thanks a million tkoshy - i haven't been on here in ages but this is perfect timing as i'm off to lulus for the weekly shop tomorrow! i'm hoping they have the molds as well. my husband's gm uses bamboo ones but thinking they might also have plastic molds if they have the press. thanks for the tip on the hopper flour brands too :)

Hi daisy d, we use home maids for odd babysitting and overall are quite happy with their service. We have a 5 mo. I've found it's a good idea to request someone with good english just in case you find they have to call you for anything if you're out. Our first trip out the babysitter called and just held a screaming baby up to the receiver - not so helpful and i rushed home immediately just to settle the little chap - luckily we were only 5 mins away. Once we found a lady we (and bub) liked we simply request her again and they have been most helpful. They are homemaids.ae

my dh recently saw steve douglas at SMATS who he said was brilliant. they also hold an annual free seminar just after the budget is released which sounds incredibly dry but is actually super informative and steve somehow makes it entertaining. www.smats.net they have just moved to JLT. good luck

hi summertime i've just started solids with my DS, the same age as your LO. we started with cucumber sticks last week as i'd read about this baby led weaning and liked the idea. he loves the cucumber as i think it's a relief for his gums with any teething pain and he just sucks on the seeds. it's a messy affair but lots of fun. so now i feed him once a day at about midday which works for all of us so far. i have also tried yoghurt and banana for the mush factor (with a spoon) and slightly steamed carrot sticks and then just check the poop to see that he hasn't reacted badly. both DH and i are loving having something else to engage with him over and he's responding super well so far. have fun!

hi there - dish are more you're "do everything" company - they do hiring/ staff/ food/ cocktails - and the chef comes to your house to finish the canapes. the quality is fab but the price reflects it. though it is wonderful to have someone do it all - including the clean up. lime tree is great too - but means you need to do a little more, or have your maid help if you have one. they do offer staff from their cafes as well who are always friendly. i know there are lots of other caterers mentioned on EW but i think dish are the only company that does it all.

thanks ladies - will try the babysitter this week and then use the agency next week for cleaning as well. time to say goodbye to our usual cleaner - sigh, she really is lovely. hopefully we can get a "regular" so at least little man can get used to a familiar face. appreciate the tips

well it's waking him up so his sleeps aren't for as long during the day and he is harder to get to sleep because he does scissor kicks until his blankets come off. i guess it's not a huge drama, he does settle eventually, it's just that i can't swaddle him anymore so i thought maybe the sleeping bag was a good next step?? 19 hours...sheesh i wish - he's excl bf and it's 4 hours max overnight.

yep it's that one..poor hubby :) i know what you mean...the book has a writing style that seduces you and they start off with coffee and soda and slowly eliminate and destroy your enjoyment of anything you love. one thing i did find amazing though was the info about the FDA in america and how the industry is so corrupt and geared towards bad lifestyle choices. i think it is worth the read...just need to keep it all in perspective - not that i can talk now though...trying desperately to lose the baby weight and it feels impossible boo :(

i found it really informative and wasn't intending to become a vegan but i did cut back on all the "bad stuff" for a few months after and saw a marked improvement overall. of course real life caught up and i have slipped back to pretty much all of it - dairy, meat etc. BUT the best thing i took away from the book was to be more aware of what you're eating and i still read ingredients lists on products before buying them now. i think if you can take what you want from the book its pretty fantastic. i did, however, steer clear of the pregnancy version when i was pregnant last year - i craved meat toooooo much and didn't want to put myself on a guilt trip.

i am currently experiencing my second case of thrush and am gritting my teeth through pain locally on the nipple when ds latches and shooting pains after feeding. i got over the first case a few weeks ago with daktarin (on bub and me) but am now concerned an immunity may have built. i'd appreciate any advice on how you may have coped with the symptoms and eventually kicked it. thanks so much...hoping it wont stick around for much longer as it's starting to really affect my enjoyment of bf ing. poo :(

the best in dubai is baalbek castle butcher. the actual butcher shop is based in jumeirah 1 behind the post office but they will cater anywhere. have been to at least 4 of their bbqs and a few of those were in a villa share a few years back, others on the beach. the food is divine, and the guys are super switched on. they bring everything except a table to serve from. here's their details 04 344 1686 or [email protected] - prob best to call though
