Sarahlou and Emurella, which spray are you using? I use Paul Stafford in a pink bottle. I get it from the UK and it has argan oil in it I have seen the range at Choitrhams in the Greens

Any straightener or flat iron is going to damage your hair, especially when used on a daily basis. The immediate results are good, but who knows what will happen later. I use a flat iron a few times a week and I like how my hair looks when I use it, but when I don't, I can definitely see it's more damaged than before I started using the flat iron. I use mine twice a week with heat spray and mine is fine. I have been using straighteners for years Perhaps some people are just unlucky with their hair :-(

I would be careful there though as I had read of someone who opened a case against the LL as he didn't give the increase as per the calculator within the 90 days and the tenant lost. The RC just looked at the calculator and said this needs to be paid.

I am opposite to most. My hair is in way better condition here than in UK. I often wonder if it is because I spend a minimum of an hour a day outside, often more so I guess my Vit D levels etc are high. Mine is too. At home it is unmanageable for some reason?

A LL has to give you not less than 90 days notice to change any parts of your contract. Legally you dont have to give him notice to stay only if you are leaving however most people do give their LL notice to renew

Did someone from a Uni call you or was it someone from the website? The number on said website is a US one. It was a call from an university who's name I forgot. Was the number withheld? Yes Did they have a US or UK accent? could you tell as I can see their aren't many universities on the site and that may narrow the search down for you

Hello ladies, I am so stressed out right now! So we have lived in a vila for over a year now. Our AC vents/ducts have never been cleaned before. I am 8 months pregnant and also have a 21 month old. I have gotten quotations from several different companies including Epsco and Saniservice to have our ac ducts cleaned and sanitized. Saniservice however told us they are not able to clean our AC because the airbox on the roofs insulation is damaged. We had some companies quote us on just fixing that and it's coming to around 7k AED! Apparently all the insulation is missing so it needs to be replaced. The issue is that our LL just raised our rent 40k aed for next year so DH isnt very happy about that. Their maintenance service is horrible and we always end up paying for most things ourself. Is there anyway we can have the LL cover the costs for something like this? Or is it our responsibility. I just got off the phone with DH and he is saying he refuses to pay for the insulation repair and will start using the AC and doesn't care to have it cleaned. =( I don't know what to do. =( What does it say in your contract? Mine says maintenance covered by LL How can you LL raise your rent legally by 40k a year were you paying a really low price before?

Hello Have you tried the builders merchants shops in Al Quoz There is one opposite Pan Emirates and the Red Petrol station on Umm Suqeim Road that sells weird and wonderful items. I bought transformers for spotlights from there Is it fairly obvious? Like if I head to pan and look across the road, it will be easy to spot? edited by Gummy on 18/03/2014 There are a lot of roadworks there now and you used to be able to u turn as you just went past Pan Emirates. There are a few little shops there and one is a builders merchant. Sorry I don't know the name but it is close to Pest Control If / when you go try and pick a quiet time, if there is such a thing!! Not sure you can do a U turn anywhere near that now if you're heading up towards the Al Khail Road. It is close to the back of the car registration place if that makes sense If you come down the main drag through Barsha at the back of Lulus you may be able to go straight at the lights if that makes sense

Hello Ladies I really don't know what to do anymore. I need to loose 3-4 kilos and I have been working out and watching what I eat but nothing is happening not even .5 kilos!!! Who should I see or what should I do? Please help me… I only have 3 months to loose this 3-4 kilos!!! How many calories are you consuming daily and what work outs are you doing? If you are consuming too little this could be causing the problem I use My Fitness Pal App to track my food ( They have a phone App and an online version) I do cardio and weights on alternate dates I struggle to eat 1200 and especially with the workouts also but you have to eat slightly over the 1200 calories to see any results. I lost 2-3kg in the first week alone. Good Luck

Another one to say do not worry, they grow out of it. My DD had the same issue. There was a boy in her class called Ron and she called him "won" :-) I thought she was the only one, until I heard other classmates calling him the same way. She grew out of it by the time she was 6. My Niece used to call me Auntie Sawah so cute! She also grew out of it

I was getting very angry with the other one lately, I was a frequent shopper there, and a big organic foodie :) but every week I was feeling my bill going higher and higher and I was practically buying the same items!!! Anyway, the new one is facing the Saudi German Hospital, next to the Media Rotana Hotel :) hope this helps! and good luck :) When you say opp the SGA do you mean it is on the front where the MR Hotel is? Thanks

You get what you pay for and this product is expensive I would be very wary of the cheap deals for this product as a lot of these products contain formaldehyde which is awful for you hair Call Roots at Barsha and ask for Kerstraight and cost. It is recommended by top UK hairdressers and not harsh on your hair at all. I don't think it costs more than 2k though

So you can blatantly advertise art classes by reviving a 2/3 year old thread and nothing happens. I once unintentionally mentioned what I used to do for a living in the UK and get wiped off within seconds. That was when I was a newbie and naive, thanks for the welcome. Another time asked for alternatives to dubizzle and same. But put full details of classes and that's OK is it I highly doubt admin will allow it they just haven't see the thread yet and once they do will remove it :-)

Thanks so much for your replies. I'll check out meetup.com and real pilates. I've gotten a couple of replies as well which is nice because it helps to feel less alone in this place where everyone is either busy or leaving the country! Be careful with some of the Meetup groups as they can be a little sleazy and lots of men on the lookout for a good time ( if you know what I mean)

I was just about to post the same question. We queried with maintenance from our complex and they want 420 dirhams for one remote - I felt that was a bit pricey? I paid 300 for an access card that I lost! shocking price.

Hi ladies We are planning a trip with our 4 year old and 18 month old in April for around 5 nights. Have any of you been to Maldives, Mauritius or Bali with small kids? Any child friendly resorts you can recommend with a good kids club? We just want a relaxing chilled out vacation and not bothered about sightseeing this time around. Thank you The only thing I can advise about Bali is the flying time Is longer than the others then travel to resort/area on top. Just over 4 hours for Maldives, just over 6 1/2 hours to Mauritus and almost 8 to Bali my friends went to Bali recently and it took a total of 11 hours with flying and travelling to resort. I also believe they had to change planes in Jakarta I don't know if this makes a difference to you and I am sorry I cant help with areas

Hello, we are in a rented villa and the landlord won't replace our garage door openers. It's a pain in the neck so we are going to buy replacement controls. Any idea who sells them? I have been to Satwa and no one there seems to know. We don't want to replace the entire system, we just need the little open/close controller. Thanks. Which area do you live in? Emaar, Nakheel etc. If it is any of them they may be able to advise If you aren't then sorry no clue

Did you give notice that you wanted to stay? If not, do that as soon as possible. Then sit back and don't worry. As Sarahlou123 said, leave her to file a case if she wants you out then she pays the fees not you. Dont tell her are going away though. It is unlikely the case will come up so soon but the worst that can happen is that it is rescheduled because you are away. Scaralex, do you mean giving notice to the LL? No, we verbally told her but haven't officially 'given notice' . We asked RERA about this and they said this won't be a problem I might double check with RERA though as this slightly worries me! It is the rent committee that deal with this and she cannot evict you 7 weeks before end of contract, by law you do not have to tell her you want to stay, you only have to tell her if you are leaving ( 90 days before end of contract) she cannot increase the rent by more than the rent calculator and her arrogance that the laws do not apply to her astound me considering HRH Sheikh Mohammed set the ruling regarding rent increases before Christmas. I would keep every piece of correspondence ( Deal by email only) tell her you are entitled to stay and if she wishes to evict you she needs to give you a valid reason and 12 months from end of contract. It is very very difficult to evict someone from a property let alone someone where is it legal to stay. Tell her you will have the cheques written for the correct amount ( refer to the calculator) and if she doesn't want to collect them you will take them to the Land Department who will draw up a new contract for 12 months and deliver the cheques to her. If she doesn't agree then she will have to open a case with the rent committee, not you. She is using bullying tactics as I imagine she wants to increase the rent or get too much money out of you. We all know our rights and should stand by them to stop this Good Luck

Thanks for your replies, Yes I have asked my husband, Getting him to remember to pop up to HR and ask is a mission in itself! Haha!! Michamen are you sure I would get that allowance in the monthly salary even if married to someone in the company? Thanks!! :) Most salaries are made up of basic, housing and transportation as a total package. Housing allowance is usually high to keep the basic down for gratuity

Our tenancy contract is up for renewal on the 30th March and we need to file a case with RERA. Our landlady gave us 7 weeks notice and wants to increase our rent by 30% - she's being very aggressive and actually told us the Dubai laws don't apply to her! Does anyone know how long we will have to wait for the hearing after we go down to RERA to file the case? The problem is that we go on holiday for a week early April and I don't want to be away a miss the hearing. Not sure whether to file the case just before we go or wait until we get back to Dubai. RERA said we can wait until we get back - but i feel uneasy about leaving the country with no one in the flat plus the last contract will have expired! Why don't you let her file the case especially as you are not at fault and she is breaking the law. She cannot evict you on these terms. I would send her all the relevant information regarding eviction notices, the rent calculator costs and your claim to stay. if she still does not agree then tell her she has to take it up with the rent committee. Most, if not all back down with this and it saves you money and time :-) I hope you changed the locks when you moved in Good Luck

sarahlou123- when you had your lift was your size reduced ? I was just about to research this but would be great to hear from someone that had it done here I didn't have mine lifted just enlarged. My friend had hers enlarged and lifted but had them done in Brussels as she found a fab surgeon here. Another friend had hers reduced here with Dr Imran Tahir and she was back at work in a week with no pain killers ( She also stands up all day in her job) she raved about him.

sarahlou... do they only make a standard size? or do they fit all sorts of cushions? excuse my ignorance but would like to know a bit more about this... we were planning on buying a pre-loved ACE outdoor lounge unit I have the ACE rattan 3 seater and 2 seater. The cushions that came with it were cream and got so dirty. I have 5 seat pads and 5 back cushions. I took 2 of the cushions into him ( seat and back pad) and he made covers for all. I don't think they were standard size as the shop at Dragon Mart sells rattan sofa sets with all different size of cushion. I didn't need the filling and just put the new covers over the old ones so I could take them off and wash them when needed. The colours I saw were burnt orange, yellow, light blue, light green and a few others. Just plain colours though not striped or patterned. I imagine he can make the covers for any size. I
