I found though that doctors over here tend to be a bit quick with the scalpel , never met so many women who were told that they had to have c-sections. I had a natural birth.. like I said, get a Doula... it cuts having a c-sect by 50%!!! fabulous isn't it? S

Like you, I was petrified of labour. Mine actually started from 3pm but I brushed it off and I gave birth at 10am the next morning. I myself am very suprised at my threshold pain to last all this time until the last moment. I asked for the spinal block, not the epi(which is available here in UAE) as I was physically tired and DD was stuck just at the end of the 'tunnel' ;) I also strongly believe I manage to last all this while thanks to my doula. I highly recommend you getting one esp if it's your first birth. Delighted, who is her nick here in EW, is my doula. The only thing is remember from the birth is I really really felt like pooing.. lol You'll be fine... and yeah,.... get a doula.. S

Hi Layool, Sorry to hear that. Do you give any liquids after the rice cereal? Perhaps you can change to pureed fruits and veges instead? DD is also 6 months and her solids are only for lunch. She also on b/milk but I give formula for her dream feed. How long are your LO's naps in the day? A midwife told me the myth that if a bub sleeps little in the day, she'll sleep longer at night. I used to do that and DD was a nightmare during the night. Now she her naps are twice in the day, each time about 2hrs each. With regards to gas, do you still burp your LO? As I still do. Perhaps, change your routine for bedtime. Feed LO just about bedtime, then have a warm bath. Massage with bedtime oil, which contains lavender which is very soothing n calming, and by the time you're done, LO may be so ready for sleep. Include dream feed as well? Maybe you still need to swaddle? I know of a mom who swaddles her LO til he is 8 months... Good luck!! S

i think 6 weeks is still too young to be in chlorinated water... My DD also loves her baths and I waited til she's 4 months.. as that's what the minimum age to join a swimming class for bubs...

hehehe... if you go to babyshop, they have the formula carrier.. separated container-like for per feeding... Tommy Tippee bottles & ni**ples are recommended as they are similar to the human t*t.. however, they don't have nice looking bottle warmers... :)

Thank you so much ladies for the advice, I am with NAS insurance, not impressed.. I had never heard of International Modern Hospital but will got and take a look, is there any Gynae that you would recommend there? I suppose the location is a bit out of the way ie Bur Duba but I don't think I have many choices.. Dr Andrea is fantastic!! she's my gynae and doctor for DD's birth... well... I am living in Sharjah so nothing is beyond your out of the way :D S

I gave birth at International Modern Hospital.. it's fab!! private room all to myself, everyone is very kind to me, from the nurses to the housekeepers to the lady who delivers the food.... there's even a little sitting area for guests to sit..nurses invited me to watch DD's first bath in the morning, they'll check to see if you're bfeeding correctly, another set comes in to check if you're healing properly and doc's come to your room to see how you are... I really recommend the hospital if your insurance covers it!! S

Thanks all. Just to show Mummy who is boss my DS ate a fair portion of apple about ten mins after I posted this!!! I am very grateful for your responses and I will just keep on with our slow and steady approach. I am hoping to switch to BLW soon but I just can't get DH on board with it yet and I have to respect his opinion too - he thinks I will choke DS on day one with no pureed food. He is doing really well physically (DS, not DH!) - crawling from 4mo and sitting up no problem so I really think BLW would be great for him. He is fab with a spoon too - just hadn't swallowed anything until today! Thanks again x crawling at 4 months? wow!! any tricks on that? DD is already 6 months and is just starting to turn on her own..heheh

its silly as you do need someone who has a slightly different opinion in your group to keep it interesting..your followers will not care/listen to this person anyway... this lady who keeps on deleting stuff is sssoo living in a la la land..but hey..it's her group so she can do whatever she wants...

Dr Andrea at the International Modern Hospital... I was diagnosed with having HPV from Emirates Hospital and was strongly recommended to have an operation. DH and I wanted a 2nd opinion and was recommended Dr. Andrea. She checked me. Told me the facts and the best bit, she said the operation will be the LAST thing I would recommend esp since I have not had a child(then). She's fab with a great sense of humour too!! Oh..she was also my doctor for DD. edited by shjbelle on 16/03/2011

I didn't really follow it to the T.. what I did was... Get her bathed up at 6ish with Johnson n Johnson's bedtime bath, then oil her down with the bedtime oil.. Gave her milk and made sure she could see I was in the room with her... What also helped was I left my used jimmies as a comfort thing for her.. She whined and looked at me, as though she's pleading please pick me up.. but I didn't.. I just said.. you go to sleep, I'm here..I won't go away... It took about 4 days before I can leave her 1/2 sleepy on her own and she falls asleep on her own.. It was hard at first, but now, DD sleeps 8 hrs before having her night feed at 4 ish..which is great by me :) S

sure thang.. I first started with the ready made ones that I got from the supermarket..remember to check for salt/sugar content...get the ones preferably without.. I started with just a few spoonfuls at lunch, get her to get used to it... So, now it's fixed that she gets solids for lunch and she knows and loves it.. I change like cereal one day, fruits one day, veges one day.. DD is on BM and only gets her formula for bedtime.. reg ur question bout follow up 1 or 2.. don't the bottle say from which age is for which no? Good luck..

However, once you introduce solids then iron absorption does go down so you need to make sure to introduce iron-rich foods. xx like what food? DD is already on solids... oh..she's still on BM apart from that bedtime formula.. edited by shjbelle on 11/03/2011

hhm.. my dd is just hitting 6 months and i've already started the formula with her... the only time i give her formula is at bedtime... maybe u can mix formula with EBM first then lessen the EBM as she gets used to the taste.. There was another thread about the taste/smell of formula..u can do a search for it.. Maybe, ur DD does not like Aptamil.. I know that it can be a hit and miss with formulas... S
