there is too much hype about Expo 2020. It will not create big boom. We had in our country, there was not such big investment like they plan here. Only good point was that the region had bit more tourists that's was it. Luckely in my country they planned it more wisely. Even then it was at a huge cost. They used already based exhibition areas. So now we don't have all these dead empty areas....
Here I wonder what they do after Expo is done....what to do with all the buildings, hotels they plan in Expo area?
People may come and visit 1 day that's it....
Don't think that it would be a huge increase in tourists and if then it is only for this limited period.
Knowing Dubai for 20 years its bit sad to see how it changed. Now I feel it is just too much. More malls more hotels coming....for whom? Restaurants and hotels are complaining about the huge competition. Who will visit all these malls and spend? Nowadays you see many people just 'window shopping'
wondering if restaurants and clubs operate as usual on Thursday?
Yesterday I heard in one Restaurant that they will stop their live music on Wednesday because Ramadan will start this weekend.... Seems Ramadan will start on Saturday so why should be no live music on Thursday? I would understand if is Friday...
We were thinking to leave actually Dubai anyway because of the constant trouble with landlords, rising rent, moving because of that etc. Our company fired lot people over last months too. We are thinking about a better change. Even when we now have to pay taxes again. We are getting tired of living in one of those towers in Marina, with no real peace, noisy neighbours, pushing bosses, long overtime hours, high prices everywhere....missing real friendship and nature.
some of those I know even say that there will be another crash coming this year and that Dubai is 'done', there will be no improving business soon. Possibly it would then be a good idea to really go back home. We can buy a house and re-start again. Our family and friends would happy too if we would be back...
I get bit worried now, some of our friends here, some have own business are becoming very negative. Saying that a lot people left over the last year and lot still leaving Dubai and that economy will go down and it will be similar to 2007/08. Last night one said we should better leave soon...,.what is this? Is everybody so pessimistic? Sure there are problems, low oil and gas prices, a.o.
I love quark as well, I used it so much back in Germany. Here I buy it from Carrefour in Mall of Emirates or near home in Carrefour JLT (opp. Cluster X - I think- / near Damas)
, its a light blue container, they have low fat / full fat, 1kg or smaller tubs, sometimes as well the 'bio' version and with vanilla flavor - google just 'Carrefour fromage frais' - see link below, you get an idea how they look like here
Sometimes Geant in Ibn Battuta has it too. It is called 'fromage frais'
we plan to fly from Dubai to Vienna by Emirates. As Emirates not offering flights to our home town Bremen, we booked Lufthansa from Vienna to Bremen.
As we would not have lot of time in Vienna could we check in luggage in Dubai and then automatically for the flight from Vienna to Bremen?
Not sure as Lufthansa is not a partner airline.
Otherwise I guess we would have to collect luggage in Vienna and then check in again at lufthansa....that would take too much time.
Does anyone has similar experience??
I have my medical certificate, now my husband wants to go to Manara to do my residence visa renewal. Marriage certificate, etc. all at hand. He was asking if he can do it in 1 day? Does he get the renewal in my passport same day or does he has do go back again??
He is so busy and is trying to get in done quickly...
I have 2 employment contract signed actually. One was for Jafza and another with the company. I wonder if I want to resign which contract will be used for end of service calculation.
The jafza one has bit lower base salary then the company one.
I could show my payroll....not sure. anyone has experience ?
Somone told me that if I am on spouse visa, I don't have same rights as someone under company visa. in case there is a issue with employer I can't get support from court or Jafza, where I am working. This what confused me. I mean I have a work permit and contract with Jafza, there should not be difference between spouse or company visa?!?
Currently I am working under spouse visa, my husband. Now that residence via and work permit needs to be renewed my employer asked me if I not want to be directly get under their sponsorship
What are the negatives or pro's when I get under company directly? Is there any issue when I want to change job?
what about water ?
Now we live in 2 bed apt. with AC incl. in rent. I guess living in a house/villa the cost are different? I heard you need to fill water tanks ? What kind of cost we have to think of when renting a house? What comes on top of the yearly rent?
Anyone heard if Dubai taste in Media City Amphitheatre still goes on as planned? We have tickets for the food and concert thursday evening. bUt now tis bad weather with heavy rain and floodings in some areas. According to Gulfnews bad weather will stay till tomorrow....
Finally I did it...I found a doctor I trusted and I finally have done it! As for some years I was told that diets or excersising will not remove the fat in my tighs I saw the lipo as the last chance. As I am smaller on the 'top' I was so unhappy about my hip/tigh area...And sadly I don't have confidence as other woman ...
I had my surgery few days ago...The surgery was not painful. I was awake during the surgery, only hip/leg area was under anesthesia, approx. 1.5 hrs. Then I had ro rest in a room. the nurses took very good care. I have a few very small insertions, but there was some fluid coming out for several hours, which is normal and not painful. The nurses changed the bandage very often. Then after the doc gave his ok I was released...but not before I turned on my garment...that was the trickiest part. It is very tight but once its on its ok. I get used to it. This garment I have to wear now for 4-6 weeks. The first week I can not change it. Its important to wear it brings the tighs back in form. I have some pain now as I have some bruises but I got painkillers.
I think I see already a positive change!!!! Its bit to early to say, as bruises and swelling needs to go, I have to be bit more patient. I think it was the right decision for me!
These vaccinations should be a MUST! If you don't vaccinate your kid and it gets sick...what is then? It could transmit easily to someone else and this person if not vaccinated could get seriously sick! There have been cases were parents didn't vaccinate their kid, but then the kid got sick and they went to the doctor or the kids transmitted in school to other kids!....there was another woman with a small baby that was not vaccinated yet because it was too small...the kid died because of some not caring parents not vaccinating their kid, these parents ended legally in huge trouble as well.
The side effects are minimal if any....the risk of harm is much bigger...
I was diagnosed with lipdemea. Shocking for me as I never heard of this illness before. I always thought I need to be more strict in my diet. I am slim up but my hips/tighs are really getting ugly and its the pain that makes my life miserable. Its going on for long time now that doc told me how to treat. I am looking now for a clinic that is trustable and good
I am so frustrated! Feeling my hips and tighs getting bigger and I had no idea why.....now I know. I have lipidema. This is an illness. The doc said lot woman havet without knowing. They get bigger tighs and think they eating wrong. It seem to start through some hormon changes in body. It is not really known yet...
I am pretty relieved, because now I can do something ...liposuction is one which shows good results.
not sure if they can do it here? Its not the typical liposuction people do for cosmetic reason....Does anyone knows a real good surgeon here????
thanks ladies. the last time we informed the LL that we wanted to stay and ended up paying 15000 increase. We were not sure if this ok or not, but we didin't want to move. We paid. this time we don't want to pay any increase. We paid for the last 4 years every year a increase....
we hopefully are safe this time as we pay 140K and according to Rera rents here are 120-150, we should not entitled to increase
our lease end mid July. we haven't heard anything from Landlord yet. we want to stay and pay same amount as last year. according to Rera calculator we wouldn't have to an increase. according to Rera apt lease is between 120-150k a year, we oay 140k
what we need to do if we like to stay?
We want to renew lease in 2 months. We didn't hear from LL, so he should accept our current rent for another year.
The question is, if LL wants a real estate agent to draft the lease contract, do we have to pay it? We need to pay again 5% of yearly lease?....he would just fill a simple 2 page form....
We paid last year 15% increase... we did not really know the law and we did not wanted to move.
[i'>[/i'>Behind all this sits a problem of political will. Mrs Merkel and the Germans seem prepared to take action only when the single currency is on the verge of catastrophe. [i'>[i'>[/i'>[/i'>
Seems lot of think germans are like a 'cash cow' ....usually germany is paying biggest amount to support other countries...compared to other countries. Greece should have not make it into EU, they were not honest from beginning about their economy. The worst are the banks ...they have not learnt from the past years...they behave still bad.....
just back from business trip. You all seem on same side...interestingly You say I should eat more. i don't like cooking with measuring everything . I tried it but when coming tired from work the last I want is to measure and count when cooking. I don't eat fat, don't use sugar except reduced in baking recepies nor salt, no creamy salad sauces or chips or sweets. I am very strict.
sport is a problem as I have to be very careful with my knee. Doc does not allow any fast walking, jogging for few weeks ...even before I was sitting on the fitness bike for 30 min few times a week but I did not loose weight.
I see almost evertime when we are sitting in Pachanga, Hilton. There is car parking area between Hilton and the new building construction . philipino guy it is... checking every car.. Interestingly. there is a security at the entrance but when its dark they will not see it...
just read.....when do you thin private get off now????
Eid Al Adha will be on Oct. 4 in Saudi Arabia; UAE residents await decision on holidays
Saudi Supreme Court says first day of Dhul-Hijjah month is tomorrow, Thursday
Published Wednesday, September 24, 2014
Eid Al Adha will fall on Saturday October 4, 2014, in Saudi Arabia, accordng to Saudi Supreme Court as the crescent moon has been sighted.
This was after the Saudi Supreme Court had called on all Muslims in the Kingdom to sight the crescent moon of the month of Dhul-Hijjah on Wednesday evening, 29th of Dhul-Qi'dah, 1435 AH corresponding to September 24, 2014.
Arafat Day will be on Friday October 3. Consequently, Eid Al Adha would begin on Saturday, October 4.
With Eid Al Adha falling on a Saturday in Saudi Arabia, there are little chances of extended holidays in the UAE even as GCC peer Kuwait has given the entire week off to its residents, resulting in nine days of holidays.
UAE residents are now eagerly awaiting the official confirmation on the length of the break they will get early next month.
The Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia had requested in its announcement that whomsoever sees the crescent of the month of Dhul-Hijjah with naked eyes or binoculars to report to the nearest court and register his testimony or report to the nearest centre to facilitate his reaching of the court.
It also urged all Muslims to sight the crescent for the cooperation of all in righteousness and piety.
I have experienced in all Supermarkets here that they sell out of date food. I usually go to to Marina Mall, Waitrose or Spinney in Marina Walk. One main problem is the staff. They don't have the understanding here. Then I saw when they get new products that put them just in front. They should check first the date of the already in the shelf and the newest to the back. Out of date should be removed immediately. fresh eggs....according to the stamp they last 3 months!! In my home country its only 304 weeks max then you should not buy/eat these eggs.....
