothing ( If you shop in M&S and Debenhams) Suntan lotion perfume Makeup brands Facewipes ( L'Oreal, johnsons etc) Pork We have Waitrose here so you can get practically everything that you can at home. Some supermarkets have concessions of Tescos and Iceland products too! It gets cold in the malls and offices so bring jeans/sweaters etc at the moment it is around 18 degrees in the morning and my office feels like an ice box ( I wear 70 denier tights to work in winter) If you like a vino get your quota on arrival at the airport as it takes a while to get your booze licence. It isn't strict per se but always best to be respectful in government buildings/public places/schools/malls etc Welcome! edited by sarahlou123 on 25/02/2015

Any reviews plz? Did it reduce cellulite or inches? I tried it back in 2006 at the Aviation club, it only helped reduce inches as I was exercising daily and reducing my calories. It isn't a quick fix and you need to exercise and eat less too. I cannot comment on the cellulite as luckily don't suffer from it too much. Thank You SL, I am in healthy range or weight, just considering to do on my thighs because its bulkiest part ?. I would be happy even if it drops one inch as it claims "targeted area weight loss" I struggle with my bottom half and am a classic pear shape. I found doing weights helped toned the bulky part up so it didn't look so big ( If that makes sense) :-)

Jumeriah Beach hotel asked my colleague for the above when he booked a brunch. Needless to say he refused as they wanted him to send a copy of the CVV number too!

The only thread I found was about single women needing the NOC. I will have my husband write one for me anyway. I hope I get to cross the border without problems. Who would single women get an NOC from? My single friend drove there a few weeks back and wasn't asked. My understanding is that an NOC is needed if you are on a spouse/fathers visa

Did I miss something? Please dont say this is *still* about Moonflower? It isn't no :-) What is it about SL? I stopped prepping for lunch for this :) edited by Redrec Tangle on 25/02/2015 A poster is resurrecting threads from other sites and posting them on here. It seems it is purely for research purposes as it seems to be the same threads and some are from other sites from 2008 ( That's the gist of it)

Apparently if you are just renewing you do not need it counter signed now. UK passports use DHL and will give you a discounted rate for sending thru them. It costs 210AED with both FedEx and DHL :-)

Most of the shops including Greeneye stay open all day as karama isn't as busy as it was pre 2009 They open at 10am and it is much quieter in the morning than it is in the evening The shop is on the left at the very end if you are coming from the Emirates NBD bank end

I used to wax them when in the UK but since moving to Dubai am a threading convert It doesn't hurt if you have a decent technician ( I am a wuss when it comes to threading). I got to Beena at Tips and Toes Greens but the other branches do it too I believe Beauty Connections in Oasis Tower on SZR do waxing but as the other posters say threading is far more popular and they can shape them better this way

So putting up a spoiler alert title does not work unless you are going to log straight into the Dubai forum. No problem for me at all just letting you know :) Thanks, I didn't know that :)

How long is it before they cut you off after you have requested the final bill? Also once the request has been made, how many days later are you able to pay it and recover the deposit? Asking as we are leaving the country. TIA I think from memory mine was around 3 working days and they deducted the deposit from the final bill and gave it to me in person at the DEWA place near WAFI. They are really helpful over the phone so give them a call http://www.dewa.gov.ae/consumers/customerguide/service.aspx?serviceno=119 edited by sarahlou123 on 23/02/2015

I am bit lost when it comes to looking at good communities or residential areas in Dubai with regards to close proximity to good British schools or easily commutable and afcourse also factoring in my husband’s commute to his office (Emirates headquarters). Can anyone recommend good British schools that have availability. Which area should we look at to rent? Please can someone shed some light on good expat locations together with the other factors ive highlighted. Appreciate any input Thanks in advance family areas and villas Arabian Ranches meadows Springs Lakes Mirdif Barsha Victory Heights Emirates Headquarters are close to Mirdif and Garhoud I cannot help with schools sorry Some good property sights are www.justrentals.com www.propertyfinder.ae

I know the score here, but think I may be pregnant. I'm not yet married, but am engaged. I need to make a GP appointment to confirm the pregnancy. Will they do anything with me being unmarried if the test is positive? Or do I have some leeway? Totally unexpected and now in blind panic! I have had friends who were in a similar situation and they got married pronto, don't quote me on this but I think if you don't get married by a certain point then it could cause huge problems. I wouldn't personally go to a GP here just incase however that is your call to make as accidents can and do happen. Have you done a pregnancy test?

You will get charged duty if your items exceed a certain amount I think it is over a 1000USD Do not quote me on this but Aramex Shop and Ship will tell you I tend to price check them here and online and see if it does work out cheaper with Shop and Ship as sometimes with the cost of shipping it isn't much different.price wise When the sales are on in the UK and US that is when there are bargains to be had

Hi ladies my old stylist left Dubai last year and I've been looking for another great stylist. I have shortish hair with a textured style. Just tried another hairdresser yesterday and she gave me a bob!!! No texture no weight cut out at all and cost a fortune to boot! Am pretty upset as I feel old with this style it's not the modern look I want :( Please if any of you lovely ladies can help I'd be so grateful xx Slam or Salon Ink. Seen good short hairstyles from both. Kelly at SI and Ali at Slam have both dealt with my hair when it was both short and long Both are very good however Kelly isn't the easiest to get an appointment with as she is in demand!

How can I get some channels or at least my British soaps? Heard there is a guys that does it for you. thanks You can stream them through a VPN or Apple TV ( With I player) however you have to have a very high speed on your internet. I use a VPN with I player and watch BBC1 which is good and rarely buffers but ITV is a different matter altogether and stalls a lot. I am with DU and have 32 speed There are people who supply the boxes but I have had bad reports about them working

Hi all, We are looking for part time maid in Motor City. 3 hours per day 5 days a week. Please if you know maid that is willing to work like this let me know. Any information is highly appreciated. Thank you. Have a nice day all. hello You will have to go down the agency route or sponsor one yourself You cannot use one that is currently sponsored by another family as it is illegal and would incur the family a huge fine and the maid deportation. If you pop "agency maid" or "maids" into the search box above there will be hundreds of threads and recommendations to go through Good Luck

I have been quoted AED 3,000 to do tape extensions compared to ring extensions for AED 1000 to AED 1500, can anyone recommend someone that specialises in tape extensions as I don't really want to pay AED 3,000 and my hairdresser said the ring extensions will be too heavy for my hair as it is already slightly damaged. Slam do them I believe and are very cost effective Donna at Roots also does them I have had the micro rings in the past and they aren't heavy at all. My hair is fine so I didn't want anything to weight them down. I now have keratin bonds as they stay in better but because of having such fine hair they have to be combed out when removed and it hurts a lot!

My hair is curly and frizzy. Plus damaged because of the hair color. I want to do permanent hair straightening for my hair. I have heard about hair rebounding and straightening. Want to know if it’s the same thing or two different things? If its two different thing what is the difference please? Any one can suggest me a good salon to straight my hair please and any idea how much it could cost me? My hair is about 3-4 inches below shoulders. TIA Rebonding is the same as straightening. The former is an Asian term. I would go for Kerastraight as others are full of nasty chemicals. Sorry I can't recommend a salon though
