Hi all, We are moving back to Dubai and I am quite keen to move into Arabian Ranches (maybe Palmera section). Any feedback on Ranches would be appreciated. Also thinking of signing children up to Jebel Ali Nursery at the Polo club. Feedback on this would be gratefully received. Thanks. I don't live there if I had children I would :-) I love the Ranches. Huge community feel and lots of families. They have a FB group too

We have a few different events coming up and would like to get my makeup done for this ( normally don't wear much ) I have tried searching on here but haven't really seen anything Thank you. Makeup forever in the Dubai mall were good. Mac made me look like a clown I miss having my makeup done at home, all professionals and you only pay the equivalent of 120AED and you receive freebies too. Notice period to leave and fee change is standard. 12 months to move out and before 90 days for any change in rent or contract. Our current contract states 2 months for change in rent terms. That's why I assumed not all contracts are the same. Mine does too but it is 90 days as per the law :-) I think they are just the old contracts that have never been changed

We also bought an apartment with the tenants and didn't change the rent fee until tenant has moved out. But small advise would be: just check your current tenancy contract, especially the parts regarding notice period (for termination or fee change) - as not all tenancy contracts are the same. it doesn't matter The law supercedes the tenancy contracts and any changes have to be inline with the rent calculator,non renewable contracts are illegal and will be thrown out at the RC and 90 days has to be given. Thankfully the powers that be are very fair and clear on this

I did the new Atkins for 2 weeks I mainly ate meat, fish, veg veg veg. I managed to lose 12 pounds in the 2 weeks!! I went to my friends wedding in July and put half of it back in a week :-(

anyone got any recommendations - my housemaid (incredulous as it sounds) has managed to dislodge the washing machine door and drop it on the floor - resulting in the glass front shattering. the machine is nearly new and in perfect working order, so would like to see if i can get a replacement door somewhere. thanks all How on earth did she manage to do that? What make is it?

Actually I read it wrong - its 70 dh for 30 minutes but we're expected to pay 1400 dh upfront! In my leisure centre at home its GBP6.40 for an hour lesson! or AED600 for 14 lessons Very expensive here

Hey Busybee2, Thank you for the input. Do you have any idea about a reasonable salary/ per month for a single professional? Based on my experience I have seen roles like this pay 15-20,000AED a month with medical and flight ticket for self only. The salary is inclusive of housing and transport Abu Dhabi do tend to pay slightly higher salaries than Dubai so you may get a little higher than the top end I posted

They have been raising the rent in RAK as well, and the gated communities here in RAK have seperate Electric generators and water system, so the property management charges double the price for the electricity, lots of villas received bills of 6000 AEDs or more for the month of july, so kind of defeats the purpose of living in RAK for the low cost while they are charging so much .. The Ranches and The Springs both have FB groups Perhaps join them as they will be able to give you a wealth of advice :-)

Hello ladies, hope all is well. My husband and i and out little 15 months old been in the UAE and to be specific in Ras AL Khaimah for about a year now. We are considering moving to Dubai during November. Last year when we were looking for small villas in the Arabian Ranches and the springs they were way too expensive and not many listed on the market for rent. Now looking through Dubizzle and agencies there seem to be Tons of them available compared to Last year. Is there a reason of why more vacant villas available now? are people moving out of those two communities or out of Dubai in general? Any tips and advices about living in the Arabian Ranches or the SPrings? which one you\d prefer? Also how expensive are the utility bills during the hot summers? your help is greatly appreciate! The prices have gone through the roof and people have probably had to move due to the cost or the LL is pulling the old I am selling/moving in so that they can get a new tenant and raise the rents! If I had a choice I would prefer the Ranches to the Springs

There are so many new buildings being built in Dubai. There are 3 going up in the Greens alone and I was at Sports City on Saturday and there are so many there I hope that there will be more empty buildings so the prices come down Everyone I know is having to move next year as their LL is selling ;-)

My DS has just started learning the drums and we need to get him noise-cancelling headphones to protect his hearing. The ones we've seen so far seem pretty expensive for children's use. at that age there is only so much you can do. They are too young to reason with or understand and a little too old to hope they'll sleep much. Yes you may get tutted at, frowned at etc, but you'll get through it and soon be at the other end. Don't worry too much about it! I would never tut at a Mum struggling with little ones. I would rather help if I could as I can never sleep on a flight. I only struggle with the ones that continually kick the back of your seat with parents who don't tell them to stop

what are the chances of this turning up ladies? flew in with Emirates but no case ;-( My friends Husbands was missing when he flew back after the wedding, it did turn up 5 days later. Their reason was the plane was full so they had to leave some luggage behind and sent it on later

I am considering a dyson vacum. I have been doing a bit of research, they all seem good. I am planning to get an upright that does everything and considering the DC59, I don`t have pets but do have dust allergies. If you have personally used an upright dyson, which model do you recommend. I always had Dysons but stopped buying when I came here as they are so expensive and I managed to break my UK one :-( I bought the Hoover Airforce pets one which was considerably cheaper than a Dyson and personally I feel it is a much better hoover than the Dyson. If I were to buy another Dyson then it would be the DC65 however the shops here don't stock all the brands as Europe etc would

Hello All, I recently adopted two small dogs, who are still at the puppy stage and I need a part-time maid to visit my apartment once a week-day in the afternoon, ideally anytime between 12 - 2, to feed the dogs and play with them for about an hour. This would ideally be suited to anyone currently giving in the greens or tecom as a live-in maid or someone who regularly visits the area to work. If anyone can recommend someone this would be appreciated. Thank you, Lois Hi I don't think anyone will recommend someone as a live in maid cannot do work on the side By employing her you could incur her sponsor a 50k fine and deportation. Be aware that maids working illegally are being found out in the Greens ( 2 were pulled out of my building a month ago and taken away for working illegally) I too live in the greens and it just isn't worth it The maid belongs to the sponsor not herself if that makes sense

Does anyone know if coconut powder and coconut flour is the same thing, or can be used the same - as I found coconut powder in Spinneys, but not sure if it is the right/same stuff? Thanks Hi I don't think it is the same. Coconut powder is mixed with milk whereas flower can be used in cakes, muffins etc. They do sell the flour here but it is sooooo expensive!! Dubai - hasn't done this for years. I have been desperately waiting for it :( 2012 was the last time. One of the senior police guys said they wont reduce them due to the amount of reckless driving and deaths. The traffic was horrendous this morning and there was a bad crash near where I live. Everyone is back :-(

Afternoon ladies Does anyone know where in Dubai I can buy Kerastase Elixir Ultime shampoo & conditioner? Really wanted to get hold of the big pump action bottles that they use in salons. I have ordered a litre bottle from Strawberry.net, they don't come with the pumps though so you will have to either get hold of some or use it directly from the bottle I will let you know if mine arrives. It only costs 320AED and free shipping whereas when I did mange to buy them from a salon here years ago they were 600AED a bottle Jet Set do the 250ml bottles as does Roots salons
