Just wanted to ask one more question about the utility bills?? Do you have to pay a monthly charge for the A/C even if you don't use it? and is it Palm District Cooling that you use?

Great thank you. I am having to move and was thinking of moving to Marina Residences. Is there anything bad about the place or things that you don't like? Oh and what is the sound proofing like? Can you hear your neighbors? Is the lady upstairs still not taking her shoes off ?? Nooooooo. I had to call security 4 times between 3:30 am and 4:30 am as they were having a party. Finally got to sleep and was woking by the sounds of moans & groans... yep they were at it again. Had enough really. The whole apartment block has turned into a party place and there are too many short term lets as well even though they are prohibited. It's time to move on.

Soundproofing is fine; we occasionally hear a scrape of chair from upstairs but only when everything is quiet in our apartment and even then it isn't very load. The noise between adjoining apartments is almost non-existent too, if we go to the garbage chute/room we sometimes hear our neighbours music in the corridor but nothing in the apartment which kinda reinforces how well soundproofed they are. There is very little we don't like about them to be honest. We moved here after 7 years living in villas and don't regret the move in the slightest. All the staff are great, the place is kept clean and the security do a pretty good job too. The car parking is far better than other apartments I know of and it's easy to get in and out of with little traffic. Thank you that is really useful info.

Spoke with RERA & he said thatI have to vacate as it says the contract is fixed for one year. He agreed & said then when I move out he can make a new contract & increase the rent So do I now need to speak with the rent comittee then? Has RERA got it wrong? I'm a bit confussed now!!

Desperate is one thing that I am not, I have been very aware not to be desperate. I meet guys just not the right ones. I'm a professional career woman who can stand on her own two feet, I don't need a man but do miss the company of being in a relationship with a man.

OK, I finally went to the Etihad store today and this is what I found out. My ticket will no longer get couriered to me as they have now stopped this!! Even though I paid for it. The ticket is in Abu Dhabi at their offices & I can't go and pick it up as it isn't the process!!! So I have to wait until 26 October to drive to Yas Island to pick up the tickets. So fantastic service NOT as usual!! Anyway, my question is, if I hadn't been pro active in searching for my tickets then how was I supposed to find out that they weren't going to be delivered!! I would start to chase yours if I was you!!!

Good luck. I booked my tickets from the Etihad store at Marina Mall Dubai. Called them, they said maybe 2 weeks. I called Yas Marina & they didn't have my booking reference. I called Etihad office they said maybe 2 weeks. I must have gone around in circles on the phone for about 30 mins!!! Who knows where they are or where they will turn up!!! Where did you get your tickets from?

BUT at 6 am she comes home (I think I am going to have to get to know this girl as she seems to know how to party) a very very short amount of footsteps heard and then nothing!!!!! I think she actually took her shoes off!!! I don't want to say success toooo early but Succ.....

Actually, when I get back from my travel I will go to security and ask the to have word with her. I'm just too tired to deal with the hassle now. The first note was a polite one, the second still polite but a little more obvious. I'm just glad that I am out of my apartment until next week, which I know is a sad thing to say but it's true. And yes she is being inconsiderate.

Have thought about that but: a) my ceilings are big & I don't really want to be balancing on stuff b) it would mark my ceiling & then I would have to get it painted c) two wrongs don't make a right But I have thought about recording the noise and if & when I do get face to face with my neighbor I could play it back to her.

Well what a surprise... NOT At 2am this morning she is back to stomping around her bedroom in her heels. So after being woken up again I get up at 7am and write another note explaining that the last one was obviously not blunt enough. STOP wearing your heels around your bedroom at night as it is waking me up!!! Went upstairs to stick it her door and well, the other note is still on the door. I can tell its been read. She's obviously read it and thought sod you and continued to prance about her bedroom. So once again I am knackered!!! Thankfully I am traveling now until the end of next week but if this continues I can see me knocking in her door (which I probably should have done first) and being a little short with her!!! Happy weekend everyone!!!

jeez, what happened to women's solidarity??? stop being such witches to each other, seriously! i agree with the OP, there is nothign more wearing and soul-destroying than inconsiderate neighbours - no matter what the cause. trikes, etc should not be ridden inside. kids running up and down the landings/hallways in apartments is a no-no. and nobody should have to wear ear plugs in their own home, as a result, surely? try talking to her, send her a note - and when all else fails, call the police. i have done it, it works. we are all entitled to some peace and quiet in our own homes. I couldn't agree more. You know it is such a shame. Just becuse I got woken up early this morning by the above apt, I then post on here and as direct resut women are now insulting or making mass assumptions about and against each other. I wonder if my neighbours late night sh@g was really worth all this stress!!?? I just hope you did not send her the snippy little note someone suggested implying that her behavior is illegal...if you have not met her it is entirely possible she is a married woman. having late nights, wearing high heels and the odd **** does not rule out that possibility - even though you be hard pressed to believe it reading this thread. Having lived in apartments for years now I take a live and live approach.. There is a reasonable amount of noise you can expect at certain times.. in does not include children rampaging through the halls all day or late night hammering and loud parties.. All those living with children in apartments are not automatically to be excused just as all single woman are not all party loving, drunk, sluts. The best solution is always the kindest approach first.. speak to them before sending snippy notes implying they are breaking the law or calling the police. I made no mention of breaking the law or calling the police. Just said hi I'm your neighbour, welcome to the building.... would you mind taking off your shoes if you get home late as the noise travels down and wakes me up....please take this as a kind note.

Al Thania Street. If your on SZR going towards Dubai, just before MOE there's a turn off which takes you to a petrol station & McDonalds. Take that road off and head towards Al Wasl Road. The Waitrose is on your left so you just do a U turn at the lights when you get to Al Wasl. It's always quiet as well.

Well I went up there to see her and there was no answer. Not surprised really as she never went quiet until gone 3am, probably still sleeping it off. Anyway I left a note, a little similar to what EmmaRitz wrote. It was very very polite, god knows why, but I hope she gets the idea. So we shall see, I mean it is the weekend coming up so she is bound to be back in her party mood. Hopefully she'll kick off her heels as soon as she gets in, instead of prancing about and preparing the bedroom for her next conquest!! Ooooooh, that does sound a wee bit bitchy don't it but I'm knackered & have to work all day too as usual.

But really - what is wrong with people that you can't just knock on her door and politely ask her to desist..... the same with the construction noise...... She might punch you. Really? How many people do you know that would punch you when you politely asked them not to prance around in stilettos? I might :D yes dear....... ;) am sure you would; but your a yank and most normal people wouldn't :\: Ouch!!

Welcome to the building! I am a neighbour, I hope you're settling in well. Just to give you a heads up, sound in this building travels. So your neighbours can hear everything. From heels, to chairs moving, to other personal activities one would usually keep to themselves, if you catch my drift. And given where we live, I would be cautious in bringing too much attention to certain private activities, as I'm sure you know the laws in case one disgruntled neighbour reports it. I hope you take this in the goodwill it has been given in. Welcome to the building, again! ORR... Get a broom, and when she bangs, you bang back. Apartment living is like this, though. Love it!!

Yes maybe I should go up there and knock on the door. I could maybe ask her if she has recently moved in as I hadn't heard anything from above before. Then I could politely just ask her if she minded taking her shoes off if she gets in late. And then lets go out for a few vinos ;) edited by SH12 on 03/10/2013

..... my neighbor above me keeps waking me up. Ok, so she gets in late and then struts about in her heels right above my bedroom. The floors are wooden so the sound travels. Then on 3 occasions the last one being last night I had to listen to her having S@ X, this was at 3am!!! And the other thing that constantly gets on my nerves is the sound of her dragging a chair on the floor. Why can't she just pick the chair up to pull it out & it's always after midnight. So my question is?? I am going to write her a polite note an leave it on her door. Any ideas as to what I should write?

If you don't like the song then the easiest thing to do is to just switch it off!! I guess no one is forcing you to listen to it.
