i have never heard that.... i have heard that westerners / non muslims (not exclusive) are "expected" to work normal hours..... It is actually law in all places except the DIFC that non fasting Muslims get Ramadan hours The MOL released this in the media and if they do work longer hours they can report the companies http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/employment/reduced-work-hours-in-uae-for-ramadan-1.1047627 it may be law.... but often it is frowned upon and westerners are "expected" to work normal hours. We aren't :-)

Hello, I know there are a lot of threads about this, but most of them are over a year old and a lot of the places suggested (such as the places in MOE) don't do mobile phone unlocking any more. Everyone I ask just says "Deira. Go to Deira." But where in Deira?! I'd really appreciate a recommendation (i.e. Name/location of the shop) of somewhere that someone has actually been to and had first hand experience of having their phone unlocked, instead of just mooching around random shops without a clue about whether or not they're the real deal and going to do the work and not rip me off! *And breathe...* So, has anyone actually had a successful mobile phone unlocking done in Deira? Definitely a wander through Raffles Hotel, then pop upstairs to the Long Bar for a drink and monkey nuts. Shells are thrown on the floor, it's a tradition! I loved it there

when it first opened it was great but the last time was shocking, cant check in until 3 and all the restaurants were fully booked got the worse rooms with Groupon as well we have booked a good deal with our agent for Banyan tree and the all inclusive in Hilton next door much better value;-) My friend had a mare too. The fridge and lights in the room didn't work They were told it was free WIFI which is wasn't, they were upgraded to a room facing the road when they had requested a sea view They couldn't book a restaurant as it was full and the mini bar was supposed to be free and there was about 2 bottles and a can of coke in the fridge She vowed never to go there again

Hi all, I don t know about the uk as I m swiss. I m also pregnant n due in November. I moved for the same reasons u mentioned plus the medical care back home is much better than in the uae. I flew to Geneva 2months ago n went to register myself as a resident. I told them I back n done all paper regarding my medical insurance n started visiting a new doc without any issues. I m eligible for all medical care free just paying my monthly primes,there is no waiting period or whatsoever they request in dubai.n when I want to go back I still have my residency in dubai. The UK works differently than Switzerland

I really need to start watching more TV ;) You have lots of pets and a DH . There is only me to look after ha :-) Tell me about it. Last week was a breeze. Watched loads of old Greys Anatomy episodes, walked the dogs late and to cap it all I lost over 2lbs :) I love Greys, I am going to start Desperate Housewives again too

18 k gold today is approx. 114 dhs/gram. Factor around 2 grams for the pendant + the making price, maybe 200 dhs, that leads to no less than 400 dhs, if you don't need the chain. Most of the places I checked offer packages for children, but we're going to be mostly moms and babies. We don't have a function room otherwise it could have been a solution. Great thanks I'll try there then if not I'll go with the other recommendation. Just had a Miele before so know they're great. I hated my dyson in uk it was rubbish! Was only when borrowed my mums Miele I switched over. They could vac a tornado up they're that powerful!! My hoover lifts a heavy rug off the floor :-)

Has anyone tried No.7 by Boots. It was recommended on both "The Drs." and "The Talk" and it is cheap :) I have been using it the past couple of months, I think it works but the lighting here is so bad it is hard to see. :) edited by missush60 on 16/06/2014 I didn't notice any difference with it at all :-(

Thank you for your response! what about kids living there we have a 13 yr old. is there a pool near by or a gym? All the buildings have pools and gyms and they empty them to do maintenance every year I live in the Views so they are slightly newer than the Greens buildings ( Same area though) It is full of children/teenagers Which buildings are you looking at? <em>edited by sarahlou123 on 16/06/2014</em>

Roaming data with Etisalat is extortionate. I was charged several hundred dirhams for just a few minutes on email....I was shocked. It might be a pain, but it is significantly cheaper to get local sims wherever you are and then you can relax and enjoy your trip without getting ripped off. I have been wondering about sims for other countries, do you also need to have a data plan in these countries? I would imagine so, I have a UK sim and have to activate the data plan to use it there

Things that actually work 1) Retinols of all kinds (retin A being the best no longer available in Dubai. I moved on to differin which is a lot more gentle, but not as effective) 2) AHAs and BHAs (these are exfoliants. I prefer BHAs myself) 3) suncreams and antioxidant serums (100% physical sunscreen is better as it doesn't break down) 4) copper peptides. Need to be kept in the fridge Generally I recommend Paula's Choice and Skinactives (they do a great antioxidant serum that's just $25) Other things that work 1) Low sugar, low alcohol diet 2) microneedling 3) fraxel and similar lasers (fractional lasers) 4) RF, but it's a mild effect 5) Ulthera (hurts like a b*tch apparently) 6) chemical peels My friend had Fraxel and she said it wasn't worth the money By the time the swelling subsided she said her skin looked no different :-(

So I've decided I want this brand again, my last one at home was amazing and I found dysons rubbish but just wondered if anyone had seen them to buy here? I'd love the cat and dog one but know that is stretching my request a bit far! Sure I've seen their sign driving round but can't for the life of me remember where!! I have the Hoover Airforce pets one It is the best hoover I have ever had ( Used to be a fan of Dysons) The lead is long, suction is amazing and it cost a 1/3 of the Dyson There is a Miele showroom on SZR so perhaps they sell them <em>edited by sarahlou123 on 16/06/2014</em>

Hi Sarah, indeed i have- a few infact! i have tried eating for my blood type, food elimination diets , colonic hydrotherapy , pills for my thyroid ,hypnotherapy, subliminal tapes - the list goes on- nothing! diet and exercise should work and trust me ive tried it all. im not going to say "i dont eat but im fat' that would be a lie but at the same time i dont eat huge meals each and every day. i love salty savory things- not a fan of sweets- i just dont get it! my weight used to average 54kg up until i reached around my mid 20's then it was like a bomb exploded inside of me and i just grew and grew despite my efforts. im at my wits end. Obalon would be a solution since there is no surgery involved but im not sure if its available here- next option would be a gastric balloon inserted through the mouth {also non surgical} and if that ALSO DOESNT WORK- last option is surgery for me! edited by Vintaysia1980 on 15/06/2014 edited by Vintaysia1980 on 15/06/2014 I don't think it the size of the portions more what you are eating Atkins etc are diets which can mess up your metabolism put your body into starvation mode so you don't lose weight. I know you are probably disheartened but unless it is medical I imagine combining health eating plus exercise the weight would fall off Check out Weight Watchers and Slimming World, people have lost half their body weight on there I had friends who weighed a lot more than you do and they both were on the above plans and have lost nearly all the weight and kept it off If you do have to go down the gastric band or balloon route, seek a reputable medical professional for this.. Have you been to see a DR regarding the weight? You said you have done diets and been to the gym however these did not work Could there be another issue thyroid etc? I am a British nurse living and working in Dubai...does anyone know if there are any hospitals or clinics that are willing to employ nurses on a part-time/ bank or causal contract. Its so hard to have a work /family life balance on these current working hours and shifts...any suggestions would be great. Thanks. I can't answer on part time hours as I imagine all roles are full time What about applying to a school as a nurse as the hours may be better? bank and casual working wont be available here as I don't think it is legal

My parents were always firm but fair Being the youngest of 3 girls, they paved the way for me and my Mum gave me more leeway than they ever got. I was allowed to attend certain parties etc but there had to be an adult present and they collected me ( Mum used to hide around the corner so not to ruin my street cred lol) As Horizon said Mum was Mum and I loved her but we weren't friends if that made sense I never snuck out although my Sister did on several occasions Thankfully I had a trusting relationship and could talk to Mum about anything I lived in a small quiet village and we had a spate of girls being followed home by a guy who turned out to be a rapist. I did feel hard done by sometimes as many of friends could stay out late etc but looking back I am glad she was fair
