The company 'should' have death benefit insurance which would cover death at work which would include transit, whether this was in place or not remains to be seen. Very sad case. Our office is based on SZR and today alone i have seen two accidents from my office window, its just frightening. It seems to be getting worse day by day I wish something could be done about it as I am frightened that one day it could be one of us SZR in the morning is like a race track. Tailgaters, lane swerves, texters, non indication the list is endless. Way above everything else, it is the driving on the roads here - that will drive me out of this country! Scared to death half the time I am on the roads, from simply leaving Mercato Mall to going to MOE! Its the people that cut in front of you that scare me the most. Tailgaters I can move away from.

Hi ladies. I was just wondering what the outcome was on the below case. We were asked to sign a vacating letter in June 2013 not stating the reason (though her email leading up to this letter stated her daughter was moving in, so we thought fair enough and we signed). However, she has sold the property in January and the new landlord is saying he bought the property because of this vacating letter. New LL lives in the UK and owns 30 properties in Dubai so is not moving in. Is our old LL's vacating letter valid in this case? You seem to have had a very similar experience, so would love to hear from you. Thanks. No legal! A reason MUST be given for asking a tenant to vacate, with 12 months notice - RERA are absolutely clear on this. My LL sent me a 2 month notice stating he didn't wish to renew my tenancy agreement - this was also in my contract - but I have all the emails clearly outlining his only reason is to push the rent up - RERA told me in no uncertain terms that the law overrules this and he HAS to renew under the old terms - end of story. If you signed a vacating letter ....this is the end of the matter and the landlord has the right to take it from you.....Rental committee do not interfere in issues that was agreed between the two parties. It is irrelevant of the 12 months notice and this is a different matter as this an eviction notice that the landlord has to give you before evicting you but in your case you have agreed to sign a vacating letter on certain date and after this date it will be illegal to stay in the accommodation. Do not confuse the two issues! I am afraid there is nothing you can do....sorry. edited by jojo 1 on 11/05/2014 my friend has just been through a similar thing. She opened a case at the RC and lost as a vacating letter was given with 12 months notice.

Ok, I can honestly say I have never heard of toasting on one side - LOL. It's not an "American" thing. Funny, none the less. I was going to ask if any Americans could elaborate on this so thank you :-)

So I ask for 2 pieces of toast, buttered - how does it come, toasted on the outside only, with butter having been placed in between the 2 slices and melted! They don't understand how we toast our bread on both sides I have heard the Americans only toast one side also

Sadly there is never any guarantee that the new tenant will pay the same as the current one (unfortunately!). Due to the increases 143 will no doubt shoot up to 180!

I thought passengers who have babies that fit in the bassinet seats have priority not older infants I admit that I have refused to move, NOT to a family with a young baby but with an older child I am tall and OH is 6ft 4 therefore being cramped in an economy seat is not our idea of fun :-(

and empower / and enoc / and adnoc / and the hotels and and and ..... and ..... the problem is that school is the most costly as it's such a large sum for us to pick up - 2% is a substantial add on. If I take Grade 7 @ one of the schools... school fee is approx. 60,000.... there are 200 students - annual revenue for grade 7 is 12 Million. They will collect an additional 240,000 AED in admin fees from Grade 7 alone if we assume that every body pays with credit card. Multiply that by 7 for each grade offered in the school - and the total collected for admin fees is 1.7 Million AED. Are they for real...... Adnoc has never imposed fee surcharge for using credit cards, and I have never paid that fees at any hotels or anywhere here either. I think you are mistaken in saying that the school is collecting that sum for their own use since you called it admin fees, but it is in fact the money the school has to cough up to pay the bank for the "convenience" they offer to the parents. Unless the school has already baked in the additional expense into the school fees from the get go and then still want to charge the surcharge on top. From the school's perspective, this money could be better used to improve school facility etc. As a consumer, I would not like to be charged the fees and would want to take advantage of the cash-back or other fringe benefits the credit card offers, but at the same time, I can understand where they come from. In this scenario, I would opt for a different method of paying then. edited by Saharagypsyrose on 08/05/2014 For using your Debit Card at the petrol station I think they charge an extra AED4

I never like using the CC at the petrol station because you have to give your PIN number to the attendant, at least at the one I use they don't let you work the machine yourself. No way am I going to do that. I have always entered the pin? I would never give my pin to anyone here although my bugbear is when shop and other staff don't check the signature on the back of the card against the receipt!

I agree too. Somehow they always just *look* like they've been made at the tailor and you can get such lovely suits in M&S etc that last well and are so well finished/cut. Much cheaper often too! I got 2 from Primark in the UK, I don't suppose they will last that long but fully lined and smart They cost me the grand total of 19GBP! BHS had some lovely ones for 30GBP too I do prefer Marks though

I thought it normally worked where your salary was split in 3: 1. Salary 2. Housing Allowance 3. Transportation Added together and that is what you got in your pay. Some do it this way Others pay your LL directly Some give it up front and deduct monthly from your salary I think taking it in one lump is very harsh though however I would check your contract I spoke to my PRO who said there is no law governing this in the labor laws Has DH spoken to HR at him company?

Hi all, I am just wondering if I have to renew our car registrations yearly in Dubai? Do you get a notice from the RTA when its due, or is the date on a disc somewhere on the car??? Each country is so different with regards to these things! Just a busy mom trying to figure out what I have to remember to do in future! Thanks! Every year yes and as Izzy says it will be on your registration card and sticker on your number plate

Anyone had any experience with Careem or Uber? DH might not be able to pick me and DS up from work this afternoon. Just would like to know if I book them, will they definitely come? Or will it be the same as regular RTA taxis and take my chance to see whether they turn up or not? Did you use your credit card to pay or can I pay cash? Many many thanks! Have used Careem several times. Yes they will definitely turn up and they will text you when the driver is en route and when he has arrived. They are not the same as the reg taxis Chauffeur driven, nice cars. I paid online so don't know about the cash option sorry

Is Tramadol hydrochloride available on prescription in Dubai please? My Father is here visiting & has just realised that he doesn't have enough for his stay. He has severe osteoarthritis & will be in rather a state without them! TIA When I was admitted to hospital with a back injury I asked the surgeon if they prescribed the drug and they said no. They gave me another one which I didn't end up taking as the side effects after taking one were awful. I would call Life Pharmacy here and ask as I was under the impression it is banned here too

Anyone had breast augmentation done before? I had this surgery 3 weeks ago in my home country and was wondering how long the healing process took? I've heard different things and I'm still experiencing pain, especially when laying down. Some say its normal and that it will be like this for about 12 weeks after the surgery. I had a breast lift at the same time so perhaps that's one of the reasons also?? I did but didn't experience any pain at all and went back to work in 2 days Lots of itching and couldn't lie on my front for a few weeks Everyone is different I suppose. When you say laying down do you mean on your front or back?

I just don't want to be caught out with a scam, so best to stick to a company, but then who to go to, as agents are so rude and painful to deal with these days.. If only this country was more regulated in regards to property and prices, far too much greed fuelling price hikes.. Good Luck I will have to go through it again for the 4th time next year :-(

I think someone's got confused somewhere though. They're pricing the tesco own brand stuff in line with branded products, the tesco own brand cornflakes are more expensive than Kellogg's, the tesco own brand rice pudding is more expensive than ambrosia, etc. Think someone needs to explain that tesco own brand stuff is not a premium product and is what people purchase when they're trying to cut back. I like what you wrote and that is what I was worried about. Waitrose is the same here
