Have they worked out what matches will be shown when? And in what languages? We had a wretched time trying to find out this info a month ago when we phoned to book the package. NO ONE seemed to know what games would be in English, French, Arabic, Portuguese or what; the various people we spoke to simply kept repeating that they would show 'all the games'. I'm sorry, but on all the evidence we've had to date -- we have the BeIN sports package via du -- this bunch couldn't organise themselves out of a wet paper bag, and while we'll no doubt buy the World Cup Package anyway, we don't hold out high hopes for it being very well managed. I hope we're proven wrong, but time will tell, I guess. :( Thanks for the info though. I never thought of that considering they don't show all the premier team matches ( At 3pm) here It will be interesting to see if they get it right!

Thanks for your replies i'll try get in touch with some salons Maybe I could just do it part time for some exrtra money A bit of a different question do you know roughly how much I should budget for an appartment or even a house share if they are allowed? Trying to work out what salary I would need if applying for an office job. Also are office jobs easy to get for a female or would I find it a struggle carrying on with my career as a buyer or anything along those lines? www.justrentals.com will give you an idea on the cost of rent Thanks Office roles are not easy to come by unless you have both UK and UAE experience ( The latter is preferred and bear in mind you will be competing with lots of other nationalities including Arabic speakers) who have UAE experience The rents have become expensive of late you may be looking at a minimum of 5000AED to share an apartment in a decent area Dubai is a great place to live and you can live frugally at a push but personally I prefer to be able to go and out a spend a bit and save some too edited by sarahlou123 on 05/06/2014

Many apartments and villas have been 'on the market' for quite a while and landlords are often open to offers, it really is worth a go. Historically I think rents go up in October as availability reduces. The apartment next to me and has been empty for months The LL refuses to reduce the rent. Well not all landlords have brains!!!! I know haha

I think the maintenance depends on the LL, some LL will cover maintenance others not If the villa is bigger than the apartment then the cost of DEWA may increase and housing aswell due to the cost

Thank you all very much. Well I bought a few dresses out with me, and wore them and it was good to feel that in no way was I causing anybody any offence, but I have to say I was in the minority!! Dubai felt nothing like it did when I last visited there a few years ago... I went out to an extremely posh restaurant one evening and I swear I was the ONLY woman not wearing a dress that was above the knee. The only one! So while, when we move out there I will be much more modest during Ramadan and in the day time, I really will relax a little on an evening. I was massively too hot when we went walking along 'The Walk' on another evening and would have much preferred to wear something a little less covered up! Not scanty, but just a little shorter would have been much more comfortable for me. I saw massive extremes far the other way, which just seemed provocative and inappropriate, but on the whole, I was surprised how very different Dubai felt to me this time. And I am super excited about moving now :-) I wear a lot of linen and maxi dresses which are quite billowy and never get too hot The cotton dresses with a short sleeved cardi or pashmina are very cool to wear in the Summer months

I have been with the company 3 years. If it says 3 months in the contract they could enforce it and make you work the notice. If you leave before then, then they could dock 2 months out of the gratuity. I would ask them for a compromise so that you get your full EOSB I would call the MOL

Can anybody help? My job has turned into a total nightmare & I want to resign and go back to the UK. My contract says I should give 3 months notice but the PRO has told me as it's an unlimited contract I only have to give 30 days notice. Is this true? I would love to give only 30 days notice. thanks The contract that is lodged at the MOL will say 30 days however the copy you have may state 3 months . How long have you been with the company? If you are entitled to gratuity then they could withhold that if you leave at the 30 day point, if not just tell them you are giving 30 days notice and leave edited by sarahlou123 on 05/06/2014

Hello Myself and 2 kids will be joining my husband in August/September when we have rented our house out and have packed the container. I have a few questions that would very much appreciate if answered- - we have been told to bring over loads of good coffee, is this a true statement? - did anyone being over perishables in their container? - is hired help available quite easily, by that I mean people who will assist with the moving? Many thanks. What do you mean by good coffee? Coffee is a plenty here Cannot help with the rest although when I travel I bring food back and have never been stopped

Hi We are in the process of getting our maid's visa transferred to us. We agreed that we would pay for her to go home once a year and that her first trip would be at Christmas even though she will not have been working for us for a full year by then. Her previous employer refused to pay for her trip back as the husband was made redundant so she hasn't been home for about 5 years. We are expecting a second baby in November so the timing is rubbish but we are sticking to our word as it doesn't seem fair for her to miss out on her trip home. I've heard that that maids are entitled to 30 days holiday a year. She's said she wants to go home for 20 days and then spend 10 days resting in Dubai (she lives out). Bearing in mind that she won't have been with us for a full year and the new baby situation, would I be unreasonable asking her to come back to work straight away and taking the additional 10 days later in the year when the baby is older and we've got into a rhythm of dealing with sleepless nights, school drop off for our older child etc? Is there a rule that it has to be 30 consecutive days? I don't think there is a rule that the days have to be consecutive and in 7 Days newspaper this week it says annual leave is only 14 days! However I think most people give 30 days A lot of maids and other employees take their entire entitlement in one go. It does tend to be a nationality thing

The 45 dollars is a sign up fee for life If you buy a lot online, as I do it works out cheaper than buying it from Dubai or direct from other countries. If it is a one off then it would be cheaper to pay 100 dollars as once you sign up with Aramex you then pay the weight of the item to be shipped I hope this makes sense I just want to order one wig. :) So let me get this clear, the $45 is for life... Does this mean I don't have to pay them *any* service charge when I place orders from them? Just the shipping? But the shipping isn't exactly cheap! I order clothes in bulk from the UK and still save money ( with shipping compared to the shops here) Now I imagine a wig wont weight too much but you can input the weight on the Aramex website and it will tell you the cost. You only pay for shipping and customs if the parcel is more than a certain amount cost wise ( Its quite high)

DS' passport has just been delivered by DHL, received by IPS Liverpool on the 17th April - phew! Just need the old passport and docs to be returned now. Got an update this morning following the email I made to say that it's being checked and could take 6 weeks - not very organised are they? Good to hear someone is getting their passport back! Mine was received by them on 3rd April and still saying not even been looked at. I think it's clear that the info on their systems is not up to date at all. My mum's MP called her back and his secretary is now contacting the passport office on my behalf. Lets see if that gets anywhere. My neighbor is trying to do her babies at present She was told by someone in the UK that they have cleared the backlog now so that should speed things up?? I don't know if this is true though Please tell her not to do it now if she wants to travel anywhere soon! There appears to be a MASSIVE backlog. I've been waiting nearly 9 weeks for mine. I did mention this website and the time it is taking

I've always used a travel agency to book our maid's return ticket for holidays but I'm wondering whether I could do it online since it's for someone else of a different surname? Has anyone done this either directly with the airline or through a flight comparison website? Thanks. I tried to do it through Emirates ( For a friend) with a different surname and when it came to pay it wouldn't let me. I did the payment through Paypal and that worked

So how do you know they weren't scouting out the place to come back at a later date and break in? I'd rather waste police time and know that I tried to do something, than regret it later. Or they may step up and steal valuable items from another person

Oh that's terrible. Never leave anyone unattended in your home. I bet they probably do this to alot of people. Lesson learnt, I may have had a lucky escape as I was alone at the time, just in case anyone else is selling and has a contact from these people, a lady will call and turns up at the door with baby in arms accompanied by two men, do not let them in, their mobile number ends in 645. edited by Di@DXB on 04/06/2014 Call the cops...... As AnonDubai said, I don't feel it best to get involved with these people again, they know where I live. All the more reason to call the police

Ours just has one of his staff threaten you with the fact that it will be sold to a family member and you have 12 months notice!! Haha In one and out the other DH is at screaming point. He could have had the cheques at the right time if the contracts and contact hadn't been so ridiculous. We're now without a current contract and he's off to Erbil next week. Would have preferred it all sorted before then. This will be me next year.. Happy days NOT

It seems to be happening more to people who've been in the same property for a few years. We're paying exactly what RERA says, but obviously not what new tenants are paying, so all these little things are just to try and get more money out of us. I had that from the LL, the apartment is now worth blah blah blah. My reply was " yes that is why the one next door has been empty for 3 months" and " you did okay getting what you did from me during a recession, plus who would pay that for a one bed?

Just wondering if anyone has been to Loft Beauty Salon and can offer any feedback - I am trying to find a new hairdresser that can do blonde highlights (keep ending up with brassy orange look...) Thank you :) Try Donna at Roots Barsha she does mine and I am blonde, most other salons ended up bleaching it ( it fell out) or used the wrong colours and it was brassy. I would be careful when it comes to blonde as many hairdressers here don't have experience with blondes and get it horribly wrong

I think a lot of LL are now using one of the tenancy clauses which says that if a cheque bounces they can charge you an extra 10% to replace it. They are using missmatched sigantures as a way of getting more money! Ours has tried to put an extra two clauses in our new contract, one which says that if we don't have the receipt for the deposit we won't get it back and another that says if we have any sort of problems with a cheque he can charge us 1% of the value of the cheque. Haven't a clue what that means. We also have the standard 10% extra to pay if a cheque "bounces". edited by Geordie expat on 03/06/2014 I wouldn't sign it. Tell him if it bounces ( which it wont) you will send it through the bank as I did. Cheeky so and so Don't worry it's gone back to him - yet again! At least he'd taken the non-renewable clause out this time. We thought he would be sensible this time as we've decreased the number of cheques, but no. If we don't hear anything by the end of the month the cheques are going to RERA and then it's out of our hands. If a cheque returns the onus is on you not him. They don't half make me laugh

2000AED to raise a new cheque! That is almost 340GBP that is horrific When mine returned due to signature irregularity I just did it through the bank direct, no charges were levied. Who do you bank with as I have never seen costs that high for a bounced/returned cheque Its not the bank that charge anything, that is Nakheel administration charge for me to submit payment to them in place of the cheque. My bank do not charge anything. Wow that it still shocking

I will be honest and the Office Manager roles paying 20k rarely come up anymore Companies will utilize administrators etc for half that cost. Not like the good old days of 2007 when we used to see their salaries at 25-40k If I do hear of anything I will let you know
