hi yes we are still in middle of talks and offers with companies so fingers crossed the package is right for our family just wanted to find out about day-to-day stuff we hear schools can be very good....are there certain areas/communities recommended or not recommended for families obviously we are looking for a real family orientated safe area with schools/nurseries and plenty facilities for kids...I am SAHM but have no drivers license as yet but would also like to go back to some education/schooling for myself@some point I would say most gated villa areas are suitable for families. It will all depend on where your Husband is working. Popular communities in Dubai are Arabian Ranches The Meadows/The Springs/The Lakes Jumeriah Islands Victory Heights If you go onto justrentals.com you can get an idea of prices I cannot help with schools and there are so many if you click on the bars at the top that say families there is a lot of information to look at .

I preheat oven to 180C, wash kale, remove stems, break into pieces. In a bowl, drizzle evenly with olive or sesame oil and toss. Lay out on a baking sheet (I use cooking spray to line the sheets). Season with Sea salt., black pepper, chili, etc. Bake, rotating the trays (usually twice) until crisp, about 12-15 minutes...or up to 20 depending on your oven and how crisp you want it. edited by Beebers on 07/01/2015 I am hungry now :)

sarah, thanks, how long do you boil it for? I read somewhere a recipe for kale 'chips' with chill, that sounded interesting.... is it similar to broccoli? 20 minutes, it isn't really like Broccoli. Have you ever eaten the Irish dish Colcannon as it is one of the main ingredients in the dish. I would say more like cabbage

hi there everyone...im new to this site so excuse me for my lack of knowledge we are a family of 5((me my partner and our 3 young girls aged 18mths...4 years and 7 years)) we currently live in Denmark but are in the process of my partner((yes we are not currently married))changing jobs!!! Dubai has been offered to him...well a little south of Dubai for work I have been doing some online research but would be nice to hear from real families about pros and cons of a western family coming to live//work and play in UAE any help//info or advice would be greatly welcome :-) Welcome My understanding is you would need to be married and could not cohabit, I don't know if you plan to do this Sorry I cannot answer anything else regarding kids as I am not married The weather, the beach, my social life etc is much better than in the UK plus I do earn more and am able to save and live a better life here. The only downside for me is that shopping is too expensive here so I buy online

The 2nd season of Broadchurch started too, I watched the 1st episode and it looks like a corker of a series I watched it last night, was brilliant! It might even beat the last series. David Tennant isn't too bad to look at either ;-)

Recently moved to DXB, came across Max Real estate - so not very familiar with the law here. Paid them 6000 AED as security deposit, in cash. Lease finishes in March, and landlord is already a crook, dunno from whom money should be claimed. What should I do? NB Security deposit is mentioned on the contract but not on Ejari Any advice? Speak to the rent committee

Personally I would of called rather than emailed and then you could of asked if it could be re-arranged and also personally apologized I would try and call them tomorrow. I have many candidates who cancel or re-arrange due to illness and most of my clients/employers will give candidates the benefit of the doubt on the first occasion. I do prefer if they call me though as then I can tell if they are having me on ;-) I hope you manage to get an interview  edited by sarahlou123 on 06/01/2015

Does anyone know of any admin part time jobs available ? Am leaving my current employer end of Jan and want to keep working and agencies don't seem to have anything at the moment. I have plenty of work experience in Dubai.. Appreciate any assistance, thanks very much ! Very hard to find but can be out there I rarely if ever see them now, they are either temps or perms. If I do come across anything I will give you a shout. Have you looked on the jobs on here?

Sal is right, you can only do it from the NY address and it does cost more than the normal service strawberrynet.com sell perfume and deliver for free. It takes about a week I have only ordered shampoos and makeup from their site and had no issues

Check if she will have a limited or unlimited contract Most limited contracts are 2 years and if she leaves before the 2 years is up will get a 6 month immigration ban and have to pay back 45 days salary. A lot of the schools and nurseries put staff on limited contracts. They may of extended it to 2 years due to high staff turnover

Hi The friend that bought it is from the UK and it was almost 3 years ago ;-) so I doubt she will remember. It is next to one of the open cafes in the middle of the ground floor of Dubai Mall but not near the aquarium if that helps. Sorry I don't know the name or the location they display them next to the café it isn't a shop as such

I wouldnt rate it as one of the best brunches in Dubai but its not bad and as someone said, with the voucher its worth it. The last time we were there it was incredibly hot though (was in the summer) and they had to keep the door open to let some "cooler" air in. Have they sorted the aircon yet? We were there in November and sat outside at the far end, under the wooden part. It was ridiculously warm and we had to keep popping inside to cool down

The rowdiness always depends on the day not the location. We did Al Qasr on Xmas day and there were large groups chanting and waving their shirts around their heads. Was like being in a Weatherspoons after a football match, not what we had hoped for. I am surprised as Al Qasr is normally a quiet brunch :-(

I thought I had read that Mina Al Salam is kind of toned down, and not too wild. Maybe I have the wrong one in mind? I enjoy both toned down brunches as well as lively. But after seeing photos of some brunches, I think there are a few I would never want to go to. One particular photo comes to mind of a woman hiking up her hemline and posing with the chef...was just surprised the venue itself was advertising that on their FB page. I'm no pearl-clutcher, trust me, but if I want that kind of environment for that price, well, places in Vegas come to mind, and they serve better food! Mina Salam isn't rowdy. Yalumba and Saffron are the rowdy ones.

I have been there several times and enjoy it. The setting is beautiful however it does tend to get pretty busy. We always sit in the Chinese part at the end as it is less busy but if you want to be in the thick of it then you need to sit in the Mexican end. They have all types of food but the pork section is being refurbed to a separate area so closed at present Flat shoes and stretchy pants/dress etc required. There is one voucher in the blue book too

I generally buy my perfumes from the Duty Free and sometimes (for gifting) at Paris Gallery/Sephora, etc. We have visitors over who have heard that you get really cheap branded perfumes at shops in Bur Dubai. Am not sure if these are for real or fakes like the bags they sell in Bur Dubai/Karama. Any experience anybody. TIA A lot of the perfumes are fake and you will be able to tell I went to a popular shop in Bur Dubai a few years ago and bought Dior Addict. it smelt okay, took it home and compared it to the real one and believe me you could smell the difference and the smell wore off very quickly. There is a reason they are all very cheap. I would stick with DDF

Thanks Izzy & sarahlou123! :) The employment contract says there is a 2 month notice period during probation - is this normal or enforceable? Anyone been in this situation before? Labor law is 30 days notice period however companies can write whatever they want on a contract. the former is the law and they can attempt to enforce it but it is not law Go and speak with the government authorities where you work

You absolutely used to be able to get the box sets in Virgin - so that's a load of rubbish! Not sure where you'd find them these days though, probably have to order online. Amazon You can no longer get them in the shops here although I don't remember them selling the films here so perhaps that is why the box set are not sold

Thanks for the replies so far... If it is impossible, is there anywhere within Dubai or closer that you would recommend? I mean we're trying to look at under 40,000 a year which I know is a real stretch for somewhere half-decent. It used to be international city and Disco gardens but you wont get anywhere under 40k for that prices have increased rapidly

Yes it does unless you are on a limited contract NOC do not exist anymore. if you are coming from a FZ company to a non FZ entity and on an unlimited contract then you wont be banned etc It is different if you work outside of a FZ and are going to a new job also outside of the FZ.There it is all based on education and salary

My colleague does the Arabian Ranches to RAK but not on a work day and it takes him 45 minutes with no traffic. Sharjah to Dubai can now take 2 hours during the working week All the traffic flows from Sharjah to Jebel Ali in the morning and SZR is permanently at a standstill in the morning and the reverse journey at night. I would say 90-120 minutes if not longer if there has been an accident as there tends to be daily!
