if you want to introduce ur DD to formula, mix 1/2 and 1/2 with EBM first.. don't worry..your milk will adjust to your pumping.. as in, if you only need to feed 2x aday, then the milk will only produce enough for that.. hhmm.. won't be overnight tho..prolly take 2-3 days.. S

Trying to get out of macdonalds in the Springs this afternoon and a woman rammed her trolley against my ankle. Letting out a very subdued "ouch", I turn around and this harridan (hot, sweaty and evil looking) is standing there glaring at me. I don't move and rub my ankle and she makes some remark like "move I am trying to get out" So I reply "umm you just ran your trolley into my ankle" Well then it all kicked off! Apparently I was rude ands shouldn't have been there in the first place and then a scottish woman with a scrawny pinched face starts yelling at me to move and take my arguement outside. (I wasn't actually arguing - I was standing there flabberghasted) I say pardon to her and she starts shouting for me to "get over myself" or something. So then I have two of these red-faced wierdos screaming at me. This is in front of a packed Macdonalds audience and my two children. I took the higher ground and walked off, muttering to myself about the rudeness of some people but now I am really fuming about the injustice of it all. I was only trying to buy my kids an icecream. They prolly didn't get laid for the last year or so :D Sorry to hear that... hope you and your kids are ok S

you can't change AED in Sing..only in certain places certainly not at the airport..what ppl tend to do is to change to USD here ( since it's pared) and change USD to SGD at the airport..

I have to agree with MrsL on this one... This is the new family the OP is starting. I can't imagine having my mom in the room with me. Yes I am very close to my mom but I want DH to share this new venture with me. Going through birth, I wasn't the nicest woman at that point in time. With barking hold me, no it's wrong. Go away, no come back...etc etc etc.. I can't imagine saying those things to my mom... Plus, right now, I am totally embarrassed if I'm not fully clothed when in front of my mom :D Sorry OP.... edited by shjbelle on 05/06/2011

are you giving paracetomol or neurofen for the teething, I think that can maybe constipate? re; the water, I give to my baby in a cup, its a good way to make sure they don't take too much and helps them learn a new skill. Helpful when you are out and about and can give your baby swig from your water bottle. http://www.todaysparent.com/baby/foodnutrition/article.jsp?content=1240 edited by kiwispiers on 01/06/2011 I only give her Calpol when she's pulling her ear( i heard it's one of the signs to show she's getting earache due to teething), so far she's not been cranky at all, *touch wood* for the teething, just a bit whine here and there.... I have been trying the sippy cup and she's taking it great!! Thanks again for this... I will just start giving her drinks, expect for milk, from her cup.. S

Certain foods can be constipating regardless of how much water she drinks. My wee guy poos 2-4 times a day too, but not of the red faced pebble variety. A lot of what you give them they can't really break down and it pretty much goes straight through. You could try cutting back on quantity if she is having large amounts and giving more fruit and less starch (so less cereal, potato, corn, carrot) and make sure bananas are very ripe. 340mL of water day sounds like a lot at her age, you might want to be careful she is not replacing breastmilk or formula with water (from a nutritional standpoint) Give her some nappy off time if you can to help her bottom heal and try not using wipes (use cotton wool and water) to avoid irritiating the skin further) (or even chuck her in the bath and hose the area off with plain water) noted with the starchy things. with regards to the milk, I forgot to put that she also has BM early mng, before her cereal... is that too much water? how much shud she be drinking at her age? Will give her more fruits instead... so far today, she's pooped about 4 times ( that's in 8 hours)...

PS If she's 8 months now and was 6 months and/or displaying all the signs of readiness when you first introduced solids, then allergies are unlikely as you say unless there is a family history. oh..she has a big bottle of diluted juice at every meal.. and she finishes the whole bottle ( 170ml) ok...will send you and email... thanks BFC!!!

The English College is collecting baby food/items (mainly nappies I think) for an orphanage in Africa. They have a group of students going there next month to help out, so are collecting for them. Not too sure if they are asking for unopened packs of nappies plus cash so that they can buy formula once there, or if they are taking everything with them. Why not give them a call. will do...as Ive got 2 btls myself...

if you're looking at a flat be sure it has assigned parking attached to the building especially in the corniche area. Parking of any kind is rare and starts to add up for a permit. I lived in Al Jazzat (near the "book" R/A or AKA Quran R/A) which is now an intersection. I had a great older villa, but perhaps that was because I had a great landlord. Near to airport road and not too bad to get to "downtown Sharjah" or Ajman hey...that's near me..i live at kuwait street!!

My DD just had a bout of that last night and we are back home already from the hospital... my question is what do I feed her for bedtime? My BM flow is not so much during the night as I usually feed her formula for her dreamfeed.. please help... TIA S Same as below little and often, don't give the full feed at bed time, just give about 60ml or so, she'll want more later but it's better not to give the whole bottle as she won't be able to hold it down. ok..thank you..

hehe.. the 1st 2 months of jabs.. they don't usually result in any fever.. but do keep a bottle of calpol at home.. I was advised when DD had her 4 month jab onwards to either immediately give calpol once we got home, ie no need to wait til she's got any fever or to give before the injection at the doctor..I waited til we got home to give her.. Does anyone know what time they open, and how busy the beach is on weekday mornings? look at their website for the timings..and as for how busy, go in one day and have a look.. I don't see the harm in asking someone in the know how busy it gets rather than paying 150 dirhams or however much it is to go and find it packed. And for anyone else interested, the club is open from 7am to 10pm. Just offering a helping hand to save people having to trawl through the website...;) edited by dairylea on 02/05/2011 i am very sure you are allowed in just to have a look see without having to pay.... sorry if i sounded too harsh..but just saying that the time you spend typing is equivalent to clicking the mouse to check...:D

Hugs to you Sunsa... I think you are doing a brilliant job... My DD was also exclusively breastfed..til about a month ago when I introduce formula to her, which til today, I only give for her dream feed...the rest of the day she's on b/milk and on solids for lunch. I think it's ok.. Like you I was nearly going mental without my sleep.. :D Now she sleeps all thru the night..which is a blessing for me :)

ZUMBA ZUMBA ZUMBA.!!! There are classes all over and it's hysterical! Took me a bit to stop laughing, but boy it's fun. It's kind of latino style dance moves & aerobic excercise all together. Really motivating music, lots of giggles and heaps of fun. Check out your nearest gym - they're sure to have a class. I do it at Al Areesh club, Festival city - the instructor is great! that's the nearest to me... do they have a website? googling it but not much info.. :( did you have to pay monthly or per class, and how much? what day and times? can we bring LO or just adults? ladies only or mix? sorry ...so many questions.:D

Dear All, Glsd to announce that my lil one came exactly a month early even though my due date was on may 14th. Yes, God has blessed us with a baby gal, CYRA, on the 15th of April. On 13th of May I had a check up but there was no clue that she wud be coming, the same nite my water broke and was admitted at Aw and she came on 15th April at around 13:37pm. My experience at AW was excellent and just felt that i was delivering at my home as i had everyone around me to support me. Anyways, baby keeping well and enjoying my motherhood. So...all, be prepared and may god bless. REgards, Shiji Congrats Shiji!!! Lovely name Cyra!! S

HI! I had worries similar to yours when I moved to Dubai. I wanted to live in Mirdif but I was anxious about the flight path noise. I spent several days with a map, and highlighter pen, and sat outside lots of villas and discovered the flightpath was generally a diagonal line somewhere between Sharooq and Uptwon Mirdif, moving accross towards Lifco supermarket. Next I looked at villas on the edges of Mirdif, in the two opposite diagonals which were not on the flighpath. I found a lovley villa on 91d street and can honestly say that the planes are not a nuisance to me. The local shops are fine for everyday needs and I can be in Mushrif park in a few minutes - not quite the Yorkshire Dales I know but it is green and pleasant in its own way. Good luck with the villa hunting. will it be a tad cheeky if i ask for a copy of the map? pppllleeeaasseee? :D

Went shopping with my mom at Outlet Mall and she wanted to try on a pair of Guess shoes. The man could only find one shoe in her size and hunted high and low for the other shoe. Eventually coming back after quite a while saying "Ma'am i cannot find the other shoe to match this one, but i will sell you this one shoe for half price" I mean REALLY??? who's gonna buy one shoe??? :P That is ssssoooo funny!!!

xmasbaby, be careful when booking as many places are doing an "Easter Brunch" and you may find that not only are you not allowed to use the vouchers, as it's a special occasion, but also, the brunch itself is more expensive than usual. Oh, and many places are already fully booked :) edited by simpleasabc on 19/04/2011 oohh..thanks for reminding..will have to call tom and check...
