Oooh yes please Molly. I've contacted Nationwide and am waiting to hear. Think I may have problems as I've just started my own company, but any feedback on ease or complications would be great!

Off on a tangent - has anyone re-mortgaged their UK property while they've been over here? Any feedback?

Thank you H! I managed to get him into Urban Tails (who had 1 more room left next weekend if it helps anyone). So, I'm hoping he really enjoys his weekend (looks better than where I'm going in all honesty!) and I find him his adoptive home soon! Thanks so much anyway S

Pages and pages of men DR - after seeing it on EW I looked - the "official" FB page is now closed, but another one has appeared (with 9 "members" - ha!) and is picking up where the old one left off.....

Well it wasn't exactly a "spa"! The facebook page (now closed) made it very clear exactly what it was!

The FB page was absolutely horrific - and 100% advertising "services" with men asking for certain women, complaining that the photo's of the new girls weren't good enough and the girls were unattractive and making references to previous masseuses who had "given them a very happy massage" Toe-curling and very very sad.

MANAGED TO FIND SOMEWHERE! WE ARE SO HAPPY! Hi ladies, as you may know I've had a foster dog for the last 6 weeks. I need to board him for a long weekend, but EVERYWHERE is full. I feel awful doing it, but I was hoping to have him adopted into a new family by now and I've already cancelled 2 weekends away and my other half is going mad at me! I have managed to reduce the time of this trip from a week to a few days and he's not a happy chappie. Could anyone look after him from Thursday morning drop off (July 14th) - Sunday morning collection? (July 17th) He's a Saluki cross, is 10 months old and I've had him chipped, vaccinated, neutered, de-wormed, frontlined etc. He's probably the healthiest he could be at the moment and is housetrained. He's quite tall - and long! He's about 23k now and it's almost like he has a bit of a lurcher / greyhound in him. Much as he loves chimping about indoors (usually with a treasure he's found on the walk before) he's very happy chilling out and sleeping. When he's out he absolutely loves being with other dogs and playing. He can be a bit boisterous for the first few seconds, but then he's always the submissive one - he regularily gets "owned" by a tiny terrier on our walks. He's from DM and I've tried my best training wise with the limited free time I have - and he is gentle and affectionate and good with basic commands and good on a lead. He loves full on cuddles and watches films with me on the sofa curled up with his "arm" round me. If you could get back to me if you can help at all that'd be great - thank you! http://s1123.photobucket.com/albums/l545/ShellyMcDubai/ edited by ShellyMcD on 07/07/2011

Hi Rach71, Pingu is now on holiday and has had to put Peppa into the kennels I believe - I will try and find out which one. Obviously its FAR better if she can be fostered! I will PM you some more details, but she is 1 year old. Pingu has another dog and a 6 year old daughter - and Peppa is great with both - she's fine with cats too. Emailing you now! edited by ShellyMcD on 03/07/2011

There's a little shop next to Choitrams in the Greens where I get my scanning, colour printing etc. done sometimes if it's only a few pages - and I know they do binding too (will be very basic I think) Other than that, Fedex Kinkoss have been brilliant for printing larger amounts and they're all over Dubai - 04 390 8714.

Basil I've just done the very same and I found RAK freezone to be the cheapest. It all came down to the cost of renting "desk-space" which is unavoidable. Drop me an email and I'll give you my contact who helped me, although she is on holiday until the 11th. shelly _ stamford @ hotmail dot com

Oh good luck with your girl Pingu! My foster boy is great - he's flat out after a mega walk where we had a good old play with 4 other dogs. A teeny tiny (and very fruity) yorkshire terrier really took a shine to him ;-) I nearly had to piggy back him home after all the excitement! Think he has put a bit of weight on since these photo's too :-) Here he is everyone! http://s1123.photobucket.com/albums/l545/ShellyMcDubai/Boblet/

Yes I hear you Izzy . I was thinking along the lines of people that don't care if it's a pedigree or not if they want a 4 legged family member and will just crack on with all the trials and tribulations it brings. It was just a bit galling to see imported dogs up for sale for 12,000 AED when I'd come from DM "death row." There were several gorgeous puppies at DM - (thankfully on the other side of the "row" as they still had a few days grace). I know this problem is all down to @rsh0les not spaying and then abandoning when it suits them.....but I have to say that in my experience - rescue pets are incredible.

Oh Safa you star....Yeah frontline should only be used on pups older than 3 months I think, so you it's always gonna be a tough call on whether to do it or not when you're dealing with indeterminate ages. Sounds like you're in for a long night - I'm in the Greens if you need any respite. I posted on Animal Action (fb) earlier about how I made bl**dy tick die and go to a very hot place.

Bless you moo moo - can't believe you have 6 animals.. What can we (all of us) do to try and stop the import of "pedigrees" here in the UAE? I took my foster to be groomed on Sunday and there were puppies for sale for AED 12,000 there. There were some rather beautiful kittens too for a huge amount of money - and a couple of people were contemplating them... THOUSANDS OF DIRHAMS. As it goes, the groomers were great with my mutley and the guys doing the grooming aren't the money makers, so it fitted my purpose, but I won't be going back. We must be able to slow the import of animals here? Is selling even legal? It would assist in fostering / re-homing no end? Or am I living in a pink bubble?

I picked up an amazing boy from DM on Sunday (fostering him) Washed him with medical shampoo, frontlined him and you could see the ticks (he only had 3!) starting to give up the ghost. I just smothered them in butter (or vaseline is just as good) and rubbed them in a circular motion (I kid you not!) and they fell off......bleurgh disgusting horrible pointless things. My boy is chipped, jabbed and absolutely gorgeous - oh I do hope I can find him a permanent home - my new business kicks off mid month and I will have little time.

Mwah Evenstar - I don't even have children! If someone joining up knows what they're going into - and the possibilities - then good for them. My ex got the **** when he had to go overseas to somewhere that wasn't fabulous for "practice" ........his words were "not what I joined up for"......... I know people in the armed forces who couldn't tell you the names of world leaders - least of all their policies, yet they act them out. Controversial....just saying...... I wouldn't work for a company that did xyz..... Nevertheless, you HAVE to CONSIDER your child's choice.. (Talk bad about my family - and your days are numbered :-) - no military forces needed - (i jest) BTW evenstar - anyone could meet their maker tomorrow! edited by ShellyMcD on 30/05/2011

Evanstar that's great ALWAYS support your kids! My reply is a little bit, erm....been thinking about this thread since is started... The camaraderie I've seen in forces personel is incredible (for obvious reasons!) The career opportunities are broad and acknowledged worldwide So - why wouldn't you want the above for yourself as a young person and a parent? My cousin lost his leg in Khanahar a few months ago..... You might get run over by a bus tomorrow - so lets not worry about the "maybe's"..... The only thing that "gets me" a bit, is my ex forces chap (of 5 years - him always away with the RAF) when I sked about why he was where he was - (not him individually, the whole kick-off) - in a particular political situation (and I don't mean in a classified situation - I mean, someone told him to go and do something in a war situation) he accepted it. And did it......I didn't like that. Believe me I will war with anyone over something I believe in - but not over someone else's beliefs - and not when someone tells me to do so. ETA to get round a few glasses of wine and a new dog in the house: -) edited by ShellyMcD on 30/05/2011

One of the (many) reasons I left my old job was the b@ll ache I went through every time to get something printed - I had to get 3 quotes every time (not condusive to whizzy marketing turn-around stuff!). But in fairness to our clunky accounts department - you wouldn't believe the price variation on exactly the same spec from the 3 quotes. Some printers just see the bigger picture and will take a hit on a small job in the expectation/hope it will come good for both parties in the end.....i have a fabulous printer with exactly this mindset if anyone's interested....NO we are not linked! Well we are - he was my printer of choice when I used to work for an airport - so you can imagine my spend.....I emailed him to produce 500 business cards for my fledgling business this morning and he was straight back to me - all sorted, done dusted - helping me photoshop my logo......lovely man too :-) ETA: Waxmuch is 100% right - sometimes "my man" was a few AED higher than joe bloggs - but could I get it through to accounts that his can do attitude, willingness to help, availability at really odd hours, made him pretty much priceless! Nope! so.....I did one :-) edited by ShellyMcD on 29/05/2011

At times making the other know what their behaviour does to you is an eye opener for them. Breaking off is easy, but trying to find the best person whom you love and loved back in return is tedious.....May be he doesnt' really know the level to which you get sad by his words...if sharing your pain helps then do try once before parting. It has worked for a very dear frnd where the gurl used to pass off the cuff remarks thnking she was being very very open with her partner ...till she was told that it made him feel useless. She made sure she worked on her behaviour.... Bubble Trubble, I think these are very wise words. Not everyone has tough skin - although the OP's comment about "attractiveness" would cut us all to the core I reckon.

Oh :-( Looks like Mum has some sort of Munchausen Syndrome - if that makes sense? I'm afraid to say I think Mum lied to the papers and got daughter to go along with it. Speechless. There's still something deeply wrong with this whole story and/or the mum if she decided to tag along with this abhorrent tale just for fun (and money)... I mean, did she not even imagine where this would lead her family? It's hardly harmless. I 100% didn't say it was harmless - I think it's horrific. And no matter what has or hasn't happened it shows horrific standards of journalism/ sensationalism too.
