5)grocery or food delivery Hi and welcome There isn't really a food delivery service in Dubai, any kind of takeaway yep, but grocery shopping nope. Try Geant online and if you search on here there are a few others now too Really! Good to know - but I don't know anyone that does it, the popular western supermarkets - Waitrose and Spinneys don't offer it! Never actually used it myself, but I know of a number of people who really rate Geant for their delivery service Trolley.ae

Not sure what you are worried about. I find less bugs in Dubai than in uk, def less spiders etc. Conkers in the corners of the rooms help deter spiders in the UK Apparently they don't like them or so my friend says. It was the slugs and snails I hated after the rain eugh

You sound hysterical. What bug are you talking about? I'd rather to sound hysterical.. I've been reading the forum and some more info via internet, especially roaches and big bugs? Aren't? Really? in 8 years I have seen one roach and it was tiny, never seen any big bugs here???? bugs are sucking things so which ones are you referring too?

I bargained for my Omega in Dubai and got it slightly cheaper than the UK Just a word of warning for any services or battery changes DO not do them here, mine stopped after 3 years and they told me it needed a service at 1200AED, I took it to an Omega servicing place in the UK and they said it only needs a battery which cost me 15GBP! slight difference there

I would be careful hiring part time maids I live in the Greens and our building was raided a few weeks ago by the municipality, a couple of maids were taken away. Not only will they be deported but their sponsor will incur a 50k fine in the bargain. I would not trust anyone who isn't sponsored by me or an agency. What if they committed a crime i.e stole from you. You do know that if you went to the police you would be in trouble too for hiring them illegally

Hi, We are moving in on 27th July to a house in The Lakes and I desperately need suggestions for 1)curtains & curtain rods (shop or home service)reasonable prices 2)nurseries/toddler groups nearby(have 2 yr old) 3)water canister delivery info 4)part time cleaner 5)grocery or food delivery Also if anyone lives in the lakes and would like to meet up, we would really appreciate it. I have a 2 boys - 7yrs & 2yrs , we are a Scottish/Indian family. Cheers - Susanna [email protected] Current rods Ikea at Festival City Can't help with nurseries For part time maids you need to use an agency do not employ one that belongs to another family or pushes notes through your door ( Illegal) Water, the three main suppliers that people like tend to be Masafi, Falcon and Nestle you can Google them all for their phone numbers

I use Masafi no issues and there truck is a Masafi one :-) i had major issue wiht masafi actually delivering for me... hence the change. Ah I see, they come every Monday to us and if there isn't an empty bottle outside they continually ring the doorbell till I answer :-)

We have lived on the Ranches for a year and a half and have had a daily delivery of 7Days but we noticed on Sunday there was no paper and again none today. Does anyone know what has happened??! I actually read it and am missing it as it keeps me updated with what's going on. I've picked up some good events to go to from reading it too so I'm quite disappointed now! Its stopped I think until the end of August We usually get it in our building but from Sunday no more You can read the online copy

Hi, I am looking for a professional nanny to spend few hours with my 3 year old son until I come back from work (2 pm till 6 pm or so) He goes to nursery in the morning and comes back home at 2. I am looking for someone who can keep talking to Michael and engage him in activities and teach him things. Do you know someone who can offer that in Dubai Marina? edited by marooooo on 17/07/2014 Hello, you will need to either sponsor one yourself to live out ( Expensive) or use a reputable agency to provide or help find you one. I think the agencies will provide on a minimum of 3-4 hours but be aware most are just maids and not actual nannies. Perhaps one of the other ladies can suggest an agency

Hi Girls, I've just found out that i am 4 weeks pregnant and now i am looking for a good obstetrician to follow up the evolution of my pregnancy and delivery. I've got an uterine septum and I know I've got a high risk of miscarriage on the 2nd trimester. That's why I am very scared and I need an extremely good doctor, specialized in high risk pregnancies. Looking forward to receiving your recommendations. Cheers, N Healthbay polyclinic 3 of my friends have recently used them and said the care was fantastic I don't know if they deal with high risk but most of their staff are European

I would be worried in case something happened to them in my house. Accident etc or if something was damaged / stolen and you had employed them illegally. I know most of them will be careful, but I would be constantly worried in case they didn't lock up properly or one of the cats got out and they couldn't get it back in while they were there. I wouldn't want to be responsible for anyone's pet I looked after my friends cat earlier in the year and spent the entire time fretting she may of got out when I wasn't in? I constantly checked and double checked she was in the house :-)

Hi ladies, hope someone can give me advice. I moved into a new apartment last February with 2 cheques (so my second cheque is due in August) but I want to terminate my lease early (now!). Since April I've been putting up with a foul smell in my bathroom coming from the roof, like a stagnant dirty water smell. The maintenance guys have been in so many times to check and say they'll come back (they do it almost every week). I've got emails to the bldg management going back to April complaining about it but they're useless. In my contract one of the clauses states that the landlord is under no liability to the tenant for any loss, damage, inconvenience etc, unless it is proven satisfactory that the tenant has suffered caused by gross negligence on the landlord's part... Do you think my emails are enough? I want to give them an ultimatum kind of like "please fix it by end of July or else I will terminate the contract early". And hopefully won't have to pay a penalty of a couple months because it is not my fault!! Thanks in advance for your advice. I'm new-ish to Dubai and living alone so not sure how to go about these things! If you terminate early then how will you get your cheque back? You cannot cancel/stop it therefore they can just cash it as proposed. If you terminate early you usually have to forfeit 2 months rent. I would try and reason with the LL to fix the problem or speak to the rent committee as they deal with tenant/LL issues

First of all: if your reply is: that's not allowed here... avoid replying... I'm looking for a place (1bdr), close to the metro, from mid/end of August until mid/end October and I was wondering if any of you knows someone that might have a place available for that period. Thanks! Have you looked on Just Rentals, I think there are some shares on there

For some people, the Baby on Board sticker should have the following added to it: .......... So keep out of my way as I am texting whilst driving and I obviously won't see you and because I am a complete idiot I need to rely on all other drivers to give me a wide berth to keep my children safe. Also I paid a flipping fortune for this massive posh car and didn't want to spoil the illusion of grandeur by putting in car seats for my kids so they are on the loose in the back and will most certainly fly through the windscreen like projectiles and therefore ruin my day. Saying that, my kids are not as important to me as the person I am texting right now. Rant over. Love it!

Sorry to pinch your thread, OP! But can anyone recommend a good dry cleaner near The Greens? I took some bits once to the guy in the small Geant, and I promise you, at least 3 of my items were NOT TOUCHED because they still had all the various little splashes of food stains etc on them and they felt as soft/worn as they were when I dropped them off. I didn't check the items straight away and ended up leaving it far too long to go back to him and complain, unfortunately >:-( I use Champions in the Greens village shops Never had an issue and they have cleaned all sorts of items from dresses to duvets
