Thr r so many bad drivers (private and taxis) here. I'm always wondering why the gov't hasn't made it mandatory yet for road safety? Nevermind the drivers with "Baby on Board stickers" driving like loonies!

When I have dealt with limited contracts in the past employees have had to pay back 45 days salary and received a 6 month immigration ban This one a few years ago so it may of changed

They send different people every time. I know I am stupid for just leaving the key and letting them get on with it but I cannot stay in all day and supervise them cleaning. Really fed up :( You aren't stupid at all You should be able to leave your belongings out and not expect them to of grown legs and walked whilst you were out. There is no excuse for theft If you are absolutely sure they have been stolen and you have turned the house upside down then I would go to the agency in person and ask if you could speak with the maid in question

Can anyone suggest someone for me please. I'm off for an MRI tomorrow as my current doctor says I have rotator/cuff problems and an impingement. He thinks that there could also be a spurr of bone catching the tendon!!! my colleague has a Slap Tear and rotator cuff problem which impinges on the tendon He had 2 detatched tendons which they cut out and screwed something He had the op with DR Harold and now with the physio Thanks a million, just what I wanted to hear - not :( Sorry :-(

Yes - just before your husband sends his passport off for the visa from his company to be cancelled he will need to cancel yours. You will be given the normal amount of time on a tourist visa before having to reapply. You may need a visa run in between! There is a way to put yours and the children's visa on hold whilst he transitions to his new one For this you will need a letter from Husbands new company in Arabic stating that they are offering him a job and confirm that they will apply for his visa. You do need to speak with immigration though regarding this One of my candidates is doing this at present, that is the only reason I know

Don't stress about it and I would just deal with it when you get to the UK. Unlike here, you won't be arrested at the airport, lol I think the worst case scenario is that they will have added further penalties for non-payment. DH got a speeding ticket when we were there a few years ago but we didn't know about it until we were back here. We cooperated with the UK police and were quite willing to pay the fine, but in the end they said 'forget it'. I am just worried as I have seen this now that you should not be driving on your UK license now if you have been living out of the country for over one year and should use your UAE license....lol, I was stressing that I would be arrested at the airport ;-/ And, also the address is registered at my mums old address and she is no longer there.....How long had your DH ticket been outstanding before you contacted them? They wont arrest you for a speeding fine Just call them when you get back and explain what has happens feign ignorance regarding not knowing you cannot drive on a UK licence when you are a non resident and tell them your friend wrote to them but did not receive a reply

How come I've got the longest day :( no need to brag love ;) hahahaha are you in a free zone? techinically you are not allowed to work more than 6 hours in ramadan unless you're in a freezone i guess.. DIFC 09:00 - 18:00 :( DIFC is the only entity that doesn't have to give all staff Ramadan hours It is only for fasting persons

My flight has been scheduled to leave from Al Maktoum airport instead of Dubai International, has anyone been through AM airport recently, are there any facilities open there during Ramadan and how does it compare as with DIA generally in terms of check in and ease of everything. TIA My best friend has been using Maktoum for months now, going back to her home country to prepare for her wedding. She said ease of access is very good and you can use your E Gate card there. Everywhere is open too

Hi, I just wanted to get some advise. I borrowed a friends car in Dec last year and she was sent a speeding ticket that I got, she wrote to them as I my address had change and inform then it should be on my license. She wrote to them twice and I still have not heard anything, I am now worried as its been over six months. I am returning to the UK in a few weeks, do anyone know what sort of trouble can you get into for not paying a ticket for so long? And, I never changed my address....all my own fault but stressing about it. I had no points on my license before. I would call the DVLA in the UK

Sadly we are way behind here when it comes to part time & flexible working hours & time. But especially for new mother's, the maternity leave is shocking and then returning to work, doesn't leave many people much choice. This is where the UAE could learn a lot from the UK Yes I agree, my sister had her baby in the UK last September and I had mine in March...we are both due back to work at the same time...I have actually extended my maternity and now sitting at home on unpaid vacation! My neice was given 9 months off paid and now is back 3 days at week ( In UK)

Hi all, any advice/hints/tips on where I can find a part time job? I am currently on maternity leave from my current employer and due to return to work in August. HR have advised me that there are no part time opportunities available to me so I either return or resign! I really don't want to go back to work on a full time basis but would be happy to do something part time to keep my mind active...I have a degree in HR Business Management and 12 years aviation experience...thoughts, suggestions please? Thanks x Speaking from experience ( 8 years) in Dubai, part time roles rarely come up Have you checked the job forum on here? The schools are other places to look I have worked on 2 part time roles in 8 years. They are like unicorns! I get people to get me them from the airport at Heathrow when they come over .. Most ive paid is 110 quid.. the least amount ive paid is 90 quid. I have one at home, one in the office , one in the car.. you never know ! One for every eventuality haha

I think the legalities of doing this in the UAE are difficult Maids ( Who generally take care of children) and are from Non European countries are on certain visas. I think a European person would have to be on a company visa ( Meaning you or Husband would have to own a company in order to sponsor her)

I finally have a chance to get a GHD straightener from the UK thru some friends traveling. I know they can ship here, but am trying to get the best bargain and not have to pay any extra costs. Whats the best place to order/buy on in the UK? Is the actual GHD website the best price or is there another place? Thanks ladies! We are thinking of downtown area any clubs there ? Are they expensive ? Meydan would be the closest to downtown (as far as i know) DH isn't a fan of golfing there as its only a 9 hole course. Al Badia is also not too far, I believes its quite pricey tho. Compared to back home all golf courses here are outrageously expensive. There are plenty two for ones in the entertainer tho. DH plays in RAK and Sharjah a lot at the weekends as its much cheaper. Emirates course would be close to Downtown my colleague also plays in RAK as it is expensive in Dubai as you say

Is this as difficult as one hears? We need to sell our car and motor shops offer a ridiculous price for it but have heard stories that selling a car privately is a nightmare. Any advice on this? Thanks My colleague has privately sold all of his cars( he does this every 3 years) He has never had any issues with private sales

I have some pieces of furniture to get rid of (not top condition but not bad) and I would like to give them to a good home, does anyone know of any animal charities or other charities that would collect and take them. Someone suggested 'Take my junk' but I was told that they aren't a charity and I would prefer to benefit a non profit organization. I do however need the items to be collected as I won't be able to transport them. Any ideas? Input charities into the search post above there are lots of posts on this subject I read the title of this post to mean "you want an animal to come and collect your furniture" haha

All I saw was a legal notice, I cacked myself! before I read it properly My LL did ring the place where she had the notice prepared and she complained as she felt it should of been placed in an envelope. Aramex weren't interested in the complaint as they said this is the legal way it is served

I got home last night and found a document signed before the Notary Public stating that the LL wanted his villa back to live in and giving us a years notice. The document was just stuck to my front door with tape. I thought it had to be served by registered post. Is this suficieint for me to have to leave in a year? Hi The same happened to me and it is legal. They don't have to have a signature or proof of receipt ( I checked this out with the RC) like myself you will have to leave after 12 months I wasn't happy that all my details including passport number etc was there for all the world to see I called Aramex but they said this is the norm for Notary Public deliveries from the government department who deals with this edited by sarahlou123 on 01/07/2014 <em>edited by sarahlou123 on 01/07/2014</em>

Wow thanks ladies for looking up prices and making that extra effort! Preferably I only want to pay 300 to 400dhs, will keep looking and might try the lady at Mazaya centre if I don't find any deals down Marina way before the 8th. :) My friend said she didn't like the T&T ones at all and the Mazaya lady was better You may need to call her as she isn't in the Mazaya Center itself but next to it ( Lost in translation)

Hi, Does anyone know if you still get 10 days grace on the tourist visa on a British passport? So 30 days, plus the extra 10 or is it strictly 30 days from entry? Thanks I believe you still get the 10 days grace period ( 1st renewal only)
