Yep, be prepared for one of the worst service experience's in Dubai. We went for breakfast last year and the service was dreadful. They got most of our orders wrong and took forever to bring us a drink. We were on the huge table inside and people were hovering over us waiting for us to leave so they could have the table. I wouldn't mind but we were still eating!

Hmmm, I wonder why I can no longer find the Motor City villas on the calculator! Are they going to make us go by the Ranches or Victory Heights? It is under Green Community Motor City I think and at the bottom of the list it says Uptown Motor City? No idea which is which though sorry edited by sarahlou123 on 04/05/2014

What I don't understand is how 18 months ago a 3 bed in the Ranches was 110k-240k and now they are 200k- 240k. Were they that price pre 2009 This is getting ridiculous

Crikey, it has changed from the beginning of the year My friends has gone from 5% to 10% increase in less than 2 months! I think there will be a dramatic jump in some areas, but not in others - mine has only increased 3% from the last update and still means zero increase. That's good I have just signed for my last year :-(

If you can order via Debenhams online look at Ted Baker Junior, John Rocha and Jasper Conran. I have just bought so much stuff from the UK for my friends bubs and it was so cheap in the sale.

Hi We are going tomorrow and all I can find is that the doors open at 4 and the concert starts at 5:30. I believe Maverick is first billing but not sure if there are other acts before him. Anyone have more insight into the actual line up and potential time frame? Thanks edited by Rickadon on 01/05/2014 They have a FB page perhaps look on there

It irritates me tht he does nothing at all, he hates his job, complains abt it all day and doesn't wanna go to work. Pressures me to get a job. Never ever help around the house. So lazy sleeps at 8 and wakes up late. Making fun of my weight and I'm 53 kilos and I gained weight becos I had a child. Wants to eat all the time and hates my cooking so orders junk most of the time. Spends all his money and on weekends all he does is play games or watch movies on his laptop with headphones on. The thing I hate the most is Tht he has no plan for anything future, job, money..anything!! And no ambition wht so ever so I really think I can no longer depend on him for our future which is so depressing. I cud go on forever .. wow, now I'm also irritated at your husband on your behalf you're irritated, i am at the divorce courts.... Me too, that isn't a marriage!

Does rubbish actually get recycled here???? Don't know, but we always use the recyle bins. I thought it all went in the landfill as normal It may do, but I still make the weekly trip. Don't ask why? I wont ;-)

I thankfully know very little about the world of drugs, so forgive me if this sounds silly, but is it possible she wasn't using regularly, and this occasion was a 'one off' suicide episode? Then it's feasible her husband didn't know. Or maybe she was using, and him too perhaps? Whatever the circumstances, I most definitely think she was more troubled than selfish Izzy. edited by Scribs on 01/05/2014 She could of injected/smoked a pure form of heroin and then it is game over, not necessarily suicide. Years ago I worked in a UK pharmacy and we had a methadone program and many of the addicts died from overdose. Several went on detox but all failed

Does anyone know where the nearest police station to Dubai Marina is? The bump happened in the car park behind the 2 towers by Dubai Pearl exit. I'v searched through the Dubai Police website and the link for "locations of our police stations" shows something completely different! When I lived in the Marina I had to go to the Jebel Ali Police station near the FZ

I'm headed to Europe for my first time in a few weeks.. Do you think it's safe to take my engagement ring with a decent sized diamond or should I leave it back in Dubai? Whereabouts in Europe? You just need to be aware and not flaunt any expensive items ( Handbags, flashy jewelery) etc I agree with not flaunting it, but sorry, there are loads of people all around Europe with decent sized diamond rings. This is all being blown out of proportion. Just be aware of what's going on around you. I was about to write the same although in major cities you have to be aware.

I second the Waves, we had some friends who lived there and I remember their pool was simply stunning with a children's pool separate ( so it's civilised), sun loungers, tables with nice umbrellas, BBQ areas, they even had a tennis court, gym, steam and sauna!!! Metro is also close to this tower I think.... Good luck! Pool is lovely, I used to look at it from my balcony 5 minute to Metro and you have Bobs Fish and Chips across the road!

It is sad that this applies to a lot of countries/cities now When we went to Florida we were advised to not wear expensive jewelery even engagement and wedding rings as many tourists had been targeted. Thankfully we didn't have any issues but many others did. Sad world we now live in

Good morning, it too me a while, but I think I have made up my mind, and intend to live in Dubai Marina. However there is such a huge number of towers, that it feels literally impossible to get even an idea on where to start looking. Maybe some of you have an idea about good towers? Just a two bedroom (unfurnished), with a nice gym / pool / steam, ideally close to metro or upcoming tram ( I have to get a drivers license in Dubai - never took classes before! - but tram or metro is also nice for my visitors) . Work wise I have to head towards Downtown, but I didn't feel that the apartments there have the right vibe for me, hence still going to look there but trying to expand my options). Unfortunately I have just a week. My budget is slightly under what the original 6 Emaar Towers would cost nowadays. My friend lives in the Waves which is close to a metro stop, it is a Damac development and she has been happy there for 2 years. I used to live in the Marina Sail which is next door. Nice enough building but we didn't get the sun after 2pm as it had moved around the building

I'm in Dubai. Really surprised that the other person left her details - wouldn't have happened in London! I've spoken to her and she was really apologetic so fingers crossed she turns up later. So we go to the police station rather than phoning? And any police station will do? What a start to the day! You normally have to go to the police station closest to where the accident happened

Hi, We are planning to move to Dubai and have few questions. Please help ! My husband has bene offered a job. He will be moving with me and my 3 year old daughter. Here are few questions that we have before making a big decision - 1) He has been offered a salary of 14000 (all inclusive) AED per month. Do you think this is good enough to rent an apt in dubai, eat well and also send my daughter to an American/British school ? 2) Are the schools very expensive in Dubai and is the education really good ? 3) Some people advised us to stay in Sharjah to say on some rent. But some other folks suggested that Dubai is a better place to stay and also Dubai has better education to offer for my daughter. 4) My husband's company is not paying anything for me and my daughter's travel. What does my husband need to do ? 5) Are the fees to get VISAS for me and my daughter expensive as my husband has to bear the expense ? Waiting for your expert advice. Thanks ! The biggest cost is your rent and to get an idea on a 2 bed look at this website www.justrentals.ae Most 2 beds in Dubai in a good area go for around 100-150k per year Half of his salary with go in rent, then you have bills on top. Utilities around 500-800 per month, Internet and basic TV package is AED300 per month Schooling is around another 3,000 or more a month That equates to almost 11,000 per month and we haven't started on food, going out, other essential items, petrol, salik etc Personally speaking I feel it is a very low amount. I imagine people get by on this sort of salary however scrimp each month. I certainly couldn't do it and I am not a huge spender Rents are massively increasing at present which is causing everyone stress. You also have to bear in mind that rents are paid by cheques usually 1, 2 or 4 cheques plus an agency fee and a deposit. edited by sarahlou123 on 30/04/2014

Hi had this done for CIN III many years ago in the UK It was a pretty painless procedure and I didn't take any additional time off work. I also was given a local not a GA. I had the LEEP procedure which I believe is the same as yours and just remember my disco leg going due to the electrical current. edited by sarahlou123 on 30/04/2014

Highly recommended, fabulously written, funny, sad the full shebang He comes across as a wonderful man! I downloaded it a few weeks ago but not had chance to read it yet. I just finished John Bishops book and he comes across as really down to earth. Can't wait to see him next month. Me too. I laughed out and cried with Davids book, such a lovely man and he adored Ronnie Barker who seemed like a great man too
