HelloAgainKitty - he does seem to be dribbling and pulling at his ears, I ruled out ear infections as I just got him checked last week and he seems very happy and content when he is up. I have an amber teething ring around his chest as it is meant to have anti-inflammatory properties which are meant to help with teething but not totally eliminate the pain. It could actually be that. At this stage, I am just giving him what he wants at night, I just don't want to fall into the feeding to sleep trap. I am trying to structure his day a bit but at night, I just assume if he's up, he wants to feed and then straight back to bed. I guess if he gets really grizzly, I could try Calpol. Just a silly question, is Calpol paracetamol for babies? I am guessing it is. We don't have Calpol back home but might be called something different. calpol is baby paracetamol :)

Hi shjbelle, I am giving some formula in the day now. She was refusing it until very recently. I have been too lazy to do formula at night but I will try to give that a go now. I keep wondering about doing a formula dream feed at 10.30/11 (when I say me, I of course mean my DH!). I'll give it try. Thanks that's what time i give DD her dreamfeed.. just b4 i sleep at 11 pm.. :)

what is your routine for bedtime? DD is nearly 1 yr and her routine has been the same as before. a lil dinner, bath, and oiled down. do you swaddled your LO? DD was swaddled til she was 7 mnths, to prevent her sudden jerks which will wake her up. I know some mums will say oh my lil one is strong and her hands will come out blah blah blah.. DD was the same. so when i give her night feed, i re swaddle it back. I also give her the dummy and my used pyjamas so that she can 'smell' me.

oh my.. pls don't teach OP the 'angry ladies' technique.. look, if you want to be with this guy forever, you really need to have a word with him and say that this non talking is totally wrong. you have to be 'one' and talk it out. if he doesn't want to change, then you prolly need to have a re-think of this relationship of yours...

oh yeah... it's coz Jumeirah bought that whole area and so they are rebranding it. such a shame coz i got married there... :( i bet it will be super expensive when they re-open it. Does that mean the Irish Village is closing as well, and will re-open as the Irish Souk? i didn't hear that bit.. that the IV is closing as well..

Thanks for the info, Shjbelle - that'll turn it into a completely different thing, of course, what a shame. We've only been a couple of times since we arrived, but I was looking forward to going again in the winter.. Eva B., they're having a grand farewell dinner next week-end. I think we're going to have to go for a last brunch, myself :) Really love the Saffer (Saffy?) brekkie. This should give you all the info: http://www.aviationclub.ae/news/254/ nnooo next week is their farewell dinner?? just as we will be in al ain!! *sob*

Yes ac has to be maintained by staff who know how to refill gas and replace a compressor etc if it goes warm , but cleaning of the vents etc is a wipe down, cleaning of filters etc on the roof is a job of hosing down lol and u pay a few hundred Dhs to watch someone with a dirty cloth wipe it down. Ducts etc has to be sanitised. A tool time manager actually told my husband how to do it ...our ac never smells etc and we never have any probes with it as we clean alot more than other people. We use to be calling guys out every two months due to smells etc ... I've seen friends house s with their filters up on the Walls full of dust ,yuk that dust is blowing around the room every time they switch it on. how do you sanitse the ducts? are you talking about the spilt system or window ac or central ac?

Lucky man, he gets to stay out all night and has a nice quiet house to himself! I'd probably keep the kids at home all day, and make sure they would make as much noise as possible! Glad he is home safe though! agree with Jag here.. after all that whole night worrying for nothing ( the least he cud have done is to send you an sms) you should go out pampering and shopping BY YOURSELF! you deserve it!! :)

it is a regular album, but since he is already pulling it to pieces, I would reccommed that a better way would be to glue the photos (or just colour printouts) on top of the pages of a cheap thick card paged baby book to make it more durable. ok thanks!! :D

One more tip, its not one of the "official" ones but I am currently teaching my 1 year old to talk and have made him a little photo album with photos of our family, extended family and also everyday objects (ball, flower, teddy, car etc), I find it really useful and he pulls it out all the time and goes through all his words even by himself, worth a try? Make sure you include words he already knows to help build confidence. Sorry to jump in.. DD is turning one soon so this is a very good tip, thank you. may i ask is it pasted onto like a scrapbook manner? or a photo album itself? S

I have been married 22 years and travelled extensively alone and with friends but without my husband. Likewise my husband has travelled without me. We have lived apart for solidly for 2 years and a few month together and a few months apart for 5 years before that. Does this mean that he, and or that matter I, must be a cheat? As far as the OP DH, if he was going to cheat he wouldn't need to go away there are plenty of opportunities and willing partners in Dubai. And if, perchance this trip was for cheating, he would have put a lot more effort into making it seem otherwise by saying it was with a group of lads or a tour group. I hope Mr.Candyfloss has great time at the football and Mrs. Candyfloss enjoys her gifts. *like* :D

perhaps when you swaddle her, make sure the room is cool. otherwise, just wear her a short sleeve romper and swaddle her. I remember DD was not easy to swaddle at first. what i did was to only put it on her when she was 3/4 sleepy.. lol.. and i turned down the ac to make it cooler. oh with regards to the flying bit, i strongly suggest a night flight. it will be easier as it is your first flight out with your little one. Maybe it's just gas that she has and is not feeling comfortable. Is your little one swaddled? it does help alot. Does she have a dummy? I don't believe in this but some ladies will advice to darken the room. Put on soft background classical music/nursery rhymes.. my DD doesn't sleep long in a really quiet room lo Try all that.. if it doesn't work, then come back ok? Good luck S

Shjbelle they say that we have to finish the course with them or pay them in full. My argument is that he never started with them due to their failure to deliver what they had promised. Chocs01, we were planning to pay as we went which is why we only paid a deposit at the 1st company. The 2nd company was our last resort and seemed to be better on service. Do you think it would be better for my husband to go to the head office and if they refused to help over the phone, will this even help? Yes, it is an RTA file they are making us fight about. Thanks Barbie Doll - it's all a money making racket clearly. And something shocking I have just seen - on the website of the 2nd school is a link to the first one!!! What does that tell you? ETA Thanks DP, have mailed you. xx edited by Aryanwynn on 07/08/2011 i think if it is never stated in black and white that you have to pay the full price b4 starting a price, it will be your words against theirs when you go to report that they demanded the full amount. but try with the other lady first..if not, straight to the coppers..

What we want is his RTA file so he can get his driver's through the second school. If we lose our AED680 deposit there we don't care since it is clearly not a reputable school. It really irks me since most of the clients are poor people with no voice and this is obviously how they are used to treating people! and is this company not giving this file to you? what did they say?

what a waste of time.. just bring all the paperwork and go to the coppers!!! Are you serious? I mean I would do that, but what do I say? I'm not sure if this school is government based which is why the RTA agent said he cannot help. if the govt does NOT allow laborers to work during a certain timings in the summer, i am sure it is certainly illegal to get a child to wait in the hot sun for long and NOT turn up. Is it in the contract that they pick your child up? i suppose it depends on what you want from the company. your refund? ETA: also, today's news..you are not allowed to name and shame.. it's illegal..so everything I suppose is now directed to the coppers? :D edited by shjbelle on 07/08/2011
