I think you'd be better staying in the legal field and contacting all the legal co's here direct (easily googleable). But as Izzy states, applying from the UK will be tough, you'd need to be here for interviews. Could you come for 3 or 4 weeks to investigate and attend interviews?? Thank you for your reply. I could only come at the earliest around March next year as I have no leave from work until then. But I would love to come. My plan was to find something at not an amazing pay- just something to get me out there and live on, and then whilst I am there search for something better whilst working. Do you think this would be a bad idea? My boyfriend will be working out there and he can support me if I need any help whilst I am working the lower paid job. I would say be careful taking a lower paid role until you find something better as companies don't take to kindly to that. They don't really like job hoppers if that makes sense. It is always best to be here to look for jobs as networking is your best bet. As the other ladies said you are competing with ladies who will take very low salaries, who have UAE experience, are on their Husbands visa or speak several languages. There is still a demand for Western nationals however to get a decent paying EA/PA role you need several years UAE experience. The days of EA/PA getting huge salaries are now a thing of the past. thanks Mrsg1, i phoned the BlowDry Bar but fully booked for Friday morning : ( i will defo try there next time! I have got an app at Shima with Fadwa, fingers crossed she makes a good job or i will have to cancel Brunch - haha. thanks. She has always done my hair really well. It has stayed all weekend in the past! She isn't the gentlest at blow drying though so be warned ;-)

Yalumba doesn't offer a non drinking package! I do think most others do now though. Also wanted to add, we don't go to any with a blaring DJ - the ones we go to are a very civilised affair, and most enjoyable :) I wouldn't go to Yalumba if you paid me ;-)

Personally I didn't rate the blowdry bar, I could of done a better job myself The best 2 hairdressers to curl my hair are based at the Shima Beauty Salon ( Greens) her name is Fadwa I think and you have to ask for her. The other who uses straighteners to do them and they stay all day is Marijo at the Tips and Toes hairdressing salon on Al Soufah Road I have fine hair and most curls drop but the 2 above ladies manage the impossible! Both get booked up quick but are open on a Fri morning

I'm looking for large cup bikinis but my back size is 34. Anywhere else other than TKD? They only had 2 in my size. Thanks! I can relate I am a 32 and everywhere only goes to D or DD .... If you have shop and ship try some UK websites but ones that might deliver cheaply are new look UK Kelly brook range, ASOS.com deliver but takes a few weeks ( just got some in the sale myself) pour moi too .... I also think they have Boux Avenue at Festival City Mall which is a lovely shop X I have bought some E ones from Debenhams, M and S at Festival City and Matalan They had 34/36 sizes. Didn't look for 32 though Mel so cant let you know if they had that size

If you want to go a bit further down the road the Sheraton does a pool/beach day for ladies on a Saturday. It costs 110AED and you get the 110AED back in food and beverage. You have to be there before 11am though. It has a swim up pool bar but the sea and beach are far too hot at the moment. Getting into the sea is like having a hot bath!

Morning ladies, I've started doing the Jillian Michaels again but I don't want to keep doing the same workouts everyday prefer a variety just to avoid boredom. I hit the gym once a week at least but sometimes the gym in my apartment is so packed just impossible to get a good workout on the machines and I tend to rush as time is crucial for me as im always a busy SAHM. So im looking for suggestions from fit mums out there! I've come across some workouts on YouTube but so overwhelming just don't know which ones are good. Suggestions anyone? I need to get back to how I use to look before I moved out to Dubai! TIA x Look up interval training on the treadmill. The Body For Life is a good workout too 2 of my friends did it at home and the change in their body is amazing!

So we are leaving. It's very short notice, just signed up for a new one year contract in existing villa in August, have given our Landlord a month's notice, said that we were happy to pay for the second month if he didn't find a tenant. Landlord said after our month's notice we would be expected to move out AND STILL PAY HIM FOR AN EXTRA 2 MONTHS!!!!! We called RERA and they agree with the Landlord. I'm shocked! 4 years ago we moved into a villa in Mirdif because we were desperate and she wanted to break her lease early. We paid a full years rent to her landlord at the new price he wanted and she got to leave with no fines. I think it is really unfair to us tenants to be 'fined' two months. We always thought we would leave here within the next few years if a job in the UK came up (which it has), if we had known about the penalty then we would have moved out in August and leased somewhere short term. Feeling blue :( Is this correct or have RERA just misheard what my hubby was trying to explain to them? I believe there is a 2 month penalty for breaking the lease early. I don't know how set in stone this is by way of the law though as there is nothing in the rental laws regarding this

Could you please suggest lipstick shades for brown skin. And if you could also mention their names or numbers in brands like deborah, max factor etc. Not very high end brands. Thanks. Why don't you pop into Debenhams and see which shades suit you as every skin tone is different be it brown, white, pale, red etc. They have Max Factor, Rimmel, Maybelline and are all good prices. I suit most colours and have quite pale, prone to reddish skin. It all depends on your foundation, eyeshadow etc.

I have used DR Jafar Khan for facial/other procedures ( Not what you want though) He works out of Aesthetics International and they have a website. He isn't the cheapest however I trust him implicitly with any procedure I were to have. They gave a laser and cosmetology centre there. http://www.aesthetics.ae/procedures/laser-center-cosmetology-clinic/ Dr Allen Rezai at Elite in Dubai Healthcare City is also good. To be honest the cheaper the procedures the less likely I would be to get them done. They cost is usually linked to how good and in demand the DR is I was told by DR Khan that having a chemical peel would make my skin worse. Mine is a little sensitive but not too bad, mainly prone to redness and you would have to stay out of the sun ( which I do on my face) If you put in "Chemical Peel" in the search post above there are lots of threads for you to read through Good Luck . <em>edited by sarahlou123 on 21/09/2014</em>

We did this at Atlantis with the sea lions and dolphins. There were children there 5 and above. All enjoyed it. So yes the age is fine and they will enjoy it. I want to add after reading the responses on here last night I have asked around and was able to obtain "The Cove". I will be watching it to open my eyes to this and if appropiate may even share with my children. It is very distressing and made me feel ill. :-(

Oh shame ! That would be good ! X Its not affiliated with the UK as none of the shops are. They are usually run by the big companies here ( Al Shaya runs all the Debenhams) Aramex shop and ship is a god send as you save a fortune buying online as the UK always has sales on. I bought a dress from Miss Selfridge. It is AED325 here. I got it for AED114 which included the delivery!

"safe following distance" is not a widespread concept here. No matter which lane I am in, I always leave plenty of room in front of me. Most the 2+ car accidents occur because so many people ride each others' ***** And is it just me, or do Oasis water truck drivers seem to be involved 1/4 of the time? what's up with that There was one involved in a bump this morning by MOE ;-) If you try to leave a safe distance in front them someone always pulls into the space I find the taxis to be terrible drivers.

Yes the roads are terrible at the moment. I see at least two accidents a day and the volume of cars on SZR is unbelievable. I don't remember it being so bad before. Are there more people in Dubai ? I did read that 500,000 visas had been processed in the last 7 months! and 5000 illegals were kicked out. I know what you mean about the accidents, it seems to be at least 2 a day on SZR

Moreover, if one has a bank loan on one's own car, it is necessary to get a non-objection paper from the bank!!!!!! So, I just try to be careful with the local laws and policies... Ladies, I have a question that can sound a bit stupid :) For the upcoming Eid we booked a stay in Muscate. We have one car provided by my husband's company to him and it is a Hertz long term rental car. Can we drive this car for our trip? We also have our own car but I'd prefer to use the Hert's car to avoid spare kilometers with my own ... How does it work at the boarder? Please , share your experience! Yes, just make sure you have car insurance for Oman and take your passport Border is easy to cross but at EID there will be ALOT of traffic

I received my eviction notice at the real estate agency when I was renewing my contract - it was not notarised, nor was it delivered by a registered postal service. On the letter it said that she wanted the property for personal use, which I very much doubt as she is not a resident of the UAE. Do you think I have any chance challenging this, just because notice was not delivered correctly. TIA This is a very grey area as it says in the laws it is has to be notary public however I know of some tenants that were just sent emails and the RC accepted this.

Hi Ladies Long-time lurker here. Does anyone know of any junior or part-qualified accountancy roles? My husband was made redundant a few months ago and is having no luck at all. He is arabic and has many years of local experience. He is applying to anything he finds on Bayt/Monster etc etc but often doesn't even get acknowledgements. He has never struggled to find a role like this before. Much stress on the family! Any leads or tips greatly appreciated. x I don't have any finance or accounting roles at present nor do my colleagues If I do hear of any then I will be in touch. Has he tried Gulf Talent? The problem is that there are so many accountants who are qualified looking for roles that companies can afford to pick and chose. Things are picking up now the holidays are over. I hope he finds something soon. :-)

Slightly off subject, sorry …. why do people pay for e-gate when you can register your passport for free at the gate? Last time I arrive I went to e-gate with passport, looked into camera and passed passport to official and it was done. Now I just put passport in reader at e-gate. No charge, no hassle. Is there any advantage to paying to register your id? The smart gates are a new thing and I don't think many people know about them yet I have another year on my E Gate then will switch to this service. Am I right in asking that only terminal three has this service at present?

Being inspired by all the referendum news I made shortbread...this was the recipe: 55g caster sugar 125g butter 180g flour They taste nice but came out a little...too short? If that's how you describe it? I thought it felt too buttery when I was cutting the biscuits but I don't know if thats the reason. The texture is of a normal biscuit like a butter biscuit not really thick and hard like regular shortbread. Can anyone help? Or maybe let me knowna fool proof recipe for good traditional shortbread? TIA I have used brown sugar rather than caster and did you soften the butter or melt it?

I do think if the apartment is sold before your agreement ends 2015 then the new owner has to give you 12 months and there has to be a valid reason for he/she to ask you to vacate He/she moving in They are selling Major maintenance ( walls falling down etc) property is being demolished If the agency had thought about it they would of given you 12 months notice when they said it was up for sale, now your time in the property will increase. ;-) The new LL cannot just ask you to leave as they want to re-rent it to someone else at a higher price Thanks for all the info :-) I highly appreciate it. I wouldn't draw the agency into a conversation about the sale. I would just cross whichever bridge you have to IF they ask you to move out. I think they are just informing you that they are selling that's all and it may not sell that quickly or at all. The law is on your side
