My LO completes one month soon (how fast does time fly!). I decided that I would like to breastfeed him for at least a year. I go back to work when he completes 3 months. I recently started expressing and introduced him to the bottle this past week. But every time i have to express, i start to panic because i worry if I'll be able express enough and that I may not be able to keep up to it for a year. For all of you who returned to work, and continued to breastfeed your children, can you please tell me how you all managed? Did you girls have a schedule on how often you expressed? Hi ladylee I breast fed my lo and also expressed. After 2 months i returned back to work. Now in the beginning when i was expressing it was not enough milk but after 1 month the milk increased. I had bought avent breast pump which was not good and eventually i rented hosptal grade rent pump which was brilliant. With avent it took me 1 hour and i was able to express only 80 ml but with hospital pump it went upto 300 ml and sometimes even more in the morning and during the day i expressed 150ml to 200ml per feed. Initially i pumped every 2 hours and after 2 months it was only after every 3 hours. So 5 times a day and sometimes 6. I dint express much at night to be honest but its recommended to express or breast feed if you can. Remember the more you pump or breast feed the more your milk supply will go up. I also took fenugreek capsules to increase my milk supply. I would highly recommend you to check kelly mom website which talks about how to increase milk supply and what foods to avoid such as parsley which can kill the milk supply. You are entitled to 1 hour break in addition to your lunch break of 1 hour. I used to breast feed lo in the morning before going to work and for lunch break i came back as well as my workwas very close by. During my work i also expressed twice a day as it took only 10 min to express milk. During my 2nd month i started freezing a bit of milk every morning and slowly it increased. But it was all a waste as it all got spoilt for me after 3 months. This was a weeks milk so i was very sad. I quit work after 2 months so i could breast feed only but it was to late as lo was used to the bottle and refused the breast. So i continued expressing and after 6 months stopped. Hope this helps

quick update.... long story short .... i lost my job due to them finding out i was pregnant :( and that i intentionally with-held it from them but on the lighter side of life i am still enjoying my prenatal pilates class, only gripe being the fact that its filled to capacity :( Oh so sorry to hear this dubai marina. Did you confront your colleague before they found out? Whats important now is that you enjoy this phase and take it easy. When i was doing theclasses i booked myself for the entire period so that i dont miss out on my class. It is annoying that the space is little and is always full but try to betheir on time so you can take a good spot :-) Take care S

Hi sherryd Reading your posts brings back memories of the sleep regressions issues we faced, as I mentioned in the earlier post. I can't comment on the food as we didn't have this problem but I did try increasing DD's intake of dinner to see if that would prolong her sleep and most nights she got grumpy which I knew was a sign of tiredness. Also, when she was waking at 4am-ish, she refused to take milk so I was guessing she was having enough food during the day. Like you, I was living a life of waking at 4am and having to hold her and shush her until she fell asleep and when I tried putting her back in the cot, of course she would wake. I couldn't fall asleep again and had to get ready for work. Eventually I found that no matter what I did, she would even refuse to fall asleep in my arms in the mornings. At that stage I sought some advice and almost everyone recommended brining her bedtime forward. So for the first week we brought everything back by 15 minutes and then the following week by 30 minutes so that she was being put in her cot to sleep by 6.30pm. This made a big improvement and she started sleeping through to about 5.15am. She also stopped waking up throughout the night. This age is difficult because not only can they be teething, they might also be ready to drop their afternoon nap. Our DD would drop her afternoon nap every second day for about 2 weeks before deciding to drop it altogether. By about 9.5 months she was having two naps a day. Finally the only other suggestion I can make is that if you haven't done so already, consider trying to sleep train her so she learns to fall asleep on her own. We did a mixed approach to controlled crying. I would sit with her and console her if she cried in her cot but didn't pick her up unless it was a distressed cry. Each day I would let her cry for a little longer and then as she got more comfortable laying in the cot on her own, I would stay out of sight but in her room until she fell asleep on her own. Eventually what ended up happening was that if she woke at 4am or so, she would fall asleep again without my intervention. Since about 10.5 months, DD has been going to sleep between 6.30pm to 7.00pm. She sleeps through the night without a break and if she does wake, she falls asleep on her own and within minutes. She usually wakes between 5.30am and 6.30am which is fine with us because we have an early morning routine with work commitments. In the past few weeks we have even got to the stage where we put her in the cot, say good night and then walk out and shut the door. These things take practice and lots of hard work. good luck : ) Hi M Thanks fir sharing your experience. I guess its a phase and will pass soon. I avoid picking her up and i am sleep training her though my heart breaks as cant see her crying. The good news is yesterday she had custard :-). She woke up at 1045 pm and i kept going shshs and at night she woke up just once more and a bit of shshs and she slept. Final wake up was at 530 am. This morning after a long time she had a bit of rice cereal. So there is a light and things r getting a bit better :-). This afternoon she ate a bit of avacado, banana mixed with butter squash, sweet potato and carrot. She ate like 4 tsps. This evening ill again give it a go with custard and after few days give her fish or chicken. Lets hope she continues to eat and sleep. Thanks a ton to you and all the ladies who gave me such great advices. Many thanks all :-)

Actually you can give whole eggs from 6 months (per current guidelines, they did used to say to wait but it turned out it didn't reduce the risk of egg allergy, in fact a recent study even showed an increased risk of allergy if waiting too long), and I do use whole eggs but you could just use yolks if you wanted to (seems like a waste of the whites though). I use regular cows milk, before 12 months it's ok to use milk in cooking and give yoghurt/cheese etc but it shouldn't be their main drink/replace milk feeds. If you are already formula feeding though formula would have more nutrients and less sodium than cows milk so it would probably be good to use, not sure if it would affect the consistency at all. (I breastfed so wasn't going to open a whole tin of formula or pump half a litre of breastmilk just to make custard, ;) ) edited by kiwispiers on 18/06/2012 Hi kiwispiers Thought id update you. I threw the custard which i kept in fridge as it was all green so mae it fresh without sugar and with formula and milk and egg yolk. It tasted good but dd refused to eat it. The minute i offered avacado and banana she ate it. This evening i tried to give avacado again but disguise the potato in it but she dint want. I guess she likes it only for lunch. She refused oats in the morn as well. In the later evening i gave her corn puffs which she happily had and raw apple which she likes to suck on. Last night she dint sleep well. She woke up at 4 am and till 445 had her on my lap and she slept. The minute i put her back to her cot she woke up. Today she slept by 745 pm. Lets hope that she sleeps well tonight.

I dint microwave as the first one was a disaster so made it on stove like i normally do. Now its in the fridge and will give it to dd tom for lunch. I hope she likes it. This evening i gave her avacado with apple and she dint eat. I gave her a slice of raw apple without skin since enjoys sucking on it. I guess she only likes avacdo with banana. Tom morn ill try to give her oats flavoured banana again and hope she eats it.

Hi sherryd, my dd is 8,5 month old and even though she is a very good eater she tends to stick to the same food in the evenings. I guess the more tired they are, the more difficult it is to feed them new food/textures etc. She is very adventurous in terms of food during the day but not when she is tired. Her routine is the following: wake up around 6:30am - 1 full bottle of formula little breakfast around 8am: Wetabix with some milk, banana pieces or porridge morning nap from around 8:30am-10:30am lunch at 11am: Veggies or veggies & meat with either potato, rice or pasta afternoon nap from around 2-4pm 1 full bottle of formula when she is up dinner at 6:30pm (can't do it any later as she would refuse to eat when she is too tired): she loves Holle 5 grain porridge or spelt porridge which I mix with her formula and some fruit bath with her older sister at 7pm 1 small bottle of formula before bedtime fast asleep by latest 8pm My older dd has always been a very difficult eater so I am pleased that dd2 is not (so far, I keep my fingers crossed!). But they both do not experiment with new food in the evenings. Maybe try to find some food that she likes / which is easy on the stomach and give it to her for dinner. And maybe introduce new food slowly and not something new every single day. Hope I could help a little. Good luck with it all & have a nice day Thanks germanbird. Every advise is useful and thank you for sharing your schedule with me. How much milk is she having every feed? My lo takes bottle 5 times as she does not like to take lot of milk at one time. For now this is her schedule. 530 am or whatever time earlier she wakes up she takes upto 150 to 180 ml milk. This morning she had 190 ml. Then she naps for an 1.5 hour after 1 hour of her first feed. When she wakes up she has anywhere between 120 to 140 ml milk followed by solid. Tried cereal and oats but she is not eating much so today i gave her apricot which she had a bit. I did not steam it and mashed it as she prefers mashed. She is not taking purees well. This morning feed was at 915 am. Then after 2 to 3 hours of waking up she takes another nap for an hour. When she wakes up she has milk followed by solid. This was today between 1230 to 130pm. Then she naps after 2 hours of waking up. Usually this is for 2 hours from 2 to 4 pm or 230 to 430pm. Thereafter when she wakes up she takes again 110 to 140 ml milk followed by solid. Then at 7pm she has her massage and bath and 730 her last bottle and she takes between 180 to 200ml and asleep by 8pm. Either her mid morning nap is for 2 hours or afternoon nap is for 2 hours. The trend so far is aft nap for 2 hours. In nutshell she has 3 to 4 hours of nap and 600+ milk. This evening i will try to give her Custard which kiwispers suggested and if she refuses then ill give her avacado with banana again i guess. Thanks again for your advise. I think in a day or so ill try fish and give it a break with chicken for sometime.

When DS is off his food I make him homemade custard, basically I add 3 eggs to 400 ml or so of milk, blend well, microwave for about 5 minutes add a banana and blend again. This is a good source of protein and easy on the throat/teeth. He's just had a cold and I've added blueberries to the mix as well to give him some extra vitamins. At least you can feel like they are having somethng healthy, even if its not meat and vegetables. You can freeze whatever she doesn't eat. Ignore about the egg thing, in custrad its always egg yolk and i dint reliaze :-) Between this afternoon i tried giving her chicken and she refused, then i tried rice cereal which she used to love and again she refsued. Then i gave avacado and banana and ofcourse it did the magic and she ate. So im thinking maybe i should blend some chciken in avacado and banana? Dont know if she will like it.

Sorry when you say milk you mean formula correct and not cows milk? For eggs only the yolk correct? I believe white should not be given till 1 year of age. In regards to sleep normally she does not wake up. Only for the past few weeks she is waking up every hour but falls back to sleep as soon as i tap her a bit. Day before yesterday she was wide awake at 445 am and today at 515 am. A bit of improvement. Also last night she woke up twice and after taping slept. The other day she woke up three times. Lets hope tonight it gets even better. I will keep you posted

well you said 5:45, which is too early for me :), and mentioned her being a bad sleeper, does she not normally wake in the night at all then? If she normally sleeps right through and its simply been just 3 nights of night waking and off her food then I would probably assume she actually has a virus/sore throat etc and just be kind to her in the night rather than rushing to change milk, diet, routine etc. Hopefully she will be back to normal in a week or so. Yeah she has been sleeping till 530 and 6 am everyday and waking up at night. Wish she could sleep longer but she is any early riser..Only for past few days she is waking up every hour and wide awake between 445 and 545 am. I did some research on sleep regression and think thats what it is. Maybe i just need to be patient for a week or so and see if she gets back to her normal self. Ps tried feeding her chicken this evening ( puree of apple, carrot, chicken and peas) she refused. Will never force feed her so just hope she strats eating properly again

I buy salmon tail fillet as it tends not to have bones and I wrap it in tin foil and bake in the oven (with olive oil, fresh herbs, lemon zest etc). I agree, would definitely try moving bedtime earlier, you might still have nighttime wakeups, although hopefully less as she won't be getting that second wind (when she is tired at 6:30 then wakeful at 7, her brain is releasing chemicals to keep her awake as you are giving her cues that its not bedtime just yet, those chemicals can affect night sleep). I would try putting her to bed by 7 for a week, and keep a record of her wakings for that week, just to see what happens. Between she was sleeping fine before. Hence btwn 8 and 830 pm and waking up at 6 pm. Its only since past few days there has been so much disturbance. Would changing her bed time really help? Sorry if im questioning the same thing to much. Would she not be hungry in the night? For now she is having 600ml + milk everyday and whatever solid she is taking.

Hi Sherryd - I agree with the ladies - sounds like it could be a combination of sleep regression and/or teething. If she is tired around 6.30, perhaps that is the time to get her to sleep for the night? She might be overtired by 8pm...My DS has always been asleep by 7pm (sometimes earlier at that age) and our bedtime routine would begin around 45 min prior. This involved calmer play/reading book etc followed by bathtime, story/lullaby, milk in darkened room and then bed. I would try not to have any naps after 4/5pm and 3 hours of naps should be enough at this age. Also if she is waking super early, try and treat it as a night waking still - soft shhing/patting etc. If you go in and act like it's morning she will expect to get up. For us, anything before 630 was still night time lol. Even now if he wakes earlier he's quite happy to play in his cot until I get him at 7am. If she is not eating so well perhaps offer more milk before bed or even a hungrier baby formula? Not sure if this will help, but I've had friends with bad sleepers who found this helped them as a certain level of satiety seemed to get them into a deeper sleep. You can also try red meats, my DS loved pureed lamb and vegies at that age, or try pureeing some fish like salmon. I was always surprised that my LO loved the stronger flavours. I also used to mix avocado with other fruits - he loved it with pear cooked in a bit of cinnamon. At that age I used to give protein at lunchtime and then at night mainly veg/fruit with some small baby pasta or rice. Mainly simple food at night that wouldn't be too heavy on the tummy. Between for salom i was thinking ill steam and give it as finger food. What do you suggest?

Hi sydneygal thanks for the suggestions. What is hungrier baby formula? Right now she is having s26 ha. For her last feed she is having 180 ml milk. This aft i tried to give her butternut squash with pear which she used to like but refused it completely. So i gave her avacado and banana again and she ate it happily. Ill give her avacado for next few days for lunch i guess and try again with chicken after. Morn ill give her fruit puree as she used to love apple and pear. Now she is avoiding cereal. Well eating a bit and not to much. Normally when she is waking im tapping and doing shshsh but anywhr brwn 445 and 530 when she wakes up its difficult to make her sleep again as she strats saying dadada or at times crying. At 630 she starts rubbing her eyes and when she is in her bath at 7pm she is wide awake and loves playing in the water. Around 730 she starts getting tired and thats when she takes her bottle. I already moved her bedtime from 830 to 8 and scared she will not take it well if i keep changing it. For fish, ill buy salmon. Can you advise a good reciepe i can try out? Any particular salmon?

Have you noticed any other changes? Waking at night all of sudden and refusing food all of a sudden might be something as simple as teething. They lose their appetite when teething. Other signs are normally things like shaking their head ( as if saying no), rosie cheeks, biting on anything and everything and random crying. If you think teething is the cause of the problem invest in some Dr Sheffields teething gel - Amazing! It may not be teething but babies do go off their food for all sorts of reasons. One day they eat the next they don't - it is perfectly normal for them to do this from time to time so please don't worry. All you can do is keep trying and she will eat when is is hungry and wants too. I know it is alarming when they refuse food continuously but it is unlikely anything to worry about. As you said she loved the avacado and banana therefore it is more than likely her just deciding she doesn't like something. You will find that happens a lot - One day they eat something and can't get enough of it and the next they refuse to eat it, if you go back to it a few days later they may eat it again. If she is refusing the spoon you may find it easier to get her to eat finger foods. At 7.5 months the experts say 2-3 hours of naps a day should be enough but every baby is different and if she is sleeping more it is because she is needing it. The only thing I could suggest is bring forward her bedtime again - unbelievable that an earlier bedtime usually means a better nights sleep. My DS is 16mths and is still a terrible sleeper and a 5am riser. He has never really slept through the night for long periods at a time. Some babies are just bad sleepers. I know that doesn't help at the moment but I do feel you pain and hope it imporves quickly. If it doesn't improve then there are plenty of sleep therapists out there but most of them use methods that not every mother is comfortable with. Good luck! Hi lynney I dont think she is teething yet but whenever she does i will definately buy the gel you recommended. From the very beginning she never took pacifier and chewed on bunny that i gave her. Like you said she will want to chew on everything when she is teething so will watch out for the signals. I give her finger foods such as carrot , corn rings, buiscuit, whenever i am eating something. The only thing she is eating well for 2 days now is avacdo and banana. I will give her some butternut squash and pear this afternoon to see if she eats that properly. She was eating this real well before. This morning gave her oats but she had only little. Glad she ate a bit atleast. I guess if she refuses other food i will continue with avacado and finger foods. From the beginning she has been sleeping late like 8 ish and i heard about earlier bedtime and sleeping through the night but i guess just like your lo she is a bad sleeper and will not sleep through the night. DD gets sleepy after every 2 or 3 hours so naps and specially around 630 she starts to get tired. I just hope she get back to her normal routine and starts eating again properly. I guess being a first time mother, i am always worked up about everything.. Thank you for your advise and glad to know i am not alone.

Hi sherryd We went through the same thing with our DD at this age. I remember posting about it and asking other ladies the same question as you are now! There is something called the 8 month sleep regression - Google it to learn more. There is also the issue of teething and side effects can include constant waking and poor appetite. We found with our DD that every time she has a tooth coming through. Check with your doc though if her appetite doesn't return. Thanks M. Good to know this is normal. I did read about sleep regression before but was not sure so thoguht id get advise on the forum. The doc felt she was teething but was not sure either. I just hope this phase passes soon as more than me its disturbing for lo to keep waking up every hour. Once again thanks for reverting back to me

Hi dubaimarina I was initially staying in dubai marina as well and media city is fairly close :-) I did pilates in the evening with the instructor called . She is indian i believe and very nice. Goodluck and i am sure you will enjoy it :-) thanks sherry d, i popped in at zenyoga last night to enquire and spoke into the prenatal pilates instructor and she explained me benefits of both pilates and yoga and said their is only one prenatal pilates instructor in dubai media city and that is her. But she is not indian....so i'm not sure if its the same person u went to. She looks persian to me and from her family name i know she is Persian as i am half persian. All i know is her first name is Salma. So pls let me know if its the same person or not as i would prefer to go to someone whose reccomended. Boumboum , they don't have classes with Laura at dubai media city for prenatal yoga:( so guys i need other reccomendations as their are 4 prenatal yoga instructors to choose from. the only thing that put me off a bit at zenyoga are their prices. now i know classes are 75 minutes but how can they justify charging so much for a GROUP prenatal class??? Is this normal practise in dubai to overcharge for fitness??? As a newbie i really can't fathom the exhorbitant costs or am i making the first sin of expat life and comparing prices to "back home" today i want to go check out Club Stretch and see the cost of the bikram yoga and see if u can do it while pregnant because i did it once back home and it was awesome. Is there anyone who has done bikram yoga while pregnant??????? please let me know as bikram will be my first choice over pilates. thanks in advance and have a good day <3 Hi dubai marina Yes her name is Salma. The annoying bit about zen yoga is that overcrowd. But from what i recall after certain number they dont take any more. In regards to bumping into your colleague it is a tricky one. Depends on how close you are to her. Is she the sort who will spill the beans? If yes then id suggest you speak to your boss before he gets to know through anyone. If you can confide in your colleague then speak to her andhopefully she will understand being pregnant herself. Hope everything works out for you

For my first baby, i had impressions of his hands and feet set in plaster made and then set in a lovely little frame with his name and details. It was done professionally and looks great. Does anyone know where i can get this done here for my new baby girl? I don't really want to use those Baby art DIY kits you get in all the kiddy stores. Would appreciate any help as i have looked and asked everywhere! Yes we got it done for dd from a lady called Natasha who lives in victory heights. She charges 800 dhs per cast which includes mounting and professional Framing with personalised name and date. It is so worth it really. We absolutely loved it. Her number is 0506150054

I don't know which brand of floor cleaner we use, let me text the maid. Oh my goodness (in a mad panic) I don't have time for a mani pedi before going away for the weekend (totally forgetting that it is actually possible to paint one's own nails!?) Similar panic happens when hubby has no shirts ironed for work, the maid isn't due for 2 days and the laundrette is closed for the day. Yes it is too much hot outside (when speaking to those who do not have English as first language) Lol

We will have a budget of 170,000 AED for annual rent. Our third baby is due end of August and we are possibly moving to Dubai before I give birth (If everything fits into place). We would like a 3+ bedroom with a maids room if possible. Having space to run around is very important to us for our children (Easy access to parks/garden etc). Can anyone recommend where would be a good location to look for either and the pros and cons of Villa compared to apartment living? Villa for sure anytime with this budget. We were staying in an apartment then moved to villa in springs. Therefater again moved to 3bd apartment as felt dewa bills were high in a villa. Though the space was enough it still felt small with a toddler and a nanny so moved to villa again in umm suqeim. Absoltely love it. We are staying in a compund and it is nice to have kids playing around. Another advantage of this area being there are loads of nurseries and shools around. It is very central so close to moe and downtown. Thanks xx

Please remember your daughter has to live with her name forever. I cannot imagine how I would have felt if I had been called Tiara. Also try it alongside your family name to see how it sounds. There was a girl at my school called Ivy Dunnit...... The traditional names are now becoming the unusual ones as people compete to find wierd and wonderful ones. agreed. a friend of mine named her daughter Tiara and im sure thought about it properly before keeping the same.

Just had 20 week scan and looks like babykiwi is going to be a girl. DH and I are struggling a bit as the girls names we had picked last time around have all been nabbed already by family members in the meantime. Anyone like to share their favourite girls names..... Hi kiwispiers We named our daughter Maya and in sanskrit it means creation/magic and arabic it means water :-) I also like the name serena, rose, emilia, amara.

if she is pushing foods out with her tongue she probably still has the tongue-thrust reflex and isn't physically ready yet. I would stop for a few weeks and just let her play with food in her hands etc. Otherwise you run the risk of her forming a negative association with food which could last a really long time and be a nightmare for you both. Introduction to solids should be fun for your baby, not scary and unpleasant. Kiwispiers u always have such great advices :-) Lulee i heard from dr delphine as well that if baby is not taking solids well then just keep few steamed veggies or banana in front of her. Let her feel it and play with it. I also heard that if you eat the same thing in front of her she may react better to it

Again...a quick and superficial search, but here are the first few links that came up: http://tiny.cc/9t87dw http://tiny.cc/7v87dw http://tiny.cc/kx87dw http://tiny.cc/tz87dw Some say they are safe, some not...but there's some information to ponder. I'm a firm believer that we can't cotton wool our kids from all of the risks and hazards out there, but we can make sure we are as informed as possible and try to make the best decisions we can based on the available information. Hi Green-ish Thank you for taking out the time and doing some reserach on this. You have convinced me and i will no longer be buying the jumperoo. I did go to ace and bought some foam mats and dd hates it for now as she is to use to the bed, her cot or the mama and papa play mat. Having said that i still make her sit on it and sit next to her so she starts getting used to it. Lets hops for the best. She is very active and her legs feel quite strong and sometimes i feel she may start walking before crawling :-)

SherryD, when my DD was 6/7 months I bought those big foam play mats (from Ace) and put a few different toys on them for her to play with. Some soft toys, some noisy, some light up ones.... I found that the more musical the better in DDs case. The foam mats were strategically placed in the centre of the room so DD still felt she was part of the action even though she was not getting direct attention. Worked for us, now we have moved villas and DDs mats with toys are over in a corner, she quite happily toddles off there and plays herself. I contemplated a play pen but decided to put a stair gate on the stairs and make sure we closed the door to the kitchen and other rooms so she has maximum space to walk about/play. I also feel that the jumperoo benefited DD rather than hindered her. She just wanted the freedom at 7 months when she wanted to crawl everywhere. Notheragain with the foam mats you did not put any gates around it at all? I was thinking more to place the mat in the centre but closer to the wall and make a big area there. I am going to ace tom so will check out the foam mats. Thank you for the suggestion. I read some positive feedback on jumperoo as well before so dont think its all that bad. I know walkers and bouncers are really bad for baby spine development.

We had a jumperoo type thing that hung from the door frame from Mothercare - only around 150 dirhams. DH LOVED his from around 5 - 7/8 months and probably would have used it longer but he was too heavy for it! He loved being active in it and jumping up and down, and also used to kick balls with us in it...hilarious. I do think it helped strengthen his legs - they are super strong and he started walking solidly at 11 months, but this could just be when he was going to walk naturally as well. Hi Sydneygal Thank you for your feedback. I have heard about the mothercare one as well and still thinking of buying the fisher price rainforest and if i do decide then ill look for second hand as dd will probably use it for 2 months or so. Lets see

Hi Ladies, On the jumperoo - I think they are great and my LO absolutely adored hers but I do agree, after about 7 months she did lose interest when she started crawling because she wanted to be free to move above and not restricted to a single toy. I definitely think the jumperoo helped strengthen her legs and I don't see any harm in using them in moderation. My LO used to have around 5-10mins in hers at a time and she would happily just 'hang' in hers and play with the toys. She loved it because she felt active in it rather than just lying down all day. I have one if anyone would like to buy it so as to save money because it will become obsolete by the time your LO is crawling. Thank you Natashak I had read the same yesterday that jumperoo helped kids strengthen their legs but not sure if there is any point in buying one now after reading everyones feedback. Need to think about it. In the event i do decide to buy ill buy it second hand as she would use only for another monthor so im guessing. How much are you selling yours for?

Hi sherryd...things do get a whole lot more challenging around the six months mark! :D Is there a particular reason you want a playpen? Would it be possible/practical to make a larger area safe for her to explore then use doorway and stair gates to block off rooms you want her to steer clear of? On the jumperoo...have you read much about them? All of those gadgets that help young babies sit, stand and bounce get them doing things before their bodies are developmentally and physically ready - many experts believe they are not good for babies' hip and spine development. Six to twelve months is a tough phase for the little ones as they become aware that they can move and they want to get moving and exploring...but they tire easily and get frustrated by their physical limitations. Thank you green-ish for the advise. I did some reading yesterday on jumperoo and it was all positive but you have given me the scare so not sure if i want to buy it anymore. Can you suggest how to keep a 6 month old toddler entertained? I thought playpen could be helpful more like a big baby den where lo can play with toys, roll over etc..

Hello ladies Lo is 6 months old and she is getting bored with swing and play mat and needs more entertainment. I am looking into two things for her 1 a huge playpen that can last her for long. Any recommendation where i can find one or is anyone selling ? I saw in ace and just kidding but its fairly small i feel and is useful only for few months i believe. I believe online i can buy but prefer to get it from dubai as soon as possible. 2: i was thinking of buying this weekend jumperoo rainforest from fisher price for her. Can you share your experience with this. Is this better or is the baby einstein activity and discover centre better? SherryD, i wouldnt bother with a jumperoo. DD loved hers from 4-8 months.... once she started crawling she wasnt interested in being "contained" in anything. Its quite expensive (around 600Dhs) for a few months entertainment. RE: playpens. I saw one in babies r us that was either a pen or a room divider. have you got a section of a room that can be divied off to give your little one more space? Hi notheragain I stay in a villa and was thinking of buying huge play pen for upstairs area as well as a medum size one for living room area. In the living room i have made some space so dd can play. At present she is on the swing or on the play mat. However the playmat wont last for long as she keeps rolling over and im scared she will bump her head on the floor.

hi there i did mine with a lady called elizabeth driver who conducts ante natal claases in her villa in barsha. she was initially head nurse in welcare hospital where i recently delivered. also with elizabeth you need to pay only when you attend the session. hence you could choose the sesiions you would like to attend. i personally enjoyed the classes and it was definately very informatve. we were a small group and she always had cookies and juices for each session :-) i also did pilates which is very helpful but ante natal classes give you lot of information which you may not be aware of otherwise. it is definately worth it..

Thanks pancakemum. I heard about Dr. Nicholas although the medical center I know is in the Emaar 6 towers on the walk. Is Dr. Delia there everyday or does she share her time between the different centers? I also heard about the meadows clinic... Is there anyone good there?
