BLW mummy here. DS was forced purees for 2 days when he hit 6 months.. then he refused to open his mouth. Then a lovely friend/doula I know introduced me to BLW.. havent looked back. He is now 25 months old, eats everything.. in fact he eats more veggies than me! :) DD 5 months is shortly going to be starting BLW in a month or so.. :) Edited to add: However, sometimes he does like to be fed, when he is too busy playing with his cousins or something.. but there is no forced eating.. if he wants to eat he will, if not, he wont. <em>edited by shaf on 10/07/2011</em>

just to point out.. its easier to lift the kurta up to breastfeed rather than have a front open one and have your entire upper breast area in public view :) And best place for salwar khameez is Bur Dubai... There is Princess, Sheetal, Soul of SHeetal, Jashn, etc etc. Take a drive around and u should see loads of stores. And you can also ask them if they stitch or else they will recommend someone.

Google "Lactose Overdose" My DD too had loose stools, painful wind, bad diaper rash.. we dint know wat it was for 6 weeks, and i even went on the diary free diet and almost starved myself (do u know how many products out there have milk?!?!??!).. In fact there were a couple of doctors pressurizing me to switch to formula cos according to them she was "Lactose Intolerant". Anyways, turned out to be lactose overdose. Do look it up. http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfinfo/lactose.html

I think I realise that no matter what preparation you do ....... if you have a low tolerance for pain then you're going to need an epidural unless you can mentally train your mind to believe that it is not pain but some other process taking place. edited by Natashak on 29/06/2011 Not really. It hurts a lot.. but it isnt so bad that u cant bear it. Believe me, when i say zero or minus pain tolerance for me.. and if I can pop without an epidural, anyone can! Read up a lot.. it really does help. Get a doula if u can.. lifesaving women I tell u! :) Good luck with your delivery :)

i have zero pain tolerance.. 2 kids but i still wince when i have a blood test done... my first labor was 24hrs.. at 18hrs i had an epidural. The mistake I did was to lie down in bed at 17hrs.. once u lie down, the pain is simply too much to cope. Plus I had awful awful stitches after he popped. Second time round, I was most scared abt the stitches more than anything. But I was much better prepared. I highly recommend Ina May Gaskin's "guide to childbirth". Thanks to that book, I have a 2hr labor and delivery. I dint expect to dilate in 2hrs.. i definitely dint expect t be pushing out a baby the minute i reached the labor room. 20mins of pushing and she was in my hands. :) Plus 20mins after her delivery i was standing in the shower without help. No stiches also. 1 - I labored and delivered on hands and knees.. and this is by far the best position to deliver a baby. If u read it up, u will find that when u r on your hands and knees your opening is at its largest. Yea, even i couldnt comprehend popping out a baby on my hands and knees, but it worked and i have a totally intact perinium! 2 - Apparently the vagina and the mouth are interconnected. So each time I had a contraction I would open my mouth like i was roaring. And i kept telling myself that there would be space for 2 babies to walk out. :) 3 - I had Dr. Elsa, City hospital who guided my birth so that I wouldnt tear. She told me when to hold, when to push. I am not saying its easy.. pushing out a baby is like having the biggest poop of your life. But i had no time for pain relief.. i dint want pain relief, but i was screaming for an epidural when i reached the hospital :D I honestly cannot imagine a delivery in any other way than hands and knees now. And yea, my baby was over 3kg.. so not exactly light!

It's doable - even without a maid [shock horror'> The great thing is that after surviving taking both shopping, you'll wonder why you ever thought that only taking one was hard... and will think it a huge break/ walk in the park when you do only have one! lol Mine are 21 months apart, by the way and I don't have home help. There are several things that I found that helped no end: - make peace with the fact that your life will be non-stop and at various levels of semi-controlled chaos. Allow for flexibility, don't get het up if it doesn't go to plan and don't worry if #2 is just tagging along. - crack a routine that suits you and stick by it, for me, mealtimes and bedtime were set in stone, everything else was flexible... but bedtime especially was completely non-negotiable! Then, once they're in bed, RELAX and have "you time". The ironing can wait... pretty much until the next wash! lol - get your eldest adjusted to any changes before the birth... ideally by a couple of months before the birth. - when bubs is born, don't be afraid to let #1 play with them (under supervision). Maybe record "Get off him/her!", "Stop that now!" and "Don't pull/poke his/her head!" to be played on loop for the foreseeable future! - when feeding your newborn, don't exclude your toddler. I found it to be quite a difficult moment because #1 would invariably decide she wanted attention, right when I was least able to give her a big cuddle, so instead, I would sit her next to me and devote all my attention to her, whilst still feeding #2. - Be open and answer any questions they may have about you giving birth, feeding bubs or bubs him/herself. #1 will be very curious and I think a key thing to diffuse the potential jealousy is to make sure they feel important, loved, included and informed about the whole kaboodle. Holidays are fine. To be honest, the toddler/newborn combo is quite easy in comparison to toddler/ mobile baby (nightmare)... and then it gets easier when you get to pre-schooler/ toddler. You'll be fine! Plus, an extra bonus is that you'll get a nice toned figure relatively quickly - lugging two little'uns around will burn the baby weight off like nobody's business! edited by Hello.Again.Kitty on 28/06/2011 Agree with all HAK said, except the losing weight bit :P My 2 are 21months apart. DS just turned 25months and DD is 4months. The first 6 weeks were a bit crazy.. trying to schedule my sleep was the biggest problem as DD needed to be fed thru the night and DS would be up and ready to run early in the morning. Now, DH and I have days where I can sleep in a bit.. Dont be sad.. its actually nice also.. the older one will feel all special cos he can help out.. make him get the diapers, choose clothes for baby, etc. Thats wat I do with mine. DD is his little doll.. altho yea, sometimes DD gets a pinch also. If your DS sleeps with you, i suggest u wean him to his own bed soon.. 4 in a family bed is tight. If you can get a postnatal doula or any help atleast for the first 6 weeks for your body to recover from delivery and to help out, do so. U dont have to leave your DS with them, but atleast u can relax a bit. Now the DD is 4months, we go out.. a lot actually. And in Doha too. Dont worry too much,, its not good for you, your unborn or ur ds. Travelling is alright.. u jsut get to push the stroller a lot. The second child is easie cos u know all the tricks. We went travelled when DD was 2months old. It was alright. Of course, being spontaneous may not work.. but its fun. Everything will be fine.. yea u lose a bit of sleep inititally, but u will find your own routine what works for you.. and another 3-4yrs and it will be running to school routine. :) Oh and congrats on your pregnancy! :)

Depends if there is something else going on ie illness, fever or a complete change in routine. I have a freak second baby who sleeps from 7pm to 10am and usually every third day or so until 12pm. Doctors are not worried and she is healthy and thriving, apart from a few bouts of tonsillitis and strep this year only, but she has always slept that much. Can I have her????? mine wont sleep! :( OR rather wakes at 5:45!! :(

Sorry, but what does an osteopath do?? DS was totally normal delivery.. he literally flew out of me. Food wise, he isnt allowed to eat any sugar after 5pm and bedtime is at 6:45. Daddy doesnt feed him anything without asking me especially after 4pm. He has his own bed which is 1foot away from our bed and i do either sit next to him or lie next to him.. still takes an hour. Today was 55mins with me lieing next to him! And he was sooo sleepy.. his eyes would droop and then suddenly he wud fidget or something and keep himself awake! Grr! He has activities during the day.. he is at his cousins place in the day time, or we go out.. or i take him to a play area..or something...i dont overtire him cos i know its a nightmare to get him to bed.. yet, i do give him things to do, let him play in the garden i evening if we have had a day in, etc. Actually the whole bedtime routine is quite nice.. he has his bubble bath with his duckies while i feed and out dd to sleep.. then we play for abt 5min with the bubbles and then shower, brush teeth, he chooses his nightwear, etc etc.. its s whole 45min-1hr process which i think is plenty time to relax and unwind.. I dont get upset initially.. but after abt 45min i do get annoyed.. :( <em>edited by shaf on 25/06/2011</em>

oh we have tried not putting in the nap... and staying in at home so he doesnt get overtired.. but then he starts getting extremely cranky by 3-4pm and then gets very badly behaved, and its v difficult for me to manage him and another baby.. and then finally when he does sleep, he wakes up once or twice crying for me... and its a hysterical crying which takes an hour or so to cal him.. we have tried it for almost a monht or 2 without a nap.. dint work. And yea, he has a good long bath, brush, story etc wind up time before bed which he actually look forwards to.. and in fact getting him to bed is not a problem, its getting him to sleep thats the problem. I will settle for 12hrs of sleep.. anything less than that makes him v crnaky.. have experimented with 8hrs of sleep till 13hrs.. 12 hrs is best for him. he doesnt watch TV.

UK is PAL and US is NTSC.. or something like that. The conversion can be done using a CD or an adapter or something. There was a thread on it on the dxb forum. http://www.thegameforum.com/nintendo-wii-general-discussion/2467-wii-freeloader-ntsc-pal-pal-ntsc.html HTH

Hi babapapa, Good luck with the relocation, we had the same situation last year. We lived for 3 years in Dubai and last year moved to Qatar. Generally speaking Doha is quiet, boring and limited. Of course it is not the worst place to live but it is definitely worse than Dubai (this is my opinion). - It is easy to find a villa however this depends on your needs. Do not expect anything like AR or Springs in Doha, there is nothing close. There are some nice compounds with some facilities but the main problem is the lack of green (trees), landscaping, etc. You can check Beverly Hills compounds if you look for for some decent facilities. The rents are higher than Dubai: 4 rooms villa would be around 20000QAR/month. - Most of the scools have waiting lists. When we had moved in July last year all lists were too long and we could only find place in Newton British School. Anyway this year we had secured a place in another school. So it is better that you apply schools asap and wait. You can try Newton also (they always seem to have space) and put your name in the other schools lists. The fees are similar to Dubai. - It is easy to find nurseries however you have to decide after you move to your new place because driving will be a problem. - I find prices a little bit higher than Dubai. Supermarkets are limited (only one Spinneys which is not the same as in Dubai), only 3 main malls where you can do shopping if you can (overcrowded at the weekends). - It is much more quiet than Dubai, can say like Dubai 20 years ago. Looking at what I have written pls do not feel pesimistic and down. It is not bad but after Dubai you see/feel the difference of quality of life, it will be as if you are downgraded. Better to forget Dubai totally and start from scratch without comparing. I started laughing after reading your post cos thats exactl how I would say it. Except that I usually say Doha is like RAK 15 yrs back!! lol!!! If u like the buzz of dubai, dont bother with doha... atleast not till 2022.. ;) <em>edited by shaf on 16/06/2011</em>

do a home pregnancy test (you can buy them in any pharmacy, spinneys, carrefour) if it's positive goto hospital and ask for a scan to rule out ectopic I did and if my imagination didn't run away with me there might have been a faint line. I think I'm 6 days late today, so if it was a normal pregnancy the line should be strong. I had a trans-vaginal scan 4 days back as part of my normal check-up and it only showed the free fluid. So confused and definitely not ready for another baby. not really.. faint or strong doesnt make it a weak or strong pregnancy.. i did 3 pregnancy tests with my second child and all three were faint.. but she;s here now. An ultrasound will be able to show u if its ectopic or not... better to get that done soon and lower ur stress levels if u r indeed pregnant :)

Hi Ladies I am currently 29 weeks and since yesterday have started getting slight pains in the sides of my stomachs. Today it’s mainly in the right side and its can be quite sore at times. Has this happened to anyone else and do I need to be worried? My doc is away till Saturday so can’t see her but should I be worried or is this normal, I can feel him moving but it’s just so painful at times. Thanks ladies See your doctor..i had severe pains at 32 weeks, had continous braxton hicks.. turned out there was a small cyst or something and baby was kicking it :) Of course, baby is now a healthy 2yr old alhamdhuilah.. but best to get it checked soon.

Shaf I was just about to put out a message for you! I have found Zumba and the shop has it in both NTSC and Pal versions. It costs 229 dirhams but includes a belt (?). I am going back to purchase tomorrow or the next day. Do you want me to pick up a copy for you? It would be a lot cheaper on Amazon but if you can't wait ... ETA: the guys in the shop told me that the game box will have either a letter or a number on the front. If it has a number it is PAL and if it is a letter it is NTSC. Maybe the image on Amazon will be clear enough to see? edited by Embo on 14/06/2011 Oh I would love that! But I am in Doha!!! And will be coming to dxb only by August! i dont want to wait that long!!! :( Which shop is this?
