i once saw someone driving on SZR with the parking sun shades on the back window..... I see the full raybanesque tints all the time raybanesque - if you made that up - it made me smile - clever! If that's what it's called - then I learnt something! I don't know the correct name for them but they resemble the mirrored Raybans :-)

Alismum, if you have the Broadband, talk surf and watch then you have wifi at home. When the wifi was originally set up you should have set it up with a passkey and this is what is needed to log in to your wifi. If you don't know your wifi passkey then I suggest getting in touch with DU to reset it for you. Wifi at home would then be included in your monthly package and no need to pay for expensive data bundles. Really!, I have had this package for about 5 years now and the guy never said anything about wifi. I will nip to DU then as I need to pay the bill anyway. I will ask them. Thank you ladies, it's amazing what info you can get on here, am so grateful. edited by Alismum on 27/10/2014 I have only recently set mine up. Before it was lead from the laptop into the wall :-)

Hi ladies, I would love to know what are the best facial treatments you have tried in town that made a difference? either it is just cleansing or a special treatement please do share! what treatment/procedure, where, cost... appreciate your infor as the weather getting betther we can enjoy some facial pampering!! I will be going to Essa at JLT for the Dermologica calming one My skin gets very sensitive and red and nothing seems to be helping it. I had a chat with the British lady there who told me about clients that come in with acne Roscea and other sensitive skin conditions. She has helped them enormously. I think the prices start from 250 I have had other Dermologica ones done and personally feel they are the best to brighten and make the skin look fresh

Before I had WIFI I could use the internet but the lead went from the wall to the laptop, if that makes sense In order to have WIFI in the house I had to buy a router. I am not very IT savvy ha :-)

AM, that is a good idea to buy the pre-paid data packages for du. With Etisilat, I just punch in a code to subscribe every week and it pulls from the credits on my phone. I have a du data card for my iPad (haven't used it in ages) and if memory serves, the 50 dhs option for 100MB was the best deal. The 20MB did not get far. If you get the 50 dhs/100MB package, it automatically expires in 30 days or upon using all the 100MB, whichever occurs first. I'm in the marina also, and have a combo package with du for the house, with wifi. Had they told you when you signed up that they didn't offer wifi in this area, or am I misunderstanding you? There is wifi here Beebers, but I don't think it's part of my package. Perhaps it's a separate payment. When I turn on my wireless on the laptop it asks for a passkey I have the broadband Talk, Surf and Watch. Have you got a router in the house? pick one up and you can have WIFI I also have surf, talk and watch package and use WIFI in the house

I've done that at a brunch before (Beachcombers at JBH). It's so easy to drink far too much with an all-in package! Thought that was the whole point of brunch, lol... I was drinking coffee at Brunch on Friday. My I have changed!

All of them are great friends, not up their own @@@@, in debt, brunch every weekend, rude, arrogant, individuals One of my oldest friends was born and raised here and she is one of the nicest people you could meet.

Hi, This is my first Halloween in Dubai and was wondering if there is something organized in Downtown for kids 8 and 11years? I know they do trick and treat in other residential areas of Dubai, do they do in Downtown? Thanks in advance :) edited by Gabri511 on 22/10/2014 I live in an apartment and the security will only allow kids who live in the buildings to do trick or treating in the tower they live in. I imagine it isn't easy in an area dominated by apartments as gaining entry to the buildings may not be allowed. I hope you find something

You asked for some opinions, so here goes. I hope that it collapses. It was never a good idea... Why do you say that? In very simple terms, because I know nothing about economics, Europe was much better for me when each country had their own currency. I used to live in France and my money went a long way when changing from dollar to franc. I also know many Germans who were much happier spending marks. They felt that things were cheaper in mark. I lived in Germany when they had marks it was so cheap and our wages went a long way I went back for a visit in 2009 and the Euro had pushed all costs up. I couldn't get over how expensive it was.

Thanks ladies :) If it's included then that makes 180,000+ for an apartment an absolute bargain ;) Sarahlou what is the housing fee? I've not come across that? And how much is it if you don't mind me asking? Hi its 5% of your annual rent 750AED a month on top of your DEWA bill I live in a one bed Emaar property and my bills are usually AED450 a month Housing is AED312 so the other 138 is for water and electric :-) There are no bargains to be had here when it comes to real estate :-(

The UAE is the only country in the middle east that requires this ... other places like Jordan you can just stick them in the corridor or kitchen. Doesn't stop it happening. I once viewed a house where the maids room had been extended and turned in a guest room and the maid was in the laundry cupboard on a sleeping platform built above the washing machine and dryer :( There is a family of 7 plus maid in a 2 bed in my building I have visions of them all sleeping a la navy style. 6 bunks to a room!

Old town is part of Emaar. I am in an Emaar property elsewhere and do not pay addition district cooling costs. I only get a bill for electricity, housing fee and water Apartments can differ. We all have our own panel on the wall to control the apartments A/C I only have one panel so if I switch it on the living room and bedroom is on. My friend in a larger apartment has one control in the living and bedroom I hope this helps

Really? a nationality bashing thread?! NO, it;'s an individual thing - no need to mention nationality. I wasn't bashing the brits at all. I have plenty of British friends whom I love dearly. I was teasing and genuinely asking if it was a cultural thing, but I will delete that part since people here take it to that level. You wrote a post mentioning British people yet say you were teasing but generally asking if it was a British thing. I am confused?

Hi Ladies, I'm thinking of bringing myself into the current age & upgrading my phone. What are your thoughts please on iphone vs blackberry. Iphone is so expensive, is it worth it? Are there any features that one has that is better than the other? I appreciate your thoughts as I'm a bit lost.. I have had both and will always prefer the Iphone. I can't type very well on the BB I feel the camera is very good on the Iphone and using I tunes is very easy for all my music I still only have the Iphone 4s as I cannot afford the 6 and have had no problems You just have to get a case for it as if it drops it can smash easily

Hi, can anyone suggest a fun work activity that we go to? Like an outing or picnic. I want to do something with our team like you can back in UK, picnic with wine and beers and games etc....but not sure if you can drink anywhere here in the open... Drinking is a big no no in the open or at parks etc How about bounce in Al Quoz :-) Or Jump Boxx in Mirdif? Watercooled at Jebel Ali Resort does great parties - you can do Kayaking, Paddle boarding, donut riding, etc. And drink wine and picnic at the same time ... Thanks Guinness I would be interested in watercooled. I didn't think of hotels. Apologies to the OP

I rarely see jobs that interest me but this is one that I'd like to apply for. The trouble is it states on the advert that they are looking for people aged 25 - 35, for example. Even though I fit the criteria, I'm appalled that they would only open the job to certain ages. It's not a job that demands a level of fitness or anything and many people around the world do this job until they are quite old. So now I'm torn. Do I suck up my principles and apply for a job to work for an ageist company? Or do I remain sadly unemployed? Go for it as GE says. I have clients who change their mind regarding gender/nationality/age etc once they have met the candidates face to face

How do you know it can be served mid contract? I can get security to keep an eye yeah. We have tried to negotiate but she only come down by 5,000 AED and its simply still too high. Also, its the principle of the matter I think. She lives in Deira and was shouting at me over the phone saying her rent has increased so why shouldnt mine! Saying how can she pay hers... shes a crazy b***h! Shouting telling me to get out of the property now to just leave now! Totally unacceptable. I went to the place that served me the LL notice and asked them. They said it can be served at any time. I agree her abusing you is totally unacceptable

my eviction notice was served at the end of my last contract It can be served mid contract but most will do it at the end of your current one I think you can only play detective to know if anyone new moves in. Do you have security? maybe they can help you. I would let her know about the re-renting scenario and firmly tell her that you will investigate this and if needs be take her to the rental court Failing that are you able to give her an increase to an amount you are comfortable with. I know you legally don't have to do this but if you want to stay.

Why not try the Greens/Views Low level buildings, beautiful pools, area is clean with trees and a lake Close to metro stop/shops/restaurants/MOE. Lots of families around too It is quieter than JLT and The Marina and very easy to get out of in the morning/evening Isn't that the Hessa street junction? I always find it a nightmare. The Greens is a lovely community though. I don't go onto Hessa street at all. We all come out near Tecom so don't go anywhere near that junction. I would only use Hessa street if I had to go towards Arabian ranches or Motor City etc :-)
