Try Carol Smylie at Mirdif. Is she a Gynae? :-) No, but she still deals with this. That is great to know. Thanks :-)

Hi Everyone Has anyone had a IUD replaced in Dubai? Experience? In Korea it was inserted in less than 5 min, no anesthesia or anything - it was very painful, but also over quickly. I know in certain countries they give sedation of sorts - would love to hear about drs and their ways re this in Dubai. Thanks! I would see any of the gynaes at Healthbay Polyclinic They come highly recommended

Hi I am going to KoL on Wed night at Atlantis. I have never been to concert there before and just wondered about logistics..... Is it usually really busy to pick up tickets if you booked online? How early would you get there? Does anyone have any insight on when band would be on stage and when concert would likely wrap up? I want to book a car to take me home afterwards.... Thanks so much :) Easy to collect tickets from the booth there I would get there a minimum of an hour before I have no clue what time they are due on stage though. They do have a FB page and answer questions pretty rapidly if you message them

It would be nice to just to have a carrerfour hypermarket in another location. The main reason I ever go to MOE is for Carrefour. They have one in MCC and Deira City Centre

I find shopping stressful by default. Changing rooms make me claustrofobic lol. And the hassle of trying stuff on..... Don't - just take home and hope.... If it doesn't fit return it - too much hassle to try on in stores. Not recommended here with the miserable and customer unfriendly returns policies in most stores. I agree, MOE is a nightmare to get into, get out of and to find parking. I park right on the top. I went last night and the parking was empty

I don't mean to sound rude but unless in an emergency why do people leave it until the last minute to apply as I believe you can do it 9 months prior to expiration? Well in my case I applied a good 4 months before travel date which normally would be more than enough time. It has never taken 9 weeks before from here, something has changed with the efficiency since they moved from Germany to Liverpool. I didn't realise it took 9 weeks or more :-(

Went to two different Spinneys and no prepared pie crusts in the frozen section. Can anyone recommend the best one and where to find? Needed for a pumpkin pie. I don't think I have ever seen them here. Hopefully other posters can help

Hi ladies has anyone has this surgery with Dr Rezai or Dr Jaffer Khan in Dubai? Upper and lower eyelid/eye bag surgery? Thanks in advance.. edited by Jetset on 24/05/2014 I believe dr khan is a specialist in this. I don't know anyone that has had this done though I used him for other procedures and would definitely use him again

Not legal and rent committee will tell u that All rents have to be inline with the rent calculator and he cannot predict it will be that amount next year. Personally I wouldn't sign it and he can only ask you to vacate next year with 12 months notice for valid reasons. They are trying it on every underhand way they can! Tell him to amend contract by removing the 120 or he can open a case with rent committee next yr! edited by sarahlou123 on 24/05/2014

Hi This will be our first summer here as a family. I was actually raised in Dubai for 18years but went to the UK for over a decade and now back here with my husband and kids. I am aware of how to respect Ramadan as an adult, but I wanted to know what to do with my children. There are young (4+1). Are playgroups and cafés still open? Is it ok to give them water and snacks when in public or the car, or would you try where possible to only do it at home? I hope I'm not coming across as disrespectful or ignorant, I just really don't remember my time here before and I don't want to do anything that comes across as insensitive. Thank you A lot of cafes and food outlets will be closed however I am sure admin will publish a list of places that are open during the day. My understanding is that children can be fed and watered in public during the holy month.

It's the parents who deserve a slap if they subject their unruly kids to the general public without disciplining them verbally....just sat in school cafeteria whilst 2 kids kicked and headed a ball to each other bouncing it off the tables, chairs and walls......parents sat nearby and not once did they verbally say a thing to them and I'm not sure if I was more annoyed with boys or their mothers! In my opinion I can smack my children (but I don't - a look is generally enough or a verbal warning) but I would be very unhappy if someone else smacked them. I do expect my children to be verbally disciplined by someone if they're in someone else's home or annoying them maybe in a public place when I'm not there but no no-one should be slapping them! There is a young boy in my buildings who screams expletives at his Mum and on occasion we have witnessed him kicking her. She stands there and does nothing!

My family home in the UK has been rented out for 6 years. We recently became aware that the rent was about 15 percent below the market rate. As the current tenant has been there for 2 years with no rent increase, we proposed a renewal rate with increase of about 7 percent. As she has been fairly trouble free, we didn't want to ramp it up too much. She says that she can't afford any increase at all, no negotiation. Though the figures are fairly small by Dubai standards, over the course of a year it adds up. Added to which, it would make us look like complete push-overs if we accepted this. On the other side of the coin, we would need to re-decorate etc for a new tenant, and could have the property empty for a short time (not likely to be for long). What would you do? I can honestly say I have never increased the rent on my property in 8 years I know I can get more however the tenant I have is fabulous and she looks after the place as if it where her own. I hear to many horror stories of tenants trashing places that I would rather keep her in there. If the current tenant cannot afford an increase and you want more then the only solution is to give her notice and get a new one Good Luck!

We are looking for a part time maid, Someone who is available for a few hours each day and maybe some weekends in the eve. We have two children, a 22 months old girl and a 7 week old baby girl. We will require help with baby sitting and cleaning and maybe some cooking. The person will need to speak good english and be confident around children. This is a live out position so it would be great if someone has their own accommodation and a visa. Please message for any details. Thank You Hi You will have to either sponsor a maid yourself or use an agency, any other way is illegal and they are clamping down on illegal maids. I doubt you want to end up getting her deported and incurring a 50k fine. Maids don't have their own visas as they have to be sponsored by you or an agency Good Luck

Thanks ladies, some giggling there! A folded towel is a good option, I just find my head gets pushed back slightly or me neck gets sore and after a few minutes it's all so uncomfortable. Clearly a pillow or towel is the wrong way to go. You need to lower your head, not raise it. If you are on the beach, try digging a hole in the sand then place a small toilet seat on top. Place your face on the toilet seat and this will allow you to breathe whilst maintaining a straight spine. Your own portable massage table! I have visions of OP carrying a toilet seat down the beach :-)

Have any of you had any luck with getting your passport back?? Just wondering as I sent mine off last week, it arrived on Wednesday into Liverpool and I am hoping to travel at the beginning of June. When I used Germany before for my children's and mine it was so fast. June is only 2 weeks away I highly doubt it will be back that quick. Most peoples are taking 7-9 weeks Good Luck

I am almost 59 and received the odd smacked backside as a child. I can also remember getting a wallop on the bottom from our next door neighbour when she caught her own DD and I picking her prized roses! My parents nearly throttled me when she told them what we had done and I was kept in for 2 days!! Her DD got the same treatment of course! We were 7 at the time! I gave my own children the odd smack and had no issues with grandparents or other relatives doing so if they saw misbehaviour that I didn't. To be honest, they rarely needed it as a glare from me was enough! Attitudes are very different now and far too many parents think that no other adult has the right to even speak to a child that is misbehaving. Yes, things have changed from our day, have you required therapy for this abuse? lol None whatsoever, although back in our day a local policeman could give you a belt for misbehaving and then when you got home and told your parents you would get another one for good measure. I don't think I would like a stranger smacking my child though
