is it a night flight? it's best and easier if it is.. yes, it's better to feed LO for take off and landing.. you can ask for hotwater in flight.. if you get a business class seat, you will get better service for stuff like water immediately. make it as normal as possible.. like when i flew with DD when she was 2 months alone, it was a night flight, i brought along her swaddle and dummy and her sleeping blankie. you will be fine.. don't worry.. With pregnant ladies, do eat and drink discreetly. at a closed door coffeeshop. please don't eat in the toilet, it's simply gross. You can drink in your car. With kids, there is no such thing as they have to eat/drink discreetly. And also, please please please don't feed them in the toilet. I have seen an arabic child eating openly in car4 while his mom is doing their grocery shopping. NO one is their right mind will tell a child off for eating or drinking in public. :)

I agree with MommyOficially. Your husband has to be all hands on deck esp during the first 2 weeks. also, you must have someone, a mummy, whom you can call at anytime to ask for help as you will have loads of questions. otherwise, just post a question here and there will be loads who will answer and help :) I didn't have a maid, still don't. But DH was really helpful, still is. Good luck S

the one point which made me decide which hospital to give birth was because of my gynae. I cannot stop recommending her. Dr Andrea from International Modern Hospital. Not for you if you like the ones that hold your hand and stuff, she's very direct and won't tell you stuff if you are not suffering from it. She will not recommend unnecessary operations/medicine unless you really have to. S

Well that's the danger of the media all over the world - too many (not you personally) take it for gospel truth without proper delving first. Add to that the translation issues and there's bound to be confusion - that's why whatever statement/law does come out needs to be perfectly clear and simple! Anyway, keep up with the facebook page to see any updates! https://www.facebook.com/BuckleUpInTheBack is this your page? if it is..then I know who you are :) i hv ur sticker at the back of my car!! I'm so totally for this *hopefully new statement to be passed as a law* in UAE!!

I have had an arabic translation on some of the proposal - and the officer himself is quoted: Al Nuaimi [b'>called for[/b'> the implementation of laws passed by Britain for mandating child car seat/seatbelts on vehicles taking children's age and weight into consideration. "As children vary in height and weight, seat belts must be used for all children under 135cm or weigh less than 36kg He ''called for'' the implemnatation of laws - he has not brought in the law. If you read all the press articles that have been released today you will see how they differ in their headlines. :\: just shows how our local media plays with our mind... or rather..do they actually know what are they reporting? tsk tsk tsk

Shjbelle - there have been a lot of similar stories today ranging from the draft message to the it's law. It is NOT yet law - the Gulf News have talked about the installing of car seats but it is NOT yet law - I wish it was and I'm hopeful it will be soon but not today. http://www.emirates247.com/lifestyle/travel/uae-issues-new-law-on-children-s-car-seats-2011-06-27-1.404786 if you say that's not a new law..i don't know what it means then... edited by shjbelle on 27/06/2011

Oh DH is a typical subcontinental male. He works so he should not do the night shift.... apparently. even on weekends? I don't know the full story, but I let my DD cry for that couple of minutes just before she nods off to bed.. it was difficult at first, but once I know that DD was in no harm and I was the one in control, it got easier. oh.. tell ur DH, he ain't the only husband in the world who works.. it is BOTH parents job. so..you start with him on weekends, say that you too need a break. with MIL, hhmm... just say yeah sure then walk off.. and close the door in her face? :D S

Should we or should not wear the bra while sleeping? Im breastfeeding, yet I dont feel like wearing it at night!!! oh gosh.. i miss sleeping w/o a bra!!! i find it sooo... annoying!! saying that.. i've been sleeping in my b/feeding bra ever since DD was born (9 whole months now) and that's the only reason I can't wait to stop bfeeding!! I can't sleep w/o my bra now..as when i feed DD, the other one will definitely leak!! not that I feed her at night..but when I'm ssoo sleepy in the mng (7am)..i don't think i can be bothered to wear a bra first b4 feeding her..lol

Hi ST, Why don't you BF her for bed and formula top up for dreamfeed? Also, why don't you leave her your jimmies to 'sniff' too? Perhaps your DD just wants you to make her sleep better..that's what I do to my DD, for comfort..that way I can get up and do my stuff with her still having my 'smell' with her? S

Agree with SwissGirl! It's quite condescending to take the line of "it's their culture, they don't understand" etc. etc. Many DO understand - they speak excellent English and understand completely that they are being downright b!tchy. It comes across as pure bitterness from where I stand. Once I was called fat by a shop assistant in MOE - she had a good smirk on her face too - I turned around and called her fat right back, and that wiped the grin right off her mean old face. whoa!! i shud try that... if i'm ever being called FAT!!

sorry to jump the thread.. however, a midwife told me that this less nap time in the day does not equivalate to them sleeping longer at night... in fact, if you let them sleep more in the day, they will sleep more at night.. I don't know..i have no specific timetable for DD for nap times, when she's tired, she will sleep.. the only thing i'm strict about is her bed time which is at 7pm... :D

Just back from my first scan... Had tears rolling when I saw the tiny pulsating sac... Was so relieved to finally see that so I could start believing that I'm really preggers and not just hallucinating! Doc says I'm 6weeks 2 days and so far scan shows the same... Just so exhausted now... Please keep praying that all goes well during my trip to Sweden... Will msg back in on Friday once I'm back... Hope all's well with all ur lil bumps too! God bless Congratulations!!! :)

I own 2, but my guy refuses to stay under one, he is 10 months old and quite capable of whipping it up and showing off my assets to all and sundry and amusing himself greatly in the process. He also pretty much refuses to feed if there is anything more interesting going on (ie anybody else in the room) :( hehe..mine's starting to do that.. so i pin the end of the blanket under my fat a**e!! heheh

There does seem to be a common factor running through a great many threads on here over the years, which seems to be a deep rooted insecurity about parenthood? Why do so many posters sound almost afraid of their children? And sometimes it's not even teenagers in the frame. I really don't understand this. Your thoughts, ladies. I blame Tele and all this threat of abuse and children divorcing their parents trend... :p ok..maybe i'm not in the league to say anything yet..as my dd is only 9 months..but, when i was a child, I seem to be terrified of my parents when I do something wrong.
