Thanks ladies, as Tania said "there's little excuse not to use them here". I can only get them online... eBay.com and they come from china. Some of them nice, some are not good quality. As I mentioned I have a blog. www.umhasoomi.blogspot.com and will be posting reviews of the types I use. I mainly asked those questions because I've been offered to sell diapers from a company in Dubai and wanted to know if anyone clothed their babies in Doha and if people liked the idea of buying good quality products directly from Qatar ? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks Which company umhasoomi? I've tried quite a few and this is what i think: TinyTush: I have 24 of them (2kids!).. simply the best! I had them aramexed from the US... cost me a bomb but worth it. BumGenius: Very good, but I found them a bit small for my son. Tinitots: Very small. My DS couldnt use it past 9months. Plus its plastic on the outside which was harsh on the skin near the belly. Plus you need to put another fleece liner over it which was just too complicated. Gdiapers: Too complicated plus leaks. Babycheeks: terrible leaks! also shape looks convenient but is not. hope that helps! :)

My DD has a facial hemangioma , it started to appear a couple of weeks after birth and now she is almost 4 months and it has grown quite rapidly. My Dr here advised to just let it run its course as in most cases they have gone in the first 2 years. i also contacted a specialist at the Childrens Hospital UK who requested pics of the growth and she replied saying that this was very common and she expected the hemangioma to grow until approx 8 months and then it will start to reduce slowly. We are not treating it with any medication , fingers crossed it will go away on its own. The surgeon mentioned they do not remove on small babies as the hemangioma is made up of so many blood vessels that the blood loss could be quite severe. I have now started to get the questions now aswell much to my annoyance of whats wrong with her????? random people in the mall popping their head in the pram and making a comment :( Did u go to GOSH?

Meals_ She is 15 months old. Does not like plain cereal as well :( Shaf- thats what I've been thinking. She usually wakes up at 6.00 for a bottle and up for the day at 7.00-8.00. Breakfast at 8.30, play, lunch at 11.30, nap, milk at 2.00, ( playdate or out and about by 3.00) fruit snack at 4.00, dinner at 6.00 and bath by 7.15 and off to bed by 7.45. Any schedule change suggestions are welcome as well. My DS is 22 months, and his schedule is like this usually: wake: 7:30 have milk and nuts, 10:00 breakfast 12:00 snack fruit only 1:00 lunch 2:00 - 3:30 nap Altho i am thinking of removing this as he doesnt seem to want to nap 4:00 milk (this is the only time he is allowed a junkie snack, ie marshmallows, cake, etc) 5:30 snack 6:30 dinner 7:30 bed (if he has napped, then 8:00 to bed) Hope it helps! I find that when I give him fruit about an hour before a meal he gets quite hungry by meal time..

Perhaps the timing is a problem? My DS wakes about 7:30 - 8:00, and I just give him milk and some nuts (cashew, almonds usually). Then he plays in garden for an hour and then bath at 9:30 by when he is quite hungry. So breakfast at 10:00 for him.

I had the same problem with my pregnancy. In fact when I was 6months pregnant, this random woman I met at the swimming pool told me how she lost her baby during the 6th month of her pregnancy! WTF?!?!?! Of course I told her point blank that she should use her brains before talking and that is not the kind of thing she should be telling a pregnant woman. If she was expecting sympathy, she dint get it! Anyways, I just want to let you know that labor is painful, but it isnt the end of the world. Majority of the woman in the world do it, so it cant be that bad also. In fact most women I meet are surprised that I still want to have more kids after going through a pain relief free labor! :D My first pregnancy, labor was long, and i was on my back and the baby was big according to the doc (3.7kgs, yea right!) and I think I was more traumatised by the stitches than the labor. My second pregnancy (7weeks back) was simply amazing. 3.2kg baby. 2 hr labor, delivered her in hand and knees position. No stitches. No pain relief. Perineum intact! I truly believe that because I was in that position, it was less painful and quicker. I highly recommend you read Ina May Gaskin;s Guide to Childbirth. I wish I had read it before my first labor, I am sure I wouldnt have taken so long or had so many stitches. My advice to you is, dont listen to those women. I feel sorry for those women that not one of them had a good experience for such a highlight of their life. Labor is painful, but if u concentrate on the pain and allow your body to do what it should, u can deal with it. Please please read that book. Ina May Gaskin has a lot of advice that really make labor shorter and quicker. The main ones I found useful was - Going on hand and knees during contractions - Opening the mouth wide (like you are roaring) during contractions - Telling my self that I will open wide enough to let LO out - Delivering on hands and knees Well I hope it helps! I hope you have a very short and beautiful labor :)

She's got almost all symptoms, arching back, crying after burping, hoarse voice, incessant crying.. :( I finally called a relative who works for NHS and got a prescription for Zantac and Motillium which also helps GER. Fingers crossed.. i hope she is better soon. I dont think peds here even know what GER is. It doesnt exist in Dubai for sure.

I have a friend that I would really like to help but not too sure where to start. She recently lost her baby half way through her pregnancy and has had to go through the trauma of giving birth and the funeral. As you can imagine she is very down to the point of being withdrawn. I’m really worried about her as I feel she needs some outside help. She still seeing her gynecologist but think she may need to see a councilor or someone who specializes in this area. Can anyone recommend where to go or who to speak to? TIA Also leave a msg for burnsie000, I think she can be of help.

My 6-week old DD has been crying so much past 2 days.. she doesnt feed much, and has very painful gas.. after a 5min feed she starts crying and when i burp her, she burps more than once.. or its a fart.. she is obviously in pain :( Have tried infacol and disflatyl both of which she dislikes ans tends to throw up. Gripe water seems to be working better. I am very careful with what i eat.. Not sure whats happening.. Think it could be a growth spurt? Any ideas what to do for gas when the above fails?

I am not sure if this is relavent, but i hope t helps. I just had a baby 6 weeks back and already have a 22month old. We all sleep together, however, its been very tight in bed, so we moved him to a cot jammed next to the bed. Its been very tough. He cries a lot. He wasnt sleeping enough, which meant i wasnt sleeping enough, it was a mess. He was so tired, and cranky, and tantrummy, and basically not at al my lovely little child. So past 2 days, i let him sleep with me, and then move him to the cot once he is asleep. It worked for us. He is sleeping better, is less cranky and tired, and i am getting a bit more sleep too. Moral of the story, i feel kids go thru some form of insecurity or discomfort which is why they behave the way they do. Something must be bothering ur child and u need to figure out what. I feel sorry for my son that i upset him so much trying to move him to a cot when he obviously isnt ready.. (also, thanks to tahm for posting video which made me realise I wont be cuddling him for ever after :)) Anyways, I hope u can sort it out :) edited by shaf on 28/03/2011

Having a serious panic attack now....24 weeks pregnant and still haven't selected a doctor. Went to Medcare the other day and was quite put off by the one hour wait and the awful smells in the waiting room and the receptionists constantly arguing with each other... Have now decided on the American Hospital but no idea of which doctor to go to....need some recommendations please. See for my thread on the amazing birth I had with Dr. Elsa at City Hospital 5 weeks back. http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=138041 No stitches, hands and knees delivery, amazing doctor :) Good luck!

MAC! I have used clinique, giorgio armani, loreal, rimmel, christian dior, always came back to mac. I use Studio fix powder. Select SPF for liquid (its less heavy). I already have oily skin, so "glowy" make up just make me look like an oil slick... but if u like they have their mineralize liquid foundation. And they have mineralize powder i think.

As the others have said - it depends on what you want and what you need - for yourself and for your family. We can't have it all. None of us can... not even our men-folk can. There are only so many hours in the day and we can only be in one place at once, so it boils down to where you set your personal priorities for this particular point in time. Where I grew up, there was a saying - "you work to live, not live to work"... so would your work fit in with what you want in your life? If bedtime is important, could you negotiate coming home earlier on certain days? I'm a SAHM with a very demanding career very much on hold - which isn't to say I'm sat at home twiddling my thumbs or letting my braincells go to mush. Keeping in touch with who we are as pre-children people is so, so important - it's about finding a balance. If you want to advance your career, absolutely go for it - for as long as you feel you're maintaining that balance. A happy mum, even one who is away for part of the day, is far better than an unhappy/ bored mum who's present 24/7. Your children will learn a lot from your behaviour and outlook regardless. HAK - I like u sometimes, i dont like u sometimes. But always like ur straight forward approach :)

So i've read up most of the threads about her, but none many seem to deal with her helping out with kids older than 12months. My 21month old DS still sleeps with us, and now that we have a 1 month old, its getting very cramped in the bed. While I am a great advocate of co-sleeping, i think its time DS moved to the cot or heck! even the couch! Think Cecile can help? Also, what exactly will she require from us? Cant really think of putting DS in a dark room and let him cry.. the crying is gonna last for more than a couple of hours for sure.. and besides, leave him alone in the dark... eeeks! Anyones?

*hugs* Think abt it this way... in another 2 years, u will be able to wear ur heels full time and be hands-free :) I just had LO2 last month and am already considering having another one soon much to my DH's horror. I am finding it damn tough with 2 kids (and this is with my mum around!), and i know 3 will be madness, but i think its better to have them all at one shot and then get my life going, rather than change nappies for the next 10yrs. And yes, hopefully they will all love each other and keep themselves occupied! Dont worry Lulee, I am sure u will be fine :) Besides ur older kid prolly will start school soon maybe? So then its just having 2 kids home in the mornings :)

Anyone here buys this brand? With my DS i did huggies initially before moving to pampers. With DD, i started pampers, but I feel it gives her rashes. So just for the heck of it I got Sanita Bambi cos it was a lot cheaper and it works! Am i imagining it or is Sanita Bambi actually quite nice? Any reviews? I am just a bit apprehensive because everyone I know only talks abt huggies or pampers and am wondering if there is soemthing wrong with sanita bambi..

Have you had chicken pox? If so, your 1mo will still have immunity from you (this is built up in the last few months of pregnancy, and remains for the first few weeks/months). As she is breastfed, she will be further protected. xx Yea, i had it 14yrs back. I really hope she wont get it. I'm keeping her isolated anyways. I think my 21month old is likely to get it for sure as he was interacting with help even yday morning before the bumps appeared. sigh!

Shaf, will it work even if my nipples aren't completely formed yet? They r supposed to work even for women with inverted nipples.. so i guess they shud work for you. When u feed, aim your nipple for the roof of her mouth, they latch easier then. BFing is going to hurt for the first 7-14days.. atleast thats wat happend for me both times. But dont give up yet, it will get better and u will be able to pop ur boob into her mouth in your sleep :)

The incubation period is 14 days before the first signs show. So your children have been exposed for quite some time. Ya i think my 21month is highly likely to have gotten it. Fingers crossed the younger one hasnt gotten it yet... she is usually in the room and only i handle her. But then I handle my 21month old as well!! Oh damn!

I delivered a few weeks back, and i was feeling the same like you, tired, elephant, etc, so believe me i remember it still.
