Hi all. Im sorry in advance if this is a super boring thread but I need to vent. I'm wondering if I'm over reacting or anyone has experienced a similar thing. I have a maid for over a year, we just renewed her visa. She is generally great. One thing I noticed is how self obsessive she is. She seems to be constantly taking posey photos of herself (fully clothed) but suggestive positions. We went for dinner the other night and she babysit my 2 kids, my son mentioned the next day that she kept asking him to take photos of her in HIS new cap and said she said "we keep taking them till i get the right one" He told me he was tired and she just kept asking. Needless to say I was furious! How dare she Inlist my 8 year old especially when her job was to watch him. I confronted her and of course all the sorry and no I will never do it again. But I can't help feeling still angry about it! She had a boyfriend at home in Philippines but insisted they were not for him which I don't believe for a second. Do you think I'm overreacting? Thanks for any thoughts on this. I could imagine my Managers reaction if I stood in the middle of the office and took Selfies or asked a client too. You have now told her you weren't happy so I would leave it at that and hope that she stops. It seems to be a big thing now taking pics of yourself in a variety of poses and uploading them to FB etc . Hopefully It is just a craze and will stop although KK never does!

Computer plaza at Bur Dubai did mine for around AED50, hundreds of shops there that can do it When I unlocked my BB ( It was on the Orange network) I found a site online. Paid around AED10 and followed the instructions. It worked a treat. Have you called provider and asked or looked online as sometimes you only need a code

Hello ladies I was offered a very great job in a company located inside Dafza. I just would like to ask the following questions which bothers me whether I will move to the place nearer or not: 1. Heard the parking inside the DAFZA is difficult? Where can i park my car? 2. If I will be working in DAFZA which area is ideal? We looked at a flat beside DAFZA metro station, is the traffic light to that area especially in peak hour or very horrible? 3. Any school/nursery you can recommend for my kg1 child? Thanks in advance mommies Mirdif is close to DAFZA as is Business Bay. From the DIFC to DAFZA across Business Bay bridge it takes me 20 mins in the morning or afternoon as the traffic is flowing in the other direction Parking in DAFZA can be problematic outside the security barrier as it is limited . Inside there is much more space however I do not know if you can park in there if you are working in the East or West Zone . I have driven around and around before now trying to find a space whilst attending meetings. Metro would be best if this is doable

UPDATE : Thanks for help girls - tougher than I thought In the meantime.... He keeps going to the Pub ... All of them! His wife in uk ... waiting for him to get a job etc., I now have my teenage son back (he's 31) :( hungover, messy bedroom etc., It's not even weekend!! Not much job search goin on here :'( Help Do what we did when we had friends over and they kept wanting to go out. We converted the price of every drink back to GBP - that put the brakes on ;) I have friends visiting for the 1st time in May and I told her Husband who is nearing the end of his 22 years how much a pint is here. He nearly fainted! Going from drinking in the Mess and at Sqn Bars with twofers, it is a shocker to even pay bar prices in pubs in the UK, let alone here. Any good ex-mil can sniff out happy hour here at 50 paces! When I lived in Germany we paid the equivalent of 40 pence for a double voddie in the mess. :-) Oh the days

Went to see Peter Pan at the WTC - really good show set to great 70s / 80s / 90s music - but there was hardly anyone in the audience, we could barely raise a decent clap between us. I guess for JB it will just be the 5 of us that have heard of him here! ;-) I have lots of other friends going so I reckon it will be busy :-)

Heard about it on the news on Monday and felt a bit offended on his behalf that the Done spokesman was talking as if he's not very well known in the UK - he's huge !! Our whole family have been huge fans for years and looking forward to seeing him... Not very well known. He is certainly huge at home and more so since Comic Relief I cant wait to see him either and he is from my neck of the woods so even more special :-) No, the bloke said he wasn't well known in the UK - I can believe he's not well known here... I completely agree News flash: There are other expats apart from Brits living in the region. Go figure. I recognise the guy from seeing him do stand-up at the Apollo -- on OSN -- but he doesn't have the currency that you might think, even though he's done heaps of stuff in the UK, including Comic Relief. Not wanting to offend, but seriously: he isn't that well known. Have fun. Not wanting to offend either but if you read the original post, the poster said the guy on the radio said he wasn't well known in the UK not Dubai. HTH :-)

Hi Ladies, I've got a question regarding dark under eye circles. Have any of you ladies had any sort of treatment for it and seen a result. I have hereditary dark circles and although they do tend to lighten or darken depending on tiredness etc, but they are never light. I'm thinking of getting Carboxytherapy done, has anyone tried it? Any advice would be welcome! Thanks My friend in the UK tried every lotion, potion and non cosmetic surgery and nothing worked She finally had them lifted and they pulled the skin against the muscle which took away the dark circles. They look fab! The below procedure has not been clinically tested has it? I remember reading this a while back edited by sarahlou123 on 12/03/2014

Ardal O'Hanlon (Father Dougal in Father Ted) also announced a stand-up show at Almas tower in JLT yesterday if anyone is interested. And I've also heard Jason Manford may be over at some point :) I want Peter Kay ha

Arghh is there anywhere else other than timeout online where. I can purchase tickets! I have tried online since yesterday morning to buy 2 tickets and it will not work. I have tried my credit card, my husbands credit card, called the bank who say there is no problem their end, called time out who say they have no problems grrrrrr Not sure if this is possible, but have you tried the timeout office in Tecom, or some places may call it Media City. It's just opposite the entrance to the multistorey car park (I think). I'm sure if you google it you'll see the location better. Just found a link http://www.timeoutdubai.com/citycard/contactus edited by Geordie expat on 12/03/2014 edited by Geordie expat on 12/03/2014 It is, it is at the back of the Radisson Blue :-)

Hmm thanks girls. Ugh - the whole point is I could shove a load on before going to work and come home to clean dry clothes. We do at least a wash a day at the mo, more so with the new baby I would imagine. So yes it will get some heavy use, problem is we don't have space for a separate dryer. Is it really skanky to put a dryer on our balcony (which we never use?) I don't want to be one of [i'>those[/i'> families who have a cluttered balcony that lowers the tone! Altho where we live, the tone couldn't really be much lower... I don't think so. I have a small fridge on mine and it is has a cover over it so you wouldn't know what it was :-)

Got tickets yesterday too - though the article on Dubai 92 suggested that he's really unknown here... And it got me out of Black Sabbath :-) There didn't seem to be any explanation of the different price bands - cheap seats for us! I imagine he will be. You should meet with GE and I before for some grape ( That is if you drink) I would love for Peter Kay to come. I saw him years ago and he is still one of my favourites

I had an Electrolux one back in the UK and it lasted for years. Many people say they don't last as long as standalone ones. It came top in Which magazine at the time and that is the reason I opted for it. The front loading ones use less water and energy than the top loaders. I don't remember my electricity bills being huge in the UK and I lived on a shoestring budget Hope this helps.

I go to the gym at 6am and am home by 6pm so my night is my own. I don't have any pets either Friends come round and raid my fridge and cupboards and watch some TV I struggle to see 6am but wish I could as that would save the exercise at night. And don't finish till 6pm :( I use to exercise at night but find I have far more energy first thing although I do love my bed ha
