Hello ladies. For those of you who might have moved house/apartments recently (or are looking to move soon) are LLs open to negotiating the advertised rent? The newspapers are saying that rents are on the downward spiral now. We are going to be moving houses in a few months after several years in the same place so am curious to know if rents really are starting to come down.. Would be grateful for any feedback :) TIA! Most agents may negotiate slightly if you pay with one cheque Example 90k 1 chq 93k 2 chqs 95 3 chqs

we received 12 month noticed and evicted end of October. reason mentioned on letter : his son from London will move in. but with his agreement, we have already extended 4 month.. we fully aware that nobody will move in. Today we received a mail saying that some real estate will come in your house and we refused. we think that he will put the house for sale .... Can we approach rent committee or nothing we can do ... ? edited by nath on 19/09/2014 The notice for eviction has to be for one of four reasons, family moving in or selling are two of the options. On my eviction notice it doesn't mention the one of the four legal reasons. If they are selling I don't think you can do anything about it as it is a legitimate reason to evict, however if you approach the rent committee ( not RERA) if they move another tenant in after you have left to raise the rent then you will need proof of this. Be aware though there was a poster on here who took her LL to court because of this and she lost.

I agree with Mannikat on this one. It is a common way to alert other drivers that you are going to reverse park. I think most if not all drivers pop their hazards on to do this You usually have to, because the person behind you doesn't look any further than their bonnet and ends up sitting in your boot! Hazards simply means 'I've stopped, am maneuvering, go around me'. If people paid more attention to what was going around them, stopped being so impatient and were more courteous - that would be great. Wishful thinking FD, when I stop, indicate left to go into our undercar park some fool always tries to overtake me as I am turning. The amount of near misses now has me going to the end of the road and u turning as its safer to turn right into the carpark that way. Too many idiots here

What is it with Marina Mall???? I hit a trolley there and dented my car door......then again thinking about it I think the trolley hit me..... I pulled into a space and didn't realize the skirt on the bottom of my car had gone over the separater thing on the floor. When I reversed it made the worst noise ever and I had pulled the bumper almost clean off :-( That is EXACTLY what happened to me!!! ARGHHHHH So Angry me too as it cost a fortune to pop it back on :-(

Hello! Starting to break into a sweat at the thought of having to do Christmas dinner at home for 8, which is prob more like 12 as we are family of BIG eaters ? Has anyone pre-ordered before, and from where? Just need the cooked or premarinated turkey although if it makes sense cost wise to go with trimmings then I will... Thanks Most of the hotels do a cooked turkey with the trimmings however the turkey tends to be huge and the trimmings small so do extra roasters, veg, stuffing, gravy, cranberry, bread sauce and **** in blankets if you like those ( You can usually buy the latter made up from park and shop I have used Rotana hotels in the past but there have been many posts on this on here if you do a search

Thanks, I am currently reading through the Canadian Government webpage. I don't think it can be done here either. I don't think many can. Ours has to be notarized by a solicitor in the UK, then off to the foreign and commonwealth office and UAE embassy in London

Hi, does anyone know the process? I have been told that I have to have the documents reviewed in Ottawa and then attested by the UAE embassy in Ottawa. Does anyone know if this is correct? Is it possible to have them attested here in the UAE? Thanks in advance. I don't think you can get this done in the UAE however there are firms who can do it for you for a fee. Try Index attestation, I used those for my UK ones

I have heard that there is a great little fish restaurant tucked in off JBRoad. Apparently they have plastic tables and chairs, the food is good and cheap. Anyone have more detailed directions or know of the place that I am referring to? Thanks. I don't believe it is that cheap anymore and they don't sell chips ( Well didn't went I was there years ago) Its behind Dubai London clinic on beach road, after 2nd petrol station ( coming from Marina) name is Buqatir

[i'>Seriously annoying![/i'> Guiness, absolutely agree and I laughed when I read that letter in [i'>7 Days[/i'> because I have also wondered what earthly reason there could be for blocking parking and impeding traffic while taking multiple manoeuvres to back into a space that should take five seconds to park in...... Is it part of worldwide driving tests? I know it is in most European countries but cannot comment about other countries.

It is okay to take 100ml bottles up to a certain amount They are pretty flexible here when it comes to baby milk as I have seen mothers go through the security checks with them. The cooler bag could be part of your hand luggage I asked the ladies I work with who have babies and they said that it was no problem They may ask you to taste it though :-) and do inform them of what you have

I think for her own sake something (in house) should be mentioned regarding this action. Should someone complain formally to the police etc she will be imprisoned and then deported. This is not acceptable here in the UAE (or in most countries I would think). I wonder what her poor teenage son was thinking. Certainly I would not want my 10year daughter seeing this and thinking it is OK because it is not. Topless sunbathing is pretty standard in Europe.... All shapes and sizes when I was in Spain.

It is annoying when you have to fill in your details on job sites with your DOB, nationality, gender, marital status and even religion! If companies asked for that information in the UK they'd be in sooo much trouble. We aren't in the UK though ;-) ;)

Sorry to go off on a tangent but has anyone ever visited the lakes regions in the summer time in Germany and felt, um, embarrassed? Those women let it all hang out! I lived in Germany for several years and remember seeing all of this at the place called Sudsea ( spelling may be wrong) I was embarrassed at first but after a while it didn't bother me I wandered onto a nudist beach without knowing in Fuerterventura once and got out there as quick as I could haha

Look for the Mina Seyahi Hotel JBR has a public beach to walk along I don't think you can get onto the stretch of beach at the end of JBR and The Westin etc as they are private beaches however my colleague lives near the Marina Crown and has to get onto the beach by the Meridien Beach resort which is a 10 minutes walk away To walk out of your place and straight onto the beach you really need to live at JBR or just behind it My colleague who is just back in from lunch lives near Barasti and she said it takes her 20 mins to get in to work :-) edited by sarahlou123 on 06/11/2014

As a child growing up we didn't have help Mum did it all ( With 4 kids and Dad worked away) We were taught to pick up after ourselves, make our beds, tidy our room, put the rubbish out, help with the dishes, cooking etc we earned pocket money from doing these chores. At the time I hated it but it did teach me valuable lessons in order to help me when I left home and lived alone I have no issue with anyone hiring help as that is their choice and it gives someone a job All the successful people I know and have worked with didn't have help so I feel that point is moot

Wow, that is rather long! I am not so keen on JBR - I don't really like the apartments as they seem smaller than what I have otherwise seen. The Marina ones look nice, though. What are the Greens like? I too work at the DIFC but live in the Greens. I used to live in the Marina however moved 3 years ago as it was too noisy, busy, traffic was awful and still is around JBR etc It used to take me anything from 30 minutes to an hour to get to the Marina. It now takes me 16 minutes unless there has been an accident I think if you find the right building then the traffic isn't so bad and once the tram is open ( 5 days) it will be better. If you live further out close to Barasti etc then I imagine getting out is far better than living at JBR end. This map may help regarding apartments. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=map%20of%20dubai%20marina%20buildings&qs=n&form=QBIR&pq=map%20of%20dubai%20marina%20buildings&sc=1-19&sp=-1&sk=#view=detail&id=E91A81EDE97749A833D00BCF125828B644873B19&selectedIndex=8 I have a friend who lives in the Marina Residences near Grosvenor House and that is a lovely clean building. The Views is the newer part and they look over the golf course. They are developed by Emaar who I feel are one of the best developers here in terms of finish, amenities, security etc. Downtown is also a Emaar project Pools are fantastic, its clean, lots of trees/greenery which is was I wanted coming from a very small UK village. Shops close by, supermarket, pizzeria, ice cream shops, café, salon, nail salon, pharmacy etc, we have Tecom across the street which is full of shops, hotels and bars Mall of the Emirates is 10 minutes away as is the Metro Stop Have a look on just rentals.com website http://www.justrentals.com/dubai/all-apartments-for-rent-in-the-views.html?minbed=1# Expect to pay 100-120 a year I live in Turia which are low level ones and they are costing 100-105 now I love where I live but have to move as the rents are too expensive for me, I wont go too far though as I like not sitting in traffic to go to work

I must admit I enjoy having someone some in to do the 'hard' work twice a week. I absolutely hate mopping the floors, give me a carpet and hoover any day :) She's ok with the ironing, but I still do my own washing and iron anything remotely good myself, or if it's DH shirts they get sent out. I was a bad Army wife and he did all the ironing. I cant iron for toffee and have to send it out I bought one of the steam mops and they are much better than regular ones edited by sarahlou123 on 06/11/2014

Hi Im looking for a Christmas Ornament to hang on our tree this year that says DUBAI on it. Like a ball or a figure of some sort with the word DUBAI written on it. My family and I buy an ornament that reflects our year each Christmas to put on our tree and since we moved to Dubai this year I would really like to get one. I have checked Carrefore and Home Center and no luck so far :( I bought one from ACE. It has a camel and other things on it and says Dubai

Would be great if we could get some help on some good places to eat but not spend too much. For curries go to the institution that is known as Ravis in Satwa You sit on the street and will be surrounded by many different nationalities. The food is fab and ridiculously cheap!

I suggest you get in touch with the relevant office at immigration for the particular questions. But generally, once a person has worked for a year, despite any stated length of contract, both employee or employer can give usually between 1-3 months notice to quit a job (including bankers and lawyers on contracts in the UAE whose employers have spent a ton of money to fly them over, pay their accommodation, children's schooling, health care, etc.). Even if not written into the contract, the same respect should be given to a domestic worker. Maids do not have the same labor contracts as we do I would speak with immigration

Will you buy a house or rent?. She advised that house prices are very expensive at present and her Sister has just bought a 3 bed house 50 minutes outside the city and it cost her a whopping over 300,000GBP however renting is cheaper She has some contacts in Melbourne that may be able to help you if needs be
