Hello ladies! Can anyone give me any feedback on caterers they have used for an at home party for my husband party? Funny how it is more difficult to plan a party for him then for the kids! They are clamping down on illegal maids big time The block next to me was raided last week and our security will not let any maids bar agencies ones with proof in anymore. I believe AR has signs up regarding this. I would never risk it due to the fine and what if said maid stole from you etc. You couldn't report her for getting into trouble yourself. It just isn't worth it.

When I go into settings then Mobile the only thing switched off is Data Roaming. In settings - general - about NETWORK says Etisalat. Curious? have you changed the settings on your phone to wifi only... I haven't changed anything that I can see. Where on an iPhone 5 would I find that? Go into settings Have you turned the data plan button off? Mine is permanently set to WIFI but only picks that up when I am out of the house Go into General then newwork and let me know what options are there

Hi all, I want to do brunch for my husband's 40th, but want to do in a nice brunch where quality of food is more important then quantity and where we can have a separate room. Anyone has done a brunch with a large group for special occasion and were happy with food and service? We use to do loads of brunches on Fridays when we first came to Dubai but not anymore so if anything new and interesting lately I'd appreciate any feedback on your experience! Thank you!! The Fairmont has its own private room and the food is fab however it isn't really a kid brunch if that makes sense

Hi everyone Do you have a problems with balance on your mobile (etisalat) ? It's sooo annoying .... Last 10 minitues my balance was going down from 25 aed to 3 aed - I didn't make any call , sms , I don't subscribe for any plan ... and I mentioned it not first time . I did call to etisalat but it's very difficult to talk with these company ..they didn't give me any answer and ask me to call back in 2 hours . Is it happened with someone else ? I really want to change for Du ... or they also have same problems? Do you have data roaming switched on on your phone?

Sarahlou or any other SnS experts. Why would I get a request for my passport or EID copy as my parcel has been held in customs for duty and tax payment. It's only three dresses. Sorry I missed this. Agh you should of said I would of collected them in the UK and brought them back for you. Although saying that my suitcase out of Dubai was 22 and 31 coming in! The sales were on everywhere at home did you get us our pies? Hope so I'm starving :( No pies just half an oink oink and Primani in there ha x

This all gives me a headache. So now my LL has served me TWO, yes TWO months notice as he 'doesn't wish to renew'. RERA again stating what he's done is not allowed - even though it states in my contract he can terminate with 2 months notice - but then that contracts an 'automatically renewable contract'. Plus he hasn't stated a valid reason not to renew. Why do they put us through all this drama and trouble. Just fed up of it now :( edited by FairyDust on 28/04/2014 The easiest thing to do is make sure you have changed all the locks ( kept the old ones to change back) Email him the only reasons for eviction after 12 months notice Check the calculator, write cheques out for 12 months amount Tell him that you are within your rights to stay and you can take the cheques and current contract ( Make sure it is registered with Ejari) down to rent committee who will take cheques, give a new contract and send them to LL. If he doesn't like it he can open a case against you.

When posting on Dubizzle you will always get weirdos. It's normal :) Mark prices up higher than you want too. Helps get rid of the idiots I have another phone for things like this and to give to shops etc so my main phone doesn't receive all the spam calls/texts

@sarahlou123 Do you know where the people who queried it with RC got their info? Did they go in person? I will go next week to find out but will need to take 4year-old DS along :-( I would like to know it the email will suffice, if so, I think we don´t have a leg to stand on and DH will lose in court, not to mention just waste his time. Someone at the RC committee told them. I imagine it changes from person to person A poster on here lost their case after 12 months as the LL have the eviction notice in writing and it wasn't notarized. She was told by the judge 12 months was given via email therefore move. LL can only evict for one of the four reasons and he has to state this Email LL the link regarding eviction.

Do you have an I tunes account on your home computer? Does he want to download from there if so you can do homesharing http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819 2 separated iphone users can use the same I tunes He will only be able to use the UAE iTunes store for downloads if his apple account is registered in the UAE. If he has a US credit card he can change the store to the US one and may be able to download more content I hope this makes sense

l would say you definitely have a case, but suggest you ask the LL to file it. Just say you've taken advice and are not leaving. The notice needs to be via notary public or registered mail and it MUST state one of the four reasons for eveiction. Family use and proof they have nowhere else to live. Selling Demolition and I think the other one is alterations (or something like that) and they must prove that the house will be uninhabitable while it's going on major maintenance is the final one, if the house is unhabitable [b'>An email stating notice will suffice now as several people I know queried this with the RC and they said it is fine as did judges at RC[/b'> That's very interesting as everyone I have spoken to has said that it must be notary public or registered mail. My friends took their landlord to court because they were given their 12 months notice in May 2013 but contract was ending in Nov 2013. Court ruled they have until May 2014 to live in the house. They said the 12 months doesn't need to be from the strat or end of contract it can start from when letter was received and signed for. edited by starsouthern on 17/04/2014 I recently found that out also

There aren't any actual laws for this however most LL have written into contracts it is 2 months Ours must be greedy as it says 90 days and always has. Arent they all, I have to meet mine at the end of the month to renew. That will be fun as we haven't corresponded since the tooing and froing about the increase!

Well, I'm heading off on an os trip for three weeks and leaving the two woofs in DH's care. DH works very long hours (someone will pop in to entertain the woofs during the day so at least they'll be okay!), but the problem is that DH is not very domesticated! He does know how to use the washing machine (basic wash only), the dish washer (it only has two options), vacuum cleaner, iron (although it's painful watching him!), the microwave, how to make toast and fry an egg, and that's about it! I've been cooking and freezing meals for him for the last two days, and I really am over the whole process. Had to go and buy a chest freezer to keep all his meals!!! So, my question is - what do you do with your DH if they fall into the un-domesticated group and you're away for a few weeks? I'm interested in how you deal with this... Agency cleaner and takeaways lol

I think there are also some other reasons EW has changed in the 10+ years it has been running. In those days, there wasn't really anywhere else to ask things. (Does anyone remember the lady that used to have a column in 7 Days where you could ask her to find things and she would write back where to get it.) Nowadays, people are generally not here for only 2 years like they were then. People stay here for longer. There's not such a high turnover of people needing information, and those that do need information would often google it, finding the information on EW or somewhere else. Or they would ask someone they have met, who has been here for longer so knows more than someone who just moved in last week. Most information is already 'out there' and is waiting to be found, rather than unknown. We still have newbies to Dubai, but their requirements in terms of information they need have been met (Look at all the info EW has gathered over the years and made part of their site). Added to that, personalities on the board can change the rhythm and tone of the board, if it is sometimes not a very nice place to be, people will stay away. I believe that is what has happened to EW over the last couple of years and it has generally become quieter. Didn't she have a really posh double barreled name. I was thinking about her the other day
